They were planning for the show to end after S5 and continue with movies, but the ratings were too good for the studio to cancel the show, so it was renewed for more, and the first episode of S6 picks up right where the first movie left off.

Thanks, I've actually seen the film, and it seemed like it was meant to be wrapping a bunch of stuff up so that makes total sense.

For years I had hoped they brought this back. Knowing that the old regime at Fox didnt put any effort into this whatsoever, it was kind of a huge dissapointment that we would never see this again. I honestly searched frequently for any xfiles news hoping someday this would happen.

To see all of this promo material after that kind of hopeful struggle is such a great experience.

Now Im curious as to why the office in the FBI basement is still mulderized. Someone leaving him a threat or message perhaps?

Soooo I'm assuming they are completely ignoring the last half of the last part of the very last season? Because the whole alien invasion in 2012 never happened and apparently the lung cancer smoking guy didn't get blown up.

There have been rumors Mulder will come to believe in this that conspiracy
wasn't exactly what he thought it was.

it seems like the miniseries will finally present the X-files version of the roswell incident with what appeared to be flashbacks to 1940's.

Big question is how they are bringing back CSM and the Lone Gunmen.

CSM has been thought dead multiple times only to resurface. But the Lone Gunmen we saw as ghosts, so not sure how they are going to come back unless they get resurrected.

I'm sure it's been mentioned, but in the season 10 comics The Lone Gunmen [blackout]returned and said they faked their deaths so they could work more discreetly.[/blackout]

Not sure if they will use that in the new show, or come up with something different.
