I must have stopped watching earlier than I thought, I had no dies Mulder and Scully had been together and had a kid.

I thought the episode was pretty decent even if the whole dialogue between Mulder and Scully when he was trying to convince her felt like they were struggling to buy into what they were selling, then Joel McHale followed up to reinforce the new story that the previous seasons were based on a lie. Having said that I quite like the new direction for the overarching storyline.

It was also good to see the actress from The Americans, she has popped up in a couple of things recently, good for her! The effects on the ARV were also really cool.

OK, didn't the show already do this in like season 6? And then didn't they turn around say, "Ha fooled you! There are actual aliens and stuff!"

Just saw the first episode.
As the voice started it occurred to me that I never saw the X Files in original version ( saw it French subbed when it aired here ).
Classic intro rolling.
Good start, Roswell flashbacks, Mulder & Scully re-introduction, quick story pacing.
At the end, based on the informations provided, I was wondering : are they retooling the first "alien conspiracy" arc ?? ( I double it for effect ).
The little smile on my face : The Smoking Man is back and still smoking.

I didn't see past original season 5 and the first movie but I read an in depth summary of the mytho arc recently ( can't remember the web site ), anyways, there were aliens, bad one, good one, bounty hunters and the whole Syndicate organization, the US Gov dealing with alien.
Now we are lead to think that The Syndicate was manipulated by another hidden power in the shadow organization and that Mulder and Scully forget the events the lived ?
It's the Russian doll of conspiracy.

Am I the only one who shook his head when Moulder and Skullywere arguing back and forth about the truth is out there? Probably the worst acting I've ever seen in the series. It really looked like an out take! With that being said, I actually enjoyed the first episode and have no idea why critics have hated it. It's like it never left, unlike Heroes Reborn. What a bunch of crap!

Are you an X-Files fan? Because if so you should be ashamed. Look at how you spelled their names. It's Mulder and Scully.

I really liked that episode. Kind of alongside the conspiracy, but nice and standalone. Classic. And they haven't lost their touch on the creepiness and gore. And the humor.

I've liked the first two episodes but not sure I like this new story that everything before was one big conspiracy and that most of the alien stuff was made up by the government

It is weird. The nun at the hospital reminded me of the actress who was Eve in season 1. Weird coincidence.

It's not really a rumor since the production codes themselves show that they're airing the show out of order. Based on the production codes, the show is airing in the following order: 1, 5, 3, 2, 4, 6. From someone who worked closely with the writers and producers, the airing order was changed by Chris Carter himself because he thought it helped the story flow better.

The dream-like stuff with Mulder and Scully and their kid confused the hell out of me. The central story was good though.

With ya there! I thought tying in this larger conspiracy to real world issues was a great (and creepy) way to cement the show in our reality.

I thought tonight was a step up from the first episode, everyone seemed more comfortable with their roles and the freak of the week style helped things move along at a much better pace. I didn't like the fact that it had almost nothing to do with last nights episode though.

Learning that they're airing out of order seems strange, but who am I to judge these types of decisions lol. My only concern is that with only 4 more episodes to go, will they be able to tackle all, or at least most of, the dangling threads?

So if I understand it, all the alien stuff and mythology from the original series and movie is real, it's just that it was all a distraction so people wouldn't realize the government was creating alien human hybrids? Still don't understand how CSM fits in, as well as the black oil stuff from the movie, but I'm guessing they probably won't address the latter.
