The Witcher 3

Just got a shipping confirmation from bestbuy. I'm so stoked to finally play a witcher game. Best part is I'm off the next 2 days after its release date haha.

Games reset that stuff bc of memory limitations. I hope it doesn't end up like Bethesda games when too much extra content laying around affects the game's performance.

I think doing this stuff is important with things like dead characters, but not to the extent of Skyrim where you drop a thimble in your first cave and it's there 500 years later.

Is this the best reviewed game this gen thus far? I'm not counting "Super HD ports" that have their old score pulled over. They're not "next gen" to me.

The only other game I can think of that had similar praise across the board this gen is Shadow of Mordor, though it's entirely possible that I'm blanking on another game.

Since I'm new to the Witcher world I went ahead and preordered the hardback collector's edition strategy guide, but for some reason even with two day shipping and Prime membership Amazon is telling me it won't be delivered until May 21. I guess Prima isn't allowing Amazon to ship them until Tuesday.

Mordor has like an 87 meta score, so it ain't far off. But yea the two best reviewed games for this gen(not counting remasters) are Bloodborne and this. Which is funny as both games will cater to the same crowd, for the most part.

So I know this game has more intricate armor and crafting system than the past games. But, one thing I'm not seeing in all that is...helmets. So far none of the videos or interviews I've read about armor and crafting mention them. Can Geralt wear helmets or something on his face? Anyone know?

Hoods. That's about it. In the books, Geralt would sometimes wear a headband, though that seemed more like a nod to Conan the Barbarian to me.

To be honest, I'm not sure I've ever noticed him wearing chainmail or plate armor of any kind in the novels. CDPR is just trying to mix things up, but Skywalker's right. Witcher's focus on speed and movement.

Don't know if anyone else has noticed, but I just looked it up. They (finally) updated the cover for the upcoming english-translated release of 'Sword of Destiny', and it thankfully keeps the motif of using Witcher 2 artwork on the cover.

But, it looks like it's getting delayed. It was supposed to coincide with the games release on the 19th, but now it's listed as having a December 1st release date.

Still disappointed with how graphics turned out at the end for the PC version. I don't want to sound like a graphics wh***, since I've always been more of a gameplay-over-graphics gamer, but I think it could have still looked better than it is currently.

Still got a few days to think if I'll pre-order it on GOG...

It has an 84 on the PS4 and PC. An 87 on the Xbox One. Not that hard to check.

I'm glad fantasy games, and that includes Mordor obviously, have made such a good start. 3 top games already.
