Alright, for starters I've been on the board for over a year, don't call me a novice anymore, I think I've earned at least that. No, I didn't forget about storm pioletting the x-jet or creating the tornadoes, but are you honestly satisfied with only that? If so then I guess that's fine, but I thought Storm had more potential then to be a glorified pilot. And yes, she did save the professor and humans...but those secenes were pretty much it. We got a very little insight into what Storm thought about humanity with the Nightcrawler talk, but that was it. Other then that, she was there to do cool things.
No I didn't "get my rocks off" that Storm spins around. I was happy she had more then a minute of dialouge in the entire movie. But honestly I wished she had had a little more. Do you "get you're rocks off" because she makes cool tornadoes and snow?
okay, there was alot of bashing thrown at Mr. Ratner ever since he was announced, not only from us posters here, but from major internet and other media sources, too... i think given the movie he gave us has been getting mostly positive reviews, save for a few stubborn people and critics who simply won't admit they were wrong to judge him so badly.
so, if you feel like being a bigger person, and apologizing for giving the guy such a hard time, here's the place to do it.
i don't expect alot of you to post your sorry's in here, and i think even though Ratner turned in a movie better than X1 and X2, alot of you just won't admit it for whatever reason, but, we'll see what happens
(for the record, i never had no strong feeling one way or the other about his appointment to the film, so i owe no such apology)
Ratner delivered exactly what Fox wanted - popcorn entertainment for the weekend crowds. He NEVER stepped up and made the film more than it could be but I never expected the Rush Hour director to do otherwise. But I am not thanking him for this rubbish.
Seeing that X-men 3 is the worst reviewed X-men movie of all time, and seeing that its already dividing fans so much, I'm not really sure why Ratner deserves thanks for anything.
No I'm not. But I'm satisfied she had a subplot with Nightcrawler that had a legitimate payoff.
I'm satisfied that she SAVED ALL OF HUMANITY FROM EXTINCTION!
But all you novices, yes NOVICES just brush it aside and forget it.
You hail Ratner as this genius director because he makes Storm SPIN AROUND! How fun.
No I don't. At least I'm not being in denial about what Storm actually did and saying crap like she did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING in the last 2 movies.
She had a few more lines, so what? Cyclops was JETTISONED! They had Storm give the eulogy that rightfully belongs to Cyclops. Storm didn't have that intimate scene with Xavier in the FIRST MOVIE that Cyclops did.
I'm not saying that Cyclops wasn't given the short end of the stick. And yes storm DID do things in the first two movies. And I will give you the nightcrawler secene that was one of the best with storm interacting with someone.
But the fact is, we're not talking about cyclops getting shafted or any of that. YES Storm DID have secens in the first two movies. But, she did not have as many as she did in this one. She was still underused, you can't deny that. She was used better in X2, but she was still underused. The first two x-men movies were more about Wolveirne, we all know that, I didn't mind because I love Wolverine, but it's still true.
And I'm not hailing Ratner. His movie wasn't the best comic book movie of all time (that's still BB) but I enjoyed it. I'm not in denial of what Storm did. Yes she did things, but I wasn't satisfied that that was all Singer could do with her character, I wasn't totally satisfied that X3 was all Ratner could do with her character.

"You taught me everything worth knowing and I want you to know that if anything happens I'll take care of them"
"I know what I'm doing"
"Jean"
"It's the only way"
"Jean, don't do this"
"Goodbye"
"Oh no nonono"
Jean dies
"She's gone"
"No you don't say that...No....No...bring her back, oh bring her back"
"She's gone"
"What are they"
"Symbols passed done to man by the archangel Gabriel"
"How many do you have"
"One for every sin, so quiet a few"
"You know when I was in the Munich Circus outside many people were afraid of me, but I did not hate them I pitied them (which plays off of X1's "Do you hate humans")"
"Well I gave up on pity a long time ago (character study)"
"Someone so beautiful should not be so angry"
"Sometimes anger can help you survive"
"So can faith"
You see none of those lines had exposition, and yet they skilled conveyed a lot of emotion.

I liked the movie, but I think we are in a hulk/daredevil scenario here folks, I mean Its interesting, but X1/X2 I wanted to watch multiple screenings, and I am happy with only watching X3 once until it comes out on dvd, those holding out hope for an X4 I am not so sure about, I mean Hulk and daredevil in my opinion were both good movies, but they were lacking in that appeal that brings casual movie goers back for multiple showings and I think thats the same situation we got with X3 unfortunately.

