On this day 10 years ago, Edge won the WWE Championship at New Year's Revolution 2006 from the Pepsi Arena in Albany, New York.

Mauro Ranallo killed it tonight, Ive become used to new WWE personnel being clunky on air with the product and it was pleasantly surprising to see someone handle it splendidly

This is intended as a compliment, but Mauro's pbp style reminded me of Vince himself.

I don't see the issue with guys changing their names once they get to the WWE. Unless they make their name something REALLY dumb like "Dolph Ziggler", then I think they are okay.

IMO, Kevin Owens, Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose are pretty bad a** names.

Yeah, I kinda wish WWE would go back to having a non-McMahon, non-Triple H commissioner.

Not sure why they haven't used Daniel Bryan in that role, at least until he can get cleared to be in the ring again.

I've always been of the mindset that the WWE commissioner should be a heel.

Seth Rollins would make a great one until he's gtg.

But its been a heel for so long, that they could really use a Face commish, like Shawn Michaels, Mick Foley and Stone Cold were for awhile, and would give them some return on their investment on Daniel Bryan while he awaits clearance. Using Rollins in that capacity just takes him away from rehab, and extends his absence from the show.

I wouldn't be against that. Sometimes face commissioners can be fun.

Especially if its for a short term run, while people are healing up or the heels commishes are focused in other stories.

Like on Monday Night, have some representative of the Board of Directors show up, and talk about how the McMahon family is too close to the Roman Reigns situation, so they Board has decided to bring someone in to run the show until this personal matter of theirs is resolved. Out comes Daniel Bryan to massive Yes Chants. He talks about his journey to WWE and all the international stuff, and how he is going to give the little guy a chance. So he puts several of the indy signees, (not the newest ones) in high profile matches, or brings up NXT guys like Sami Zayn for matches. Then closer to the Rumble he announces he has signed some new talent, and they will be revealed at the Rumble. That drives PPV buys and Network subscriptions to see who the new guys are, and its the Bullet Club and Nakamura.

Owens chose that name, its his sons name

I think the WWE could have their cake and eat it too. Keep the same scenario and just have a stable of wrestlers "represent" the Authority.

I'd keep your entire scenario, and at the rumble Dean Ambrose eliminates Lesnar and Reigns at the same time. This leads to a 3 way fued with Ambrose, Lesnar and Reigns with Lesnar and Ambrose struggling to keep it "friendly". Culminates at Wrestlemania with Reigns screwing Ambrose out of the title with help from Barrett, Ziggler and Charlotte. Stephanie comes out, shakes Reigns hand and deems this group "The Authority". Bam, you have a top heel stable that gets heat by association.

Meanwhile during all this, all the indy guys brought in by Bryan in your scenario dominate the US, Indy and Tag title scene along with Kevin Owens, New Day, etc.

What I care most about these days is in-ring action. I still love sports entertainment when done right, but I'd much rather watch Cedric Alexander or Roderick Strong than say, New Day. Honestly, I can't think of a single move New Day does besides Big E's running splash. I love them for their antics, but I don't think I've ever been impressed by their wrestling. This is why ROH is my favorite. They put most of their emphasis on wrestling so their "story lines" of "I'm a better wrestler," "No, I'm a better wrestler," are made exciting by knowing the talent of the men involved. They've also got partnerships with New Japan, putting on super shows during the year, and now a partnership with Pro Wrestling Guerrilla. ROH is the wrestling company that I want.

I think NXT can be both developmental and an anti-Raw, so to speak. Let the young guys learn their craft there and former international champions like Balor and the bingo hall guys like Zayn continue their careers and take it from there. It will continue to be viewed as the Jr. league as long as WWE treats it that way, but from what small amount I've seen, it is better than the main roster, regardless.

I disagree about the New Day. All 3 are talented wrestlers that put on good-to-great matches when call upon.

I don't think they're bad, but I don't even know their finishers. They've just never stuck out to me. I only remember the promos.

and thats fine for smaller crowds, the WWE audience at large would boo the hell out of an ROH show because the in ring is all they have

more like the fluff mixed with the in ring stuff, and their "antics" have made them the most over tag team IN YEARS in the WWE

fans like you want ROH to be accepted in the same vein as the WWE, to have the big platform, and then you get cranky when you realize that is never gonna happen

ROH is minor league ball and there is nothing wrong with that

Nah, I'm totally fine with ROH where it is on the scale of pro wrestling. I paid 110 bucks for two second row, ring side seats at a show that will be recorded on DVD that I can purchase later, featuring great wrestlers (at one point AJ Styles was a headliner), instead of $110 for one third row seat at a WWE house show featuring the superstar Kane, who is big because of his history and name, no longer his ability. Ring of Honor is so much for so little compared to WWE.

Glad to hear Ranallo was a home run. Brannan sucks.

Tonight in Houston, Texas: Sheamus Vs. Brock Lesnar finally happens!

I hope this is an actual match. It's one I've wanted to see for a long time now

I don't consider ROH to be minor league -- I think they're one of the only true major league wrestling promotions. WWE isn't a wrestling promotion anymore, it's a TV/movie production studio that still happens to put on a wrestling (or, as they unfortunately insist upon calling it, sports entertainment) show. And I'm not passing a value judgment on that; just saying that ROH and WWE set out to accomplish very different things. WWE is major league at what it does, ROH is major league at what it does. ROH is pure pro wrestling, WWE is a TV show.

I would prefer if they got rid of authority figures all together.

I don't mind authority figures, but they need to be neutral and they rarely are. The authority figures should be rarely seen but when they are they shouldn't favor faces or heels.

Even with the Austin vs McMahon feud, it was downright stupid for Vince to be against Austin being champion when it was clearly best for business for him to be on top.
