Check out the kid trying to do a deep voice with his non fitting bat mask and the really late reaction to getting his mums kitchen salt frown in his face. 20 odd minutes of unintentional funniness.

LOL

I know... and the dude who made this posts here and always gets extremely pissed off when you say something like this... :D

LOOOOOLLL... dude, but that fan movie is really crappy... I mean, come on, how can you take such stuff seriously...

Eric Smigiel's a friend of mine. The film has it's faults but given all of the Batman fan films I've seen over the last three years or so, this is hardly the worst.

Also it's quit ammusing that some of his story decisions (wrapping up Scarecrow's involvement/Bringing in Harvey Dent/Avoiding showing Joker's Chemical Bath Origin/Having Joker be the one to sca Harvey) are now being used or are rumored to be used for "TDK."

Budget was an issue so you can't legitimately criticize costuming or set design ect. I feel his Batman's voice as Bruce Wayne sounded too much like Batman himself, also he borrowed lines from Batman Begins and Batman: The Animated Series which I would personally avoid. It's certainly not the worst

Yeah but there were rumors at that time, but if WB staff saw this as a young passionated fan voice (we never know who watch videos on youtube), well perhaps it helped confirm some plot elements. That would be funny, improbable, but funny!

^Agreed. It's probably sheer coincedence, but it's rather funny that the plot points of Eric's film just happen to be up as potential "TDK" plot points as well.

Of course, some of those plot points were rumored for a while. :o

While this is certainly not the best fan-film, it is definitely not the worst. I do like how some of the ideas came together, though personally I'm not a fan of how Harv was scarred, but Joker was good.

I enjoyed it, mainly because it took itself so darn seriously.

As a writer/director of my own Batman short film, I can tell you that pulling off a dramatic piece for a young filmmaker is tough...more so than comedy.

Most people Eric's age don't have the maturity to even attempt acting in/making a film based on "Batman." So yeah definate kudos that they tried. Somethings didn't work but some things do.

Eric as a person has a very good sense of comedic timing, so his personal portrayal of the Joker (aside from taking lines from MOTP) was fairly well done. That comedic timing can be seen even more so in his recent fan made sequel to "The Mask."

Really? I gotta take a look at it, I guess he has a link of it on a site or with Brutality or Duality. It surely is 1 000 000 000 times better than son of the mask... I myself once planned a The Mask sequel on comic strip, starring the character of me, a Mask fan (lame, perhaps, but fun to imagine ourselves in the situations) finding the mask and receiving the mission and powers to stop the trash industry to produce crapfests such as the son of the mask, hehe! I think there was even a concept of Loki taking revenge on SotM cast and crew (except the blessed Alan Cumming) for what they did!!!!!!
I finally let it to that conceptual form, but I found it rather ironic and fun and a liberation to destroy the destruction!
EDIT : Just saw the trailer, his "smokin" at the end was quite good! I maintain what I said, never can beat the crappiness of SotM...heck, I haven't seen SotM but it sucks anyway!!!!!!!

I hardly think this is the worst fan film ever made. Ive seen some pretty darn bad ones and this is nowhere near that.

The Batman voice does annoy me tho, it seems as thoe everyone tries to hard to get the perfect voice.

The writing (moreso dialogue), costume, acting, voice work etc. is all pretty amateur, but I will at least credit him with his camera work and the plot he formulated. I mean, its bad, but it could be much, much worse, and the effort he put in does pay off, even if its juxtaposed with the amateurishness of the rest of the film.

Nah 'The Death Of Batman' has to be the worst. That is a piece of crap.

By far Death of Batman is the worst fan film.

This one (the smeigel sp? one) is just corny. Taking lines from Begins and TAS (tell them that joke you know, poor alfred how many times will he have to tell that joke) is just too easy and dare i say lazy. If hewants to betaken seriousley as a director/writer then he cany simply borrow other lines from the films, References to the past or comics yes but direct lines?

Credit where it's due the lad's still pretty young and that should be accounted for as should be his lack of money for sets and costumes. But thats no excuse for having Batman stood in daylight. It just makes me wonder how well he knows the source material.

I haven't watched the video link yet but I will say automatically the death of batman is the worst fan film ever hands down.

I have seen Batman Brutality & Duality, SeriousDuke posts here but I have not seen him in a while. Anyway, I really enjoyed his intentions. I applaud him for making a fanfilm, gathering together these resources and actors, basically pulling it off.

But with that said, so many fanfilmmakers are just going above their heads. Trying to do what they CANNOT do! If you do not have the proper resources and budget, why try to make something that will require such a large budget. If you're limited in these areas, why not just make a comedy, a drama, a much smaller piece?

Peter Jackson got the rights to Lord of the Rings in the early 90s. What if he had just made the entire trilogy of nothing but $5 Million? Yes, the script would have remained good, it may have had all the heart in the world, but it would have wound up being a terrible mess filmed in his backyard. That's how I feel about fanfilmmakers making films they don't really have access to.

Anyway, it's certainly not the worse. As Dark-knight, Rockbottom, and K.B, Death of Batman is by far the worse.

Hardest question ever asked.

Can I just say all of them-?!

Batman Beyond: Year One
Grayson
Patient J
Catwoman: Nine Lives
Batman: Legends
Batman Beyond The Lost Fan Film
Batman Formulas
Dark Justice

Each fan film has it's vulnerable points...some have more than one (that fills my quota for Superman movie reference).

But these I've found to be quite enjoyable.

And while I do respect your views Kevin, having Spiderman 3 as the top 07 CB Film in your sig AND ignoring 300 altogether makes me weary...

I enjoy all of those fanfilms as well except Batman Beyond Year One. I watched the first five minutes and couldn't take anymore. Maybe it was the awful desaturation and color displacement, I don't know.

But just by watching his fanfilms in order of they were made, you can really see Aaron Shoenoke's immense growth as a filmmaker.(yes, I know I probably spelled his last name wrong)

Yeah most people get his name wrong, but it's okay...

It's spelled Aaron Schoenke.
