"Wicker" Reimagining Ready To Ride
By Garth Franklin
Tuesday August 7th 2007 12:17am
"Cowboys for Christ," writer/director Robin Hardy's re-imagining of his own 70's horror flick "The Wicker Man," will begin filming September 10th in Scotland and Texas reports Moviehole.

Starring Christopher Lee and Faye Dunaway, the film tells of a Christian singing star and her chaste fiance, a Texas cowboy, who travel to Scotland for a music festival.

They soon learn the curtain-raiser is a smoke screen for a horrific pagan ritual of sacrifice and murder, and it's uncertain if the power of the Americans' Christian faith will be strong enough to survive the assault of the pagans.

The film's story deliberately invokes parallels to the original work, but mainly changes the location and updates the time period - and hopefully be a big improvement on the horrid Nic Cage remake. Names are being sought to fill the two lead roles of Beth and Steve.

I read awhile ago that they were trying to make a sequel to the original, the original director, Christopher Lee and several others. The title was "May Day" or something. Perhaps this is it? Invoking parallels of the first film makes sense. But Christopher Lee and Faye Dunaway...i'll check it out.

....They JUST remade this .

Ok ...

This kinda reminds me of talk of Gus Van Sant wanting to do yet another remake/reimaging of Hitchcock's Psycho.

Why?

That's what the world needs, more historically inaccurate propaganda pitting the "evil" pagans against the "righteous" Christians.

Dracula Christoper Lee or some other Chris Lee?

Wait, so with this there will be three now?

No version of The Wicker Man ever suggested Christianity was the right way to go. Quite the opposite in fact, it almost mocks Edward Woodward's belief that everything will be okay.

LOL, imagine what a letdown that would be-!!

You're sitting in the cinema to see the new Wicker Man 're-imagining' - and it's a different guy called Christopher Lee.

I rented the original because a poster here was raving about it. It is an amazing film, a closed environment mystery, pagan, erotic, horror musical. The behind the scenes stories of filming when it was freezing, Britt Ekland and film going missing are quite interesting.

A new version, just after the really bad one. This just boggles the mind.

The same reason they made Invasion of the Body Snatchers 4 times, Hollywood has no reason.
