This movie is a classic and you will all respect it as such. :o

" Candy is dandy, but liquor is quicker"

I can believe Peter Ostrum is a dairy farmer now. He seems relatively happy with it though, so good for him.

Brilliant film especially the bits with Veruca Salt. What a class act!

I love this version and the new one for different reasons. But this one will always have a place in my heart cause it`s the one i grew up with. I can still sing all of the songs :o

There's no earthly way of knowing
Which direction we are going.
There's no knowing where we're rowing
Or which way the river's flowing.
Is it raining?
Is it snowing?
Is a hurricane a blowing?

Not a speck of light is showing
so the danger must be growing.
Are the fires of hell a glowing?
Is the grisly reaper mowing?
Yes! The danger must be growing
For the rowers keep on rowing.
And they're certainly not showing
any signs that they are slowing!

Best quote ever: "We are the music makers, and we are the dreamers of the dreams."

This movie is ten times better than the remake. Veruca Salt was the most entertaining out of the nasty children. She was such a spoiled little b*tch lol.

The funniest segment in the movie though is when the hunt for the golden tickets is on, and it shows various people all over the world going through crazy extremes to find one. The best one is the one where some woman's husband has been kidnapped. She's with the Police, she's frantic, saying "I'll give them anything they want. All I want is to have Harold back".

Then the kidnappers ring, one of the detectives answers, and takes note of the demands.

Wife: "What did they ask for? Whatever it is they can have it"
Detective: "They want your case of Wonka bars"
*Wife looks surprised and upset*
Detective: "Mrs Harris, did you hear me? It's your husband's life for your case of Wonka bars"
Wife: "How long will they give me to think it over?"

LOL. Lots of this type of black comedy in the movie.

The face Gene Wilder makes while singing that song is crazy. It's like he's creeping out the rest of them.

I watched this film a lot when I was a kid. Yeah, the Johnny Depp version doesn't even compare.

I want a Scrumdiblyumptious bar.

Definitely appreciated.

The remake doesnt hold a candle to the original, and as much as I like Depp's interpretation, Wilder's Willy Wonka is the best.

The phrases "black and white, clear as crystal," "etc. etc." and "cheer up Charlie" are part of my daily vocabulary.

I love this movie.

The lack of Wonka respect on the hype disturbs me. :o

No there's tons of people who adore Wonka. Don't you worry,Sawyer.
