The Witcher 3

So we can see that Triss is back as well. I wonder if Ves will appear in this game.

Damn son! Just watched the new trailer and this is a must buy for me.

Question though I haven't played any of the other games so will I be lost or should I get the gist of it? Are there YouTube vids going over the basics of the first 2 I could catch up with like Assassin's Creed?

Thing is Witcher games have a lot of branching storylines.

Not necessarily.
If you don't mind reading a little bit, the "Witcher Universe" compendium (third item from the left) is supposed to bring you up to speed if you're a total newcomer to the franchise.

Other than that - the following two videos recap the general storyline from the first game and give an insight on what Witchers exactly are:

Fair warning to the above videos, there is NSFW content. I mean it's all CG video game boobies and stuff, but still NSFW ;) .

Yea for sure, but don't forget there is a bigger gap between games that companies like CD Projekt put out. We get an AC game every year, its hard to spot those advancements on yearly titles.
They choose to do that. And really, how much difference has their been from AC 2 and Black Flag?

Is the white haired woman Geralt's adopted daughter?

Also, that Wild Hunt leader looks exactly like Sauron.
It is Ciri. :awesome:

After all that talk of no crossbows, looks like they are in. :D

They choose to do that because the consumer is asking for that. Its no different than any other annual title. Theres quite the gap between ACII and Black Flag. The world size alone has grown immensely and thats in the same console generation. With this game, one of the reasons we are seeing such a gigantic leap is because CD Projekt has tailored their game to work with these new machines. Ubi hasn't done that yet. So all of CD Projekt is focused on these new platforms and they are creating something stunning. We are seeing the same thing over at Rocksteady with their new Batman title. Once Ubi decides to leave the current gen platforms behind, then we can talk about their advancement or lack there of, but asking why Ubi hasn't advanced their games like CD Projekt has with Wild Hunt, comes with an extremely simple answer. They haven't started to truly develop for the next gen platforms.

Um, did you forget that the upcoming AC Unity is next gen only? Ubisoft is doing exactly what Rocksteady is with their series

The last 10 seconds of the 'Sword of Destiny'-Trailer are actually from another trailer, or rather cinematic, by the way. CDPR will debut this one sometime during E3, iirc.

I haven't seen Unity, but either way, im not sure ill even count it considering there is still going to be a current gen AC game. So Ubi still has one foot in the past, where Rocksteady and CD Projekt are fully focused on next gen. There will be no current gen Batman or Witcher being handled by different studios or what have you. Every penny is going into the next gen platforms and the experience will be better for it, as we are already seeing with this game.

I don't see what the PS3/360 AC has to do with Unity though bc the two are separate projects that don't relate to each other. Unity is pure next gen. Ubisoft releasing another game for the old consoles doesn't take away from Unity or diminish what the team is doing with that. Its not like Unity is being developed for inferior hardware and ported up as is the case with most of the cross gen titles. It isn't a cross gen title, so like Batman and The Witcher, its being developed from the ground up with the next gen consoles in mind. Heck I don't think a PS3/360 AC has even been confirmed. I guess we'll have to wait till E3 next year to see if AC is in fact even doing one

Im not sure I buy any of that at this point. Like you said we need to wait for the reveal at E3, but I have a funny feeling Unity is being made for the next gen platforms JUST to get fans to buy two AC games this year. One for next gen and one for the current. I don't, at this point, buy that Unity is being built from the ground up for next gen. Now if Unity comes out looking like the Witcher or Batman, then i'll take back every thing i said and I hope thats the case, Im just not sure it is.

So, I finally did some catching up today on the CDPR conference...and I immediately went out and pre-ordered the game at Gamestop. They had a poster for pre-ordering it, and there's a Wolf keychain (that looks like the one I got for pre-ordering The Witcher 2 before).

And yeah, I pre-ordered the Collector's Edition. Too hard not to, and CDPR seems to make about as strong an effort as any other developer to earn the money of the consumer. From my standpoint, they've got a lot of good will coming their way.

Oh, My, God. Ciri, Triss and Yennefer. :wow:

The trailer I have been begging for. The gameplay is really something else. It looks fantastic. This is also example of why while I like Watchdogs, Ubisoft's lack of progression is telling in the face of the Witcher 3.

Was that her next to Geralt and Triss? I missed that the first time I watched it.

But, holy ****...can't wait to see how the romance options play out with Triss and Yennefer involved. I know they set this up, and I think they even said she would be in this. But, to actually see her is something different.

It is Ciri. :awesome:

I'm pretty psyched to see Ciri, too. Looking forward to seeing Geralt meet up with her for the first time since he got swept up in the Wild Hunt.

Triss might be the greatest thing to ever happen to video games.

Absolutely agree, man. :highfive:

I actually interviewed executive producer John Mamais at E3 last year. Here's what he said.

Interesting. I wonder how much we will see of Roche and Ves.

It is crazy expensive, but I might just have to do it.

Yeah, that is Yennefer. Personally, gonna be hard to go against Triss, as much as I like Yennefer from the books, but we shall see. I hope there is a real option to choose Triss.

Ciri, more so then Yennefer, makes me excited for the story. She changes everything.

Triss is indeed special. :)

But in all seriousness - I honestly never felt that intrigued and such a thrill of anticipation to help a virtual character (in this case Geralt) with that kind of "ultimate decision" (which just has to be there, it's too good of an opportunity to not let the player decide between Triss and Yennefer).
That game, man...

Thinking about it and knowing CDPR and their knack for the unexpected, they just might have included a [BLACKOUT]seriously-hard-to-achieve option/point in the storyline where you not only could make out with both of them at the same time but also continue to live in a sort of loose polyamorous relationship[/BLACKOUT].

Haha. Yea I'm not sure what they'll do there, but I deff hope Triss is a big part of Geralts journey(well assuming the player wants her to be). I can't wait to see how it pans out and I really hope CDPR allows those of us not on the PC to somehow bring our choices over to this new game. By the end of my game, Geralt and Triss were pretty damn tight.
