Anyone seen this one? it's a cult comedy about an autistic savant boy who is a genius at video games and always beats them, Fred Savage plays his brother who takes him to California to beat a video game contest.

It's kind of a cross between "Rain Man" and "Tommy" (The Who movie) and considered as a 100 minute advertisment for Nintendo and Hostess but i had a blast watching this movie in years ever since i was a kid and it introduce everyone to Super Mario Bros. 3.

Yeah it was pretty cool! wasn't that the one with a nintendo glove... it was basically a marketing pad for Nintendo machines no? They use some glove to beat several video games... i could be thinking the wrong one

Yeah I remember it, who was the girl in it with Savage? I think she's now on Las Vegas?

The girl is Jenny Lewis, who is the lead singer for the band Rilo Kiley. Don't know much about them, my friend likes them.

Used to love this movie. Hated that the power glove turned out to be a piece of junk, that caused more trouble than it was worth.

"HE TOUCHED MY BREASTS!" Yea, good movie. :o

LOVED the Wizard and I still love the movie. It brings back great memories of my childhood and my obsession with Nintendo. Seeing Metroid, Zelda, TMNT, Mario, Ninja Gaiden, and Double Dragon was one of those nostalgic moments for me and how I used to be determined to beat those games.

You just don't have great fun films like this anymore.

Funny how I've NEVER beaten Super Mario Bros. 3 or Simons Quest. :o

This movie was the greatest commerical ever made.

I haven't beaten MB 3, or 2.

I love this movie. I watched it a couple years back with hesitation, because there are some movies that I watched a child. That I watched as an adult & wondered what the hell I was smoking.

But the Wizard brought it all back. I loved Super Mario Bros. 3. I remember what a huge letdown the glove was. I remember you have gaining hella respect for knowing all the ins & outs of a game. Good Times.

this is a great movie, christian slater, beau bridges, fred savage.

even tobey maguire makes a cameo while he was still in nappies lol

This movie all kinds of sucks, I'm sorry. I rewatched this actually recently, and it is just a big commercial. The emotional beats in the movie are not even serviceable, and it was just painful :csad:

HOW DO THEY KNOW ABOUT THE MAGIC FLUTE IN THE CASTLE WHEN NO ONE HAS PLAYED MARIO 3 BEFORE!!! IT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE!!!

I remember going to the theater to see it, and getting a promotional copy of Nintendo Power with my movie ticket. I remember that mini mag had some nice walk through info in it.

I love those guys. Especially Nostalgia Critic. His trashing of movies are epically hilarious

My personal favorite of his is for Jingle All the Way

The Tom & Jerry one is my favorite.

True, but if you're a kid in the 80s who's really into NES games, it didn't matter. When I was a kid, I wanted to see this movie for the SMB 3 footage alone.

The days before the Internet. You actually had to go into a movie theater and watch the entire movie in order to see those scenes.

Yeah this was like a movie in a pile of ****** scripts that Nintendo looked at as a big expensive commercial. As a movie it sucks my left nut...as a fun little piece of nostalgia that you can get enjoyment out of knowing how cheesy and bad it is (think Howard the Duck)...thumbs up.

I was thinking, if they made a remake of The Wizard what system would they use this time? Being that everything was mostly Nintendo, maybe the 360?

Please GOD no. This was bad enough then, it would only suck more as a remake. My brain would fry from the awfulness :csad:

This movie is solid gold and I don't think kids nowadays can actually appreciate it.

I don't think it could be re-made simply because I don't feel the "magic" of video games is as there now as it was back in the 80's.
