this really sucks, however on the plus side hopefully this means Punk on commentry while he recovers.

Lol, when has this ever happened with an injured wrestler being a commentator until he recovers to wrestle again?

Although, that would make me hopeful to watch RAW again and I only have been recently because of Punk.

I could see Ziggler vs Rock with Cena then winning Rumble setting up Cena/Rock II

Mania likely going to be

Rock vs Cena
Brock vs Triple H
Orton vs Sheamus
Punk vs Taker
Big Show vs Ryback (botchfest galore)
Sandow as MiTB winner if it returns to Mania

^Not a card I'd buy :(

It happened with Punk. When he was injured before.

Punk did it for a few weeks last time he was recovering from surgery on his elbow (just before leading the Nexus)

I really hope this doesn't mean Punk has to vacate the title(didn't the same happen to Cena's title run, the one Punk just passed?) and Vince does his ****** walk down to the ring and gives the title to Ryback, his little own pet.

On the bright side, if that happens, that's the end of Ryback as an effective character. Kaput. Even the little jimmies would stop cheering for him.

how do you think they will "work" the Punk injury into the storyline????

The belief of multiple WWE sources is that C.M. Punk will be healthy enough to work the Royal Rumble pay-per-view in January. Punk has been working through a knee injury, so it's not as if he blew out his knee unexpectedly at Raw. Therefore, the suspicion of his colleagues is that if he had been working through the injury, they can't imagine that he wouldn't do everything he could to work the Royal Rumble. After all, the popular speculation is that Punk will face The Rock in what will be the most high profile match of Punk's career.

Powell's POV: Again, nothing is official regarding the timeline, but I would be surprised if Punk had surgery and risked missing the Rumble unless it was absolutely necessary. One would think that Punk would even go so far as to not wrestle from now until the Rumble and then gut his way through the match if at all possible. That said, Punk is considered questionable at best for the TLC pay-per-view and his main event match with Ryback.

have Rock show up in and destroy Punk and take him out for a couple of weeks, further hyping up their fued heading towards RR

What I would like:

Punk vacates the title due to injury, Cena Vs. Rock II at Rumble, Punk Vs. Rock at WM since it looks like Austin working the show is a no go.

Punk did it for a few weeks last time he was recovering from surgery on his elbow (just before leading the Nexus)

Coincidentally which started his feud with Cena!

If Punk did have to leave for some time...would he still come back as a heel? Maybe to finally have his match with Rock, who'll likely be a face?

No way should Punk vacate the title; it would just destroy the "# of days and counting" plotline with no payoff, and for no reason.

Punk's character is a prudent coward, and his manager is one of the most litigious characters in wrestling. It would be so incredibly easy just for Ryback to be "suspended" or Punk to slime his way out of his TLC contract. The TLC stipulation can be easily moved to the Cena/Ziggler match, and the pure ladder match can be given to Kofi Kingston (which would be :awesome: by the way).

It won't be the end of the world if the WWE title isn't defended at one non-core pay-per-view.

CM PUNK SURGERY AND FUTURE UPDATE
by Mike Johnson @ 4:08 PM on 12/4/2012

Dr. James Andrews scoped CM Punk's knee to repair a cartilage tear that was forcing Punk's knee to lock up today. While WWE blamed the injury on Ryback putting Punk through a table on Raw, the surgery was likely planned as Punk had been dealing with knee issues for several weeks.

According to several WWE Creative sources, there are no plans being made to current WWE storylines, so it appears Punk will continue his storyline with Ryback, although the knee surgery will be written into it.

While we haven't heard this 100%, the belief internally is Punk is still expected to wrestle at TLC. We shall see, but if that is the case, he is one tough SOB

it would be extremely anti-climactic if Punk was forced to vacate the title.......

although, I suppose he could always claim he was never beaten for the title........

Makes sense to me, but I guess they think Rock/Cena II at Mania is where the money is. Though I'd imagine Rock and Punk could have a much better build up.

Sucks about Punk. I hope this doesn't mean he has to relinquish the WWE title.

If Punk is injured then the possibility of Cena getting MITB just became all the bit more possible. Poor Ziggles!

Dolph's MITB contract is for the World Heavyweight Championship though, not the WWE Championship, which is what Cena would obviously go for.

Punk sure is a tough dude IF he has wrestled with a bad knee for weeks/has surgery today then wrestles in a ppv match soon!

Doesn't matter if Punk loses the belt at TLC or RR It's going to all lead to Twice in a Lifetime, which is a load of crap.

i hate the idea of a 2nd rock/cena match

"once in a lifetime" my a**

Completely sucks about Punk's injury.

Punk vs Rock would just be tons better than Rock vs Cena again. I'd love to see Punk/Rock get into an argument.

When they put Cena in that MITB match at TLC and then made note that he'd win and cash in and not lose again lead me to believe he is going to cash in at the end of the PPV. I can see him facing the Rock at RR and then maybe have Punk enter the Rumble and win it. Who knows. Then again, I can't see Cena losing to Rock 2 times in a row.

according to smackdown taping
punk vs ryback is off
ryback will team with team hell no against the shield at tlc

Makes sense, especially with the ending of RAW. So will a Ryback/Punk feud just be over with now since next month Punk/Rock will be focused?

Who's watching Ink Master? Jeff Hardy's on tonight's episode. And for those who miss it, it will encore at 1AM/Midnight CST.

This might be the first time in WWE/WWF history anyone could say that. Historically, the WWE/WWF has had trouble with compelling villains, but I can't remember them ever having trouble with compelling heroes before now.

Even during their low points during the New Generation era, Hart and Michaels were undeniably the top faces who each had massive crowd support. And the Undertaker was full time back then too.

Yep this current crop is a new low, they have two cartoonized wannabe stand up comics and a roided up oaf who is the amalgamation of several other better wrestlers, and now they have added frat boy rapeface to the mix.

When they put Cena in that MITB match at TLC and then made note that he'd win and cash in and not lose again lead me to believe he is going to cash in at the end of the PPV. Cena cashes in and pins Show to close the PPV, Rock beats Punk at the Rumble and Rock vs Cena becomes title vs title.

Good move to call the match off, they could have filled it out with The Shield running in early and basically beating Ryback down before taking a bunch of spots from him through tables to fill out the match, but this way is safer.
