ShadowBoxing said:It's right up there with Terminator 3. I now look back over interviews and pity the actors who lied through their teeth and said "its the best of the three...oh yes, now where is my paycheck".
Can i just ask you who are you?Mr. Credible said:rotten tomatoes, i think, is not a good example of how "good" this movie is... i'll bet half the "critics" listed there are not big enough to admit that they were wrong, much like half of the people on this board.
this was a good movie, believe it or not, it had better action, a better story, better acting, characterization, etc... and i think the people that say that this was somehow worse than 1 or 2 probably eat babies...
yeah... eat babies.
The Batman said:I think it's the actors that save this flick, actually. Anyone else, and the script would be complete crap
ShadowBoxing said:You really need to change your name. The critics the fans who dislike the movie all present good arguments, we have an entire thread full of continuity errors, and poor characterization is mentioned even in the "positive" reviews. No one here is wrong except those who act like the facts and figures coming out surrounding this movies reception to the critical audience is wrong.

because really i would like to know how to have your all mighty knowledge.
I mean wow.
Everyday , man everyday.Mr. Credible said:i'm not almighty by any means, but if i know anything, i know people.... and people in general do not like to, and will avoid at any costs, admitting they were wrong. it's a simple fact, andi haven't a doubt in my mind that at least half of the "critics" just jumped on the 'screw ratner' bandwagon (again, not unlike the poeple on this board) and don't want to admit they were wrong.
have you ever had to admit you were wrong? it's not an easy thing to do, and, given the chance (like the chance being an anonymous face on the internet provides) most people are likely to take it.
Not at all you have to show characterization. Like say by showing us what happens. Wolverine for example goes from not really caring about Jean at the beginning to all of the sudden leaving the team to coming back to the team and then killing Jean and blurting out "I love you" with no build up whatsoever. Storm becoming leader is forced out by dialogue with Professor X, whereas with Cyclops in X1 it is not forced at all and seems natural within the confines of the situation. It was not "Oh, by the way Storm you're leader and I will die". The scene was unnecessary. With Iceman and Kitty, yeah they had some, but their roles were too small to do anything with it. Magneto jumps from place to place as well. One moment Mystique is his partical lover the next she is human and its "Oh well sucks for you"....they did not even know how to end that scene.Mr. Credible said:yeah... we have an entire thread dedicated to things like the bee/spider on Logan's shirt, and whether or not the 'Father' on Xavier's grave is justified... nice thread!
and pooor characterization, as much as i hate to admit it, is in the eye of the beholder... i think Wolverine, Storm, Rogue, Kitty, Bobby, Professor X and Magneto all had better character arcs in this movie than they did in the first two movies put together.
in my opinion, the people who say X "sucked" are the same kind of people who say that the Da Vinci Code was a good movie. they're people that are afraid to admit that something they defended/ridiculed for so long was the opposite of what they thought it was.
and i've said before, so i'll say it again: i don't think X3 was a perfect movie by any means, but it put Singer's movies to shame, in half the time, with twice the production problems, and a comparible budget... that's all i expected out of it, and if i were Ratner, i couldn't be happier right now. he (again, in my opinion) did the impossible, and made a movie that everyone didn't think he could.

You say you know people? but say between you and me , what do you know about people in here? people that you have never met? people with whom you talked about a movie in "i a m right , you're wrong term"
you think you know people here ? think again.

Characterization would be best shown in X2 when Nightcrawler says he cannot bamf through the cerebro and she says "I have faith in you" and then they pray. Showing that Storms problem with anger came full circle and she came to an understanding with Nightcrawler. Or when Wolverine says "I think this guy Xavier really wants to help us and thats a rare thing for people like us....so what do you say lets give these geeks one more shot". Thats characterization, not I'm leaving the school to you, we are X-Men, I love you, etc. What you think is characterization is exposition, saying what is going on, and that is a huge taboo in credible movies.
Yeah you ought to know a lot about those types of people.Mr. Credible said:hah!!! i laughed out loud at that, i really did.
know people here?!? people here are the worst at admitting they were wrong, and you know it! "fanboys" being protective of theit respective franchises, and who've critisized it every step of the way are the least likely to admit that the guy they thought would fail didn't.
isn't that like, common knowledge?

ahh i understand better..
myy god.........
PS : hey genius , i don't think you had the time to read my ps in my post that you quoted....
Exactly neither can I and thats a problem. In X1 and X2 there were a ton of memorable scenes whose dialogue stuck out to me, like pretty much everything Nightcrawler ever said and most of what Stryker said and especially "I'll take my chances with him". This stuff lives on because its good and solid and makes an impression. Whereas this movie had to use one liners to acheive any memorable scene. If the biggest thing I remember is an out of place "I love you" and "I'm the Juggernaut b****" and the rest is a blur that probably means your dialogue was clunky and not tied well to the story (i.e. characterization). And as our latest installment points out below, X3 has no conversation.Mr. Credible said:blah... i don't feel like typing 3 paragraphs about this, i really don't, but if you think that a few lines in X1 and 2 are "characterization" and that none of that took place in X3, then i'm not sure what to tell you... (i'll behonest, after one viewing of X3, i can't remember any of the exact lines or anything, like you or even i can after multiple viewings of X1 or 2, so...)

Yup that's right ,i know that you obviously couldn't see it at that moment.. that's not what i mean at all.Mr. Credible said:PS: hey genius, maybe because that's because you added it five minutes later!
No I could, and quiet well actually. I always did a great Magneto impression, and my Stryker is not half bad either. But no, for example Mystic River I have only seen twice. But I remember "Is that my daughter in there" and "When was the last time you saw David Boyle" and "Vampires, I was thinking about Vampires" and "Admit what you did" and "You only find love like that once" and "I couldn't even cry at her funeral, I couldn't even cry" "well you're crying now" and so on. So movies that are written well stick with you even after one showing. Look at a great movie like Batman Begins which people were quoting the next day.Mr. Credible said:i'd wager that after you came out of the theatre seeing X1 and X2 you coudn't quote any direct lines from the movies, either... but, we could argue that all day, so...
