That's just awesome. I wish more developers would follow suit.

Its rarely up to the developer, its up to the publisher. CDPR doesnt have that problem because they aren't owned by any one publisher. They set the rules for their games. It doesnt work that way most of the time.

Well then I wish more publishers would follow suit lol although I know that's not happening

Suck it, ALL other publishers/developers:

Never played Witcher, but I've liked what I've seen from this game so far. This decision to make 16 DLC's available to everyone at no cost has pretty much guaranteed that I will buy this game.:up:

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - An Open Letter
December, 08, 2014

Dear Gamers,

Ever since we started working on The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, we knew it would be an ambitious game. We wanted, and still aim, to give you an incredible experience, an epic adventure in a vast, completely open fantasy universe.

The sheer size and complexity of The Witcher, key features of the title, have had a decisive impact on production. Now, nearing the end of our work, we see many details that need to be corrected. When we release the most important game in our studio’s history, we must be absolutely sure that we did everything we could to limit any bugs to a level that will allow you to enjoy the game thoroughly.

With this in mind, we took another look at current workloads and what they mean for the team. Even though everyone is working at full speed, we concluded that we need another 12 weeks, so we are shifting the release date of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt to May 19th, 2015.

We owe you an apology. We set the release date too hastily. It’s a hard lesson, one to take to heart for the future. We know what we want to do to make Wild Hunt one of the best RPGs you will ever play. And we continue to work hard to achieve just that. So, we apologize and ask for your trust.

Thank you for the all support you show us on a daily basis. We truly do appreciate it. It has fueled us in our passion since the start and will continue to do so.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - An Open Letter

"A delayed game is eventually good, but a rushed game is forever bad."

Wow, a lot of the games I want have been pushed back. Well I guess I don't have much to play new until March when Bloodborne comes out. At least they care about the quality.

Shame about the delay, but I suppose at least if it means a better game in the end, then fair enough.

I'm sure they will deliver in the end, looking forward to this one more than anything.

Oh for God sake this is the second delay... :argh:

I know that there were some rumblings about the development being seriously troubled back in October. With this new delay that's looking likelier.

I've never necessarily clicked with this series but I've always admired it and bought Witcher 1 and 2 and was planning to check out 3 (probably still will) but I hope things work out for them okay.

Well we can now brand them liars. They promised there would be no more delays. :(

just heard the news.

the gamer in me is :(

but my wallet is :woot:

this delay will give me more time with DAI, so I'm not really bothered.

not too mention, after Xmas, I'm going to have a big backlog of games to get to.

After Unity, take all the time you need.

I'll happily wait.
People say this, but if they waited 3 years I don't think we are taking about a happy wait. What this means is they are having trouble just like the Neogaf person said. I am now officially worried, especially after the last trailer.

Ugh. This leaves a huge hole I was planning to have filled with Witcher. I'm not really interested in Dying Light or Evolve which are the only other big titles around that time.

Yea I wont be playing anything by the time Witcher is out. Iv already gone through most of my fall titles. Don't plan on getting anything more this month or next. So Witcher and Batman are the two games iv got circled for the next 6 months.

Man...it's disappointing to hear. It sucks to hear.

But...looking at how Assassins Creed Unity has taken hits, and complaints, and the gifs, and the laughter, and anger, and even how Ubisoft had to take down the season pass...I am willing to accept a delay for a better and more technically solid game.

If they need more time to deliver, then take more time. It sucks that they have to, but I'd rather that they do instead of having a game hardlock on me every hour or have Geralt fall endlessly through the game world.

Or...ehhh...having half of Geralt's face disappear during a cut scene with his hair, lips and eyes still in place...

Ive come to the conclusion that every game will be delayed. Release dates are no longer something that can be relied upon.

Ah in my 25 years of gaming I've grown used to it. During the late 90's with PC games there was always tons of "long" delays. It's something that used to make me upset but anymore I just shrug my shoulders and hope they make it a better game. Release dates have never really been reliable.

I never take release dates too seriously. I haven't preordered a game since GTA V.

Yea and most times they're set by the publisher, or individuals who have no responsibility to the finished product. Altho we need that because as artists, these developers are never satisfied with their work, they always think it could be better. If it were up to the devs, we'd never get their games haha. As bummed as I am over the delay, if CD says they need more time, then they need more time. They're still a small studio doing the work that should prob be carried out by a studio 3x their size.
