Sci-Fi The X-Files - 6 Part Event Series

The episode was clearly a key episode in the epic mythology of the series.

If the show returns (and it will), how long do you guys think it should be?

Because of the format (Mythology, MOTW, comedic, etc) , a regular 22 ep season is possible, but maybe scheduling may be difficult. One can only hope that with an extended cast this could be possible.

Id say a minimum 12 eps.

The only thing that we know for sure is that it will never be 22 episodes again.
But, it doesn't have to be.
Until the schedules of the two leads opens up, 6 is probably the best way to go.

I don't care if it's 3 episodes. I'll take whatever I can get.

I enjoyed the new season. The only episode of the 6 I really didn't care for was last weeks.

Im in agreement guys. I am very happy with anything we get. I do think this will yield a big future in terms of content.

I think Fox is thinking of this as a franchise and one of their crown jewels. Theyve certainly spent on the marketing accordingly. They may be interested in a full season due to the ratings, but DD and GA are clear in not being interested in long seasons. Then again maybe its all just a negotiation tactic. With this new series pretty much the future of the franchise (and the financial future of DD&GA&CC) is almost guaranteed so I dont see them turning this down just because. And well they also do love the franchise.

I think Miller and Einstein are characters to carry the load and not put it all in DD & GA's shoulders. They could do some MOTW eps by themselves. It would make the schedule easier for everyone I suppose.

I wouldn't be able to tolerate Einstein and Miller episodes, especially Einstein centric ones since I wanted her to get killed off in this episode.

The cliffhanger ending was massive and it sure better get a new season soon even if it's only 6 episodes again.

What a crappy way to end the current mini series. Hopefully we get another one asap.

The series will be back soon enough. There isnt any doubt in my mind at this point. The monster cliffhanger is pretty much testament to that.

Einstein needs to chill the f out. lol

This series just opened up a whole box of posibilities for the future, on top of the stuff they could bring back and revisit. Id also like to find out more about the Reyes/CSM agreement.

I agree the episode seemed rushed. Another 30 minutes would have helped it play a little more smoothly. Overall I enjoyed all of the episodes. I look forward to seeing X-Files returning to Fox even as a limited season show.

Have to work out contracts first, and they could wait until may.

They have to work out the schedule and DD&GA Im sure are pushing for $$$

between Duchovny working on Aquarius and Gillian working on The Fall over in the UK, some juggling is going to be needed to be done as to scheduling commitments...

The Fall is wrapped, and Aquarius has 13-episode seasons, so they should be able to make it work.

Itll work sooner rather than later. Its just a matter of time before NBC cancels Aquarius because, well, its NBC.

Yeah, but NBC wasn't supposed to renew Acquarius.
I give them a little credit for that.

If the producers were not sure about Duchovny and Gillian availability for another season they should not have ended this one with a cliffhanger but that's just my opinion as an audience.

I feel that overall, this mini series was a bit of a let down. Considering all the time they had to work on it, it felt rushed. The only episode I really enjoyed was the Were-Monster episode.
I didn't hate it and it did "feel" like X-Files, but I just felt like something was missing.

If the producers were not sure about Duchovny and Gillian availability for another season they should not have ended this one with a cliffhanger but that's just my opinion as an audience.

I get the impression they are toying with the idea of eventually having Miller and Einstein become the leads and Scully and Mulder being recurring. That would allow them to have full yearly seasons without always having the fate and timing of the show resting on Gillian and Duchovny's other commitments.

That is what I am thinking too but they are obviously wary of telling the audience that before testing the waters.

Another thing they should keep in mind for the next season is don't let Carter write anymore episodes. He's like George Lucas in that he came up with a great premise but has always had better luck with other people writing the stories instead. This is almost the Prequels for Carter.

Which ep were directer by Carter ? I didn't find much differences in quality between episodes just a difference in personal preferences.

He directed the first, fifth and last episodes, the ones generally seen as the weakest episodes. I thought Babylon was okay but still weaker than the others.
