Sci-Fi The X-Files - 6 Part Event Series

I see, Carter did the mytho episodes maybe that's why these ep were not seen as good as others, the mytho a mess.

I just happened to look it up on Wikipedia and found that the highest amount of viewers during the entire run of the series was the Leonard Betts episode during the fifth season with 29 million viewers, while this season's Babylon episode was watched by the least amount of viewers with 7 million watching...

Is that 7 million including the 7+ day numbers, streaming, and on demand numbers?

Just watched episode 6...WTF there better be a season 11!!!

I didn't like the opening tagline being switched to 'the end is here' especially with the way it ended. They could have given us a little more. Granted they are expecting to do more at some point but that was still a rather unsatisfying ending.

What character(s) would you be interested to see in the future?

For me a return of the black oil would be nuts.

I'D like to see the next generation of that bizarro, inbred family, the Peacocks... one son and the mother escaped in the Home episode... it would be a hoot to see Miller and Einstein going up against one one of the most disturbing characters in the show's history...

That was a big "**** you" to the audience who waited all those years for the show to come back then ended it on a finale for another season that had no guarantee of renewal.

It may seem certain now there will be another season but when they were filming this, before the first episode even aired, they had no way of knowing what the reception was going to be like.

Carter really pissed me off ending the show on what looked like a commercial break.

Yeah Teelie, it ended like that here in Australia . . . no end credits or anything. Not good enough Mr. Carter.

Okay, now the whole world definitely knows that there are UFOs - this is now an undeniable truth. So are Duchovny and Anderson signed up to continue, or are Miller and Einstein backup insurance if the two decide they've had enough?

And yes, they definitely need to bring back the Peacocks!

Did anyone notice that when Cancer Man explained those behind the conspiracy that Director Skinner was among the pics of those participating?

Good call. With the episode "Home Again" I think some people were thinking thay may revisit that. I

think that episode was one of the most messed up Xfiles experiences ever! Right up there wiht Tooms as one of the best!

This is the story on the return so far.

For years, the execs at Fox were not very Xfiles friendly (despite some MAJOR efforts from the fan communities i.e. twitter trending campains, sending 1013 pictures to the people at Fox, etc) after the original run of the show. In the last year or two, they stepped down and the people running the network are the folks that were producers of all the sucessful programming that Fox had in the 90s.

About 1.5 yrs ago, rumours of a BluRay restoration of the show were in place. Then some proof started to surface and people started to speculate something was going on beyond a simple release. Now This effort was something fans had never seen before which started the speculation, although it was clear to fans that the Xfiles fan base in the past 8-10 years had actually GROWN, thanks to the reach of the internet and netflix. Many fans were always left wondering why Fox didnt really understand this cult following.

Now Chris Carter, GA, DD, Spotnitz, etc. have all been game to return at any given time during the years. The problem was always the heads of the network who did not believe the show could perform specially after the response to t he second movie (why those same exec guys thought it was a good idea to put it against TDK is beyond me). The network was the reason. Not the fans or the talent in the show.

Now time has passed and everyone was busy, but at some point Carter and Fox started having conversations about the show. Its obvious that in a landscape of mythology and world building that is tv and movies now, the xfiles was a pioneer and a crown jewel as a franchise. Not to mention they fully own the rights to the whole thing. Make no mistake about this, Fox spent big on the marketing of the show like it was exctly that: A major franchise. It came through big. They own the property and would clearly like to milk it from a business perspective.

This is why you are seeing an established logo, merchandise, new characters and a cliffhanger ending. No doubt that the idea is to return and it will happen. This even series sets up a whole story arc moving forward. The idea was to continue and I am suspecting Carter and Fox have a roadmap including perhaps a theatrical release. Theyve gone even as far as to hint that they will make more to flat out say they want to or to for example call the end of the event series a SEASON finale. No reason to think everyone wont make the effort to keep it going. Now this whole were too busy cant do full seasons is a legitimate concern with GA and DD, but I think its also a negotiation tactic. I believe they will become available in time once Aquarius is out of the equation and Miller and Einstein are there so that they dont have to carry so many hours of taping by themselves.

The X-Files Update: David Duchovny, Gillian Anderson, Chris Carter 'On Board' For Season 11, Per Fox CEO

You better believe The X-Files will be back.

During a conference call with reporters to tout Fox’s 2016-17 schedule, chairman and CEO Dana Walden confirmed that there have been “conversations” with series creator Chris Carter and stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson, adding, “I believe everyone is on board to do another installment of the show.” Walden conceded however that there will be some scheduling hurdles to overcome, but, “Hopefully this time next year we will have more news.”

I will believe it when i see it.shw won't be on at all for 2016-17 season.I am skeptical
if by now they haven't reached deal why another year will be different.

I'm ready for some more and can wait a year or two if we can get some quality episodes. :)

I'm for a 10 episode season, as long as they take their time and devote a little more story quality to it than season 10...

Hopefully they can get Darin Morgan to do another one and maybe get Vince Gilligan back this time too. Basically the more eps not written by Carter the better, imo.

Nothing yet though with Duchovny freed up it from Aquarius that is one less constraint.

Seeing people putting The X-Files on their worst of 2016 lists, completely overlooking the were-monster episode...

Agree. The Were-Monster episode is one of the best in the whole series. Every other episode could of been ****, but it was worth it just for that.

Not sure why there is so much dislike for the new season though. Only episode I didn't care for was Babylon. Only good thing about that was Mulder tripping on mushrooms.

I thought the bookends of the season were kind of meh. Ending things ambiguously/with things up in the air was an astonishingly bad idea. This wasn't a season ending in May with the promise of the next starting up in September. If there is another, it may well be years away. Give some level of closure.

Fox very close to ordering more episodes

At the Television Critics Association’s press tour in Pasadena, California on Wednesday, Fox president David Madden told reporters that while the deal-making is “complex” on the show due to the schedules of stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson, the network expects “to have an announcement shortly.”

After Fox’s executive session, Madden told us he wanted to have a reveal ready for Wednesday’s event, but any deals weren’t quite done.

Fox is looking to have more than the shortened, six-episode season that was ordered for last year’s revival … but also cautioned that its order won’t be as large as a traditional 22-episode broadcast series.

Most likely, The X-Files will return in 2018, the executive noted
