The Wrestling Thread's Never Been So Disgusted With a PPV... - Part 139

My thing is how could they not see this happening? I'm sure plenty within the company knew this was a mistake, but didn't speak up because they're a bunch as Punk said "Yes Men."

I may be pissed at WWE right now but I'm still getting the network

Ironically, had Bryan been in the Rumble and somebody other than Batista won the match, this would've been a really good show overall.

Felt like I just watched a M Night movie. It was good until the ending came.

"It's not best for business."

It reminds me of Monday Nitro when Eric Bischoff was explaining the master plan by the heels at Slamboree 2000 to use David Arquette to trick DDP and put the title back on Jarrett...and Bischoff insulted "guess what idiots on the internet who called this a disgrace?! We tricked you!" Yeah you tricked us by putting the heavyweight title on David Arquette for no reason just to get the title back to Jarrett?

Well, I guess this is as good as anytime to check out NJPW. I watched a PWG PPV with some friends on Friday and while they enjoyed it, I got annoyed at some of the non-selling and spottiness of the matches. But that's indy wrestling.

While I don't get the hype for him, Kevin Steen isn't bad, IMO. He had an entertaining match on the card, and I had seen him live a few times. Though I don't understand what makes him special in the eyes of many. He honestly seems no better than the typical indy guy.

I started tuning out of WWE in 2005-2006-ish. Eventually I came back, but now its even worse.

Am I mistaken or does R.D. Evans have the Food Lion logo on his tights?

Damn, even Rock had some kind of build up. Plus, he's Rock. But holy s***, Batista literally returned last week and he already wins the Rumble and is headlining Wrestlemania. Man, the perks of being friends with Haitch. I am so glad that the fans have s*** all over this. What an insult to the rest of the roster.

Just read that Batista taunted the yes chant and gave fans the finger after the show went off the air. Read it on wrestlingforum.com

After tonight, this guy may get a few disgruntled and angry WWE fans:

His event of Fox was 1000 times better than the piece of garbage we had tonight.

Rock did have build up and he IS The Rock. Again, my comparison still stands: The Rock is Hulk Hogan and Batista is Kevin Nash.

Dude acts like a Class A cocksocket on the net but you wont hear the Mcmahon apologists saying he deserves to get buried now will you?

It's been the track record of the WWE in recent years. People have been getting cheered and becoming popular IN SPITE of what the WWE wants to happen. Punk became huge after his pipe bomb against the company. Bryan started rising up because they screwed him in the three second match against Sheamus. Ziggler gets cheered because he works his ass off in spite of the horrid booking he's given. And Reigns is cheered because no one wanted Batista to win.

It started years ago with Cena sucks chants. They became persistent about ignoring fans. Now we're stuck same old b.s. while half a dozen star s will never reach full potential. Shameful. I'll give them until the launch of the network to fix this situation.

Me and my GF are SO going to get a "**** Batista clap clap clap clap clap **** Batista!" chant going at Mania. :woot:

I'm more pissed that Batista won rather than db not being in the rumble. Don't get me wrong I love Bryan and thinks he deserves to be the top guy. But when you bring guy in like batista who on his 2nd night back after a 2 year abbsence wins the rr it's really fricken bs. I would've been all for reigns winning tonight but no HHH best buddy Batista has to win the rr.

Ditto.

Makes me wish I had never come back.

However, seeing Rey Mysterio win the WHC have me ill-placed hope for WWE's future.

At the end of the summer, WWE tried to build up their Authority faction by putting the world title on Randy Orton. The fans didn't care. They chanted "Daniel Bryan".

In December WWE tried to play off their shotgunned Cena-Orton feud as the "biggest match of all time." They put a dozen legends in the ring, held both of the world titles, and the fans didn't care. They chanted "Daniel Bryan".

At the Royal Rumble, Cena and Orton were absolutely buried in a tidal wave of hate. Fans chanted "we want Divas". Then they chanted "Daniel Bryan."

Fans hated Batisa's Rumble match win so much, Roman Reigns almost became a babyface just because he was the last guy left in the ring with him. Fans chanted "Daniel Bryan", and WWE physically turned down the crowd, and boosted Big Dave's music to drown them out.

At WrestleMania XXX, an event I'm sure WWE will market as the biggest pay-per-view of all time, fans will completely ignore Orton-Batista and chant "Daniel Bryan".

It's not John Cena's fault. It's not Randy Orton's fault, or Batista's fault. None of them said "hey, put me in the main event and bury Daniel Bryan, or I'm going to quit." But those guys are going to get the bulk of the heat because there's no way to actually boo the backstage creative writers. I'm sure Dave won't be happy that his big return was crushed. Cena won't care because he's a company guy, and he'll do anything they ask him – that's why he is where he is. Randy Orton is the champion, and he played off the fan's apathy like a world class talent.

Daniel Bryan was fed to Bray Wyatt at the Royal Rumble to beef up the Family for an oncoming feud with John Cena. The message is pretty clear: Bryan doesn't matter. He's an afterthought. Fans love him, but what do we know? That has never been more evident than the rumors that Bryan will face Sheamus at WrestleMania. Don't get me wrong – Bryan and Sheamus have put on amazing matches in the past, but it's a rematch nobody cares about, or wants.

So what can we do? We can go online and complain about it. I got a ridiculous amount of support for just two tweets I sent out on Sunday night:

Bryan Response Final
The honest answer is that there's nothing you can do, that you're actually willing to do. Keep chanting; it probably won't matter. WWE was willing to go the distance with CM Punk when the fans got behind him, but they took 100% credit for that reaction. WWE will take credit for the Bryan reaction by siting their booking as the reason behind it. Somehow, in their mind, fans chanted for Bryan at the Royal Rumble because their decision-making is good.

You can stop watching Raw. Stop ordering PPVs. Don't order the WWE Network. Watch Impact Wrestling, who got the best rating in two years this past week. But even the most diehard Bryan fans won't stop consuming. We're wrestling fans; you can't NOT watch WWE every week. They know that. They've built a monopoly on that fact.

Find an alternative. For most of you, it won't be TNA. Watch Pro Wrestling Guerrilla. They have the most fun in-ring product in the world today. Watch Ring of Honor, whose roster is coming into its own with the return of Chris Hero and AJ Styles. Keep watching WWE, and keep chanting for Daniel Bryan. But realize it's not going to matter.

If and when WWE decides to do something with Daniel Bryan it will be on their terms, once the fans have calmed down. They'll break him, and then build him back up because everyone on top has to be there because WWE put him there. There's no room for new Rock or Austin level stars to be born naturally, the way there used to be.

WWE owns you.

As Batista said, "deal with it."

4 year absence. Batista was never even a great draw. Cena was always there to carry the load. I mean Ultimate Warrior was more of a draw. Not to mention Batista was always injured. How do you know he won't reinjure something before your biggest show?

Batista always played second fiddle to Cena and that's a fact.

I agree, fans have to vote with their wallet at the end of the day. That means, no WrestleMania, no WWE Network, etc.

I think part of it has to with how he has a very diverse moveset and a lot of athleticism despite not really looking like he would.

NJPW is a good product and puts on consistently great cards and matches. They don't mind elevating the younger guys and putting titles on new faces. They actually give guys a chance to run with the ball.

Honestly some of my favorite matches in the last 10 years have been either from NOAH or NJPW.

NOAH's glory days are kinda over at this point. They sorta peaked in 05-06, but NJPW has been having a nice resurgence as of late it seems.