There I've given you a REASON as to my feelings, whereas you just simply act like you know everything and that I'm wrong. Try to support your opinon please, or else no one will take you seriously.
If i have to give myself carpal tunnel syndrome each time some guy asks me to whip out my explanations, this wouldnt be a fun place to post. It would be a debate fest every time Ive observed boards and how folks on boards like these think already...AND films like these... imo its pretty predictable and most of the stuff i see here is absolutely no surprise to me. Sometimes all it takes is just accurate instinct to separate insignificant details from major movie damaging ones. Id swear i was in a parallell universe but this time its x men.
Perhaps in my review i will write another huge post for this type of stuff... not right now... for i must look at other topics
But i'll say one thing Infinity, 50% of folks think the film is either decent or fantastic, so that does count for something, but in the larger picture something obviously went wrong... it delivered the "hologram" effect if you get the comparison.
on the 30th. The issue im discussing is that x3 has pacing issues and sabotaged itself for a 93 min runtime... that itself even if i like the film when i see it is going to make this crew reckless in my view. .. good job perhaps.. but im not going to praise them like they werent. imo theres a route to take for greatness... you want to take it and win the review strategy game? or not.. its that simple. Its plainly obvious they didnt do it.
rotten tomatoes, i think, is not a good example of how "good" this movie is... i'll bet half the "critics" listed there are not big enough to admit that they were wrong, much like half of the people on this board.
this was a good movie, believe it or not, it had better action, a better story, better acting, characterization, etc... and i think the people that say that this was somehow worse than 1 or 2 probably eat babies...
I just returned from the viewing with my date. She wasn't and isn't well versed in the X-Men universe, although she had admitted to seeing one episode of the TAS and was somewhat familiar with Wolverine, Cyclops, and Beast.
Anyways, where do I start? Did I like the film? I enjoyed it for what it was. Is it better than X1? Yes. Better than X2? No way. In MY opinion it's a good movie on its own. Perhaps if had followed X1 instead of X2 then it would possibly be a different argument.
X2 is a great movie and so is X1. Anyone who says Singers X-Men are a piece of trash don't appreciate good cinema and actual character development. In hindsight they have short attention spans and refuse to acknowledge the emotion, power, and realistic human nature that is involved with these particular mutants that we know and love.
One thing that has to stop is the name calling of Ratner. Most directors would've cracked under the pressure he was placed upon, but in my honest opinion, he put out a good movie to the best of his abilities and if he was given more time he would've put out an even better movie(IMO).
Don't get me wrong now, I do have some complaints about the movie and you can definitely tell due to its rushed schedule/filming, a lot of the ideas that were presented didn't get the right treatment and weren't developed to their fullest potential.
The runtime wasn't as bad as other made it out to be, the pacing was very good(suprisingly), and the acting was very good, not great, but better than the FF4 or Elektra for instance. The fact that this movie isn't a trainwreck due to politics, studio interference, and limited time is beyond me and I applaud Ratner for doing the best he could. Yes, I would've rather had Singer continue his vision of the Dark Phoenix saga; however, nothing can be done and what is done is done.
I feel Angel wasn't necessary. He has a great story and he's a great character, I really didn't like the fact that he didn't do anything of merit
except save his father in the end.
Beast was excellent. I loved Kelseys performance and everytime I saw him on the screen, I wanted more and wished we had seen more of his agility in the final battle.
I also wish his scene with Leech was further explored. I loved the acting by Kelsey, his emotion and the look on his face as Beast watched his human hand return was excellent. You could feel that he loved seeing his normal hand for once and I would've loved if he had gotten closer, and got to see his human face as well. However, that is a minor issue and hopefully its in the DVD(If there is an extended version).
Yes, we all wish and are angry that Cyclops bit the dust. But the best thing about it(If there is a best thing) is that there is no body. He opened his eyes really quick and he may've been knocked back into the woods by Jeans force. So again, this opens the possibility of him returning for a future X-Men movie via Mr. Sinister(hopefully)
I will say that I was very disappointed by the final battle. All of the rumors and clips from the trailers showed it be climatic, emotional, and powerful and to me it just seemed like a typical battle. To me there was no finality and didn't really exhude any kind of apocalyptic proportions. I know it would've been A LOT better if Cyclops, Rogue, and Angel were involved in the final conflict.
There were quite a few flaws. But we can't blame Ratner, Kinberg, or Penn for Rothman being the greedy blind individual that he is. They had a job to do and they were being watched by a microscope, so there's no need to hate them or call them any kind of names. I firmly believe if they had more time available the movie probably would've been over two hours, had more Cyclops, and maybe have a more climatic finale than the one we received.
In my theater it was packed with A LOT of comic book geeks. It received a standing ovation at the end and I didn't hear too many groans during the Cyclops tragedy. But, that's a whole another story, even though I was slightly closing my eyes and still in a state of denial to an extent.
In the end, I liked the film and I appreciate the effort. This movie will make a lot of money and Fox will probably greenlight an X4, and hopefully it'll pave the way for Apocalypse and Mr. Sinister.
I give it a 3/5. Not a bad movie, but could've been better developed with more time and care.
I definitely didn't like Wolverine being the savior. Seeing him hold Jean was blasphemous in my opinion, and it showed that Rothman has a hard-on for Wolverine.
it never ceases to amaze me how people try to delude themselves when it comes to reviews that differ from their opinion.
EDIT: I wasnt referring to last sunrise. Even if he liked the movie, he didnt have to resort to saying "All those who think its bad just dont want to admit its good" crap.

Well that site doesnt make x3s approval look good. If thats truly the consensus... something went wrong, people stopped polishing the film when they shouldnt have.

You really need to change your name. The critics the fans who dislike the movie all present good arguments, we have an entire thread full of continuity errors, and poor characterization is mentioned even in the "positive" reviews. No one here is wrong except those who act like the facts and figures coming out surrounding this movies reception to the critical audience is wrong.
Yeah look at all the money Independance Day and Armegeddon made. Those movies were pure crap. X3 fits right in with those mindless pieces of garbage.
I feel horrible for the actors in this film. It's not their fault, they didn't have to make this movie, they weren't under contract. They came back and this is what they get?

It's right up there with Terminator 3. I now look back over interviews and pity the actors who lied through their teeth and said "its the best of the three...oh yes, now where is my paycheck".
