Sci-Fi The X-Files - 6 Part Event Series

I'd be down for this, gotta have Mulder & Scully back tho or no dice.

I'd rather have a complete reboot, that way the writers won't have their hands tied by the first shows canon.

David Duchovny on Board with The X-Files Revival

News broke this weekend that FOX is in discussions to revive The X-Files and now David Duchovny has stated he’s ready to reprise the role of Agent Fox Mulder. On Tuesday, Duchovny told USA Today that he’s “more than happy and excited to bring it back and do it again with (co-star) Gillian (Anderson) and (series creator) Chris (Carter).”

Fox TV Group chairman Gary Newman announced at the channel’s TCA presentation on Saturday that they’re in talks to revive Carter’s classic TV series. Newman had said that they would like to bring back Duchovny and Anderson.

The 54-year-old Duchovny added: “I’m assuming that it will happen sooner rather than later now. We’ll see what form, how many (episodes). Certainly I can’t nor would I be interested in doing a full season. It will be in some kind of limited form. We’re all old, we don’t have the energy for a full season.”

Duchovny is also part of the upcoming NBC series “Aquarius,” a show which FOX would presumably have to schedule around.

NONONO... keep Reyes and Doggett OUT of this and keep it to just Mulder and Scully... Reyes and Doggett only remind me of the bad period of XFiles... and besides, if Scorpion has a lengthy run, it should keep Robert Patrick occupied with THAT and out of the XFiles...

I might be alone on this but season 8 for me was one of my favourite seasons, which for me was all down to Doggett and Scully's relationship that evolves through the season.

Good to see Mulder is onboard :yay:

Yeah I'm also one of the peeps that likes season 8. Thought the whole finding Mulder story was good stuff. And got even better once he returned.

Exactly considering some of Mulders story lines wrapped up, the search for Mulder was a good arch.

I wonder if Mitch Pileggi, who played Walter Skinner, will be back in some capacity?

Skinner should definitely be back. I wouldnt mind seeing agent Dogget in a cameo either. Now I know they died and returned in the comics, but the lone gunmen I would like to see as well. Jeffrey Spender as a new CSM? hell bring everyone back from the dead! lol

A good plotline I think the show could follow is the search for William.

I also suspect that the BluRay conversion release of the show should come out the moment they officially announce the show. Id like to get it as Im itching to introduce my fiancee to the entire run of the show.

I watched about half of the first season earlier this year. I was surprised at how well it holds up.

I'm watching the first season again now and it indeed holds up very well.

It sure does. The thing is that with all the cyber security issues, evil corporations, terrorism, spying, ect the xfiles has lots of conspiracy material to work with in todays world.

All i have to say carter better address Mytholgy here and not do a few stand alone episodes.

Dogget and Reyes should DEFINITELY play no part. There's being respectful of continuity and then there's unnecessarily shoehorning in third wheels. I don't even dislike Dogget (Reyes sucks though), but there's no need to open that whole can of worms again.

I've been avoiding this thread because I thought it was a complete reboot but holy sh-t! They managed to get Duchovny and Anderson back! :wow:

The truth is out there right here: The X-Files is indeed returning to Fox, with original stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson reprising their respective roles as Fox Mulder and Dana Scully.

Fox has officially ordered a six-episode continuation of its phenomenally successful supernatural drama, to shoot this summer and (presumably) air at some point next season. (An official airdate remains TBD.)

“I think of it as a 13-year commercial break,” said X-Files creator Chris Carter, who will oversee the new episodes. “The good news is the world has only gotten that much stranger, a perfect time to tell these six stories.”

The X-Files ended its nine-season run on Fox in May 2002, but the franchise was resurrected on the big screen in 2008’s The X-Files: I Want to Believe, a follow-up to 1998’s The X-Files: Fight the Future. When last we saw Mulder and Scully in Believe, they were grudgingly helping the FBI find some missing women/bust up a bizarre, Frankenstein-like operation in Virginia. Also important to know: The bureau had pardoned Mulder for going on the lam (at the end of the series’ run), Scully had returned to her medical career, and the partners were still romantically entangled and living together.

Duchovny will next be seen in NBC’s Charles Manson-themed drama Aquarius, while Anderson has Season 3 of Hannibal on deck. Coincidentally, the two shows will air back-to-back on Thursdays this summer.News of the X-humation comes roughly a year after Fox jump-started another one of its marquee franchises, 24, with a limited-series order. Although Live Another Day didn’t make much noise in the ratings, it was well-received by critics and fans alike.

“We had the privilege of working with Chris on all nine seasons of The X-Files — one of the most rewarding creative experiences of our careers — and we couldn’t be more excited to explore that incredible world with him again,” said Fox chairmen Gary Newman and Dana Walden in a statement. “The X-Files was not only a seminal show for both the studio and the network, it was a worldwide phenomenon that shaped pop culture — yet remained a true gem for the legions of fans who embraced it from the beginning. Few shows on television have drawn such dedicated fans, and we’re ecstatic to give them the next thrilling chapter of Mulder and Scully they’ve been waiting for.”

Well, time to continue the series rewatch. I'm up for some more Mulder and Scully. I even liked the last movie.

Wonder how it'll tie in with the canonical comics by IDW Publishing!!!

Oh, this is about to be a ratings bonanza.

Yeah, I just heard. I'm not exactly sure how they'll do it yet, but we'll see? X-Files is one of my top 5 favorite tv shows, so I'm down. I'm just happy Chris Carter is back. I know Duchovny and Anderson were willing to do more, but I remember Carter being a bit hesitant about it all. Can't wait!

Hopefully they do more alien storylines than the monster ones. I was never a huge fan of the monster episodes.

I just don't want it to be ignored and considered old hat. A LOT of shows since then, some that are still airing now, are using that dynamic.

I hope by six stories Carter doesnt mean individual, I.e. non serialized stories. I don't mind a monster of the week story thrown in but the entire myth arc storyline never got any real closure. I'm going to be honest and say I'm not particularly thrilled he's writing all 6 episodes either.

I still can't believe this is happening... This is the first adult-ish show that I got obsessed with. :funny:

Oh, this is about to be a ratings bonanza.

Not sure about the ratings but I'm 100% that Tumblr would be all over this. It already has a cult following there and it's totally the type of show (like Hannibal) that the GIF-making generation loves.

Man I am PUMPED for this. Hope it is worth it.

I hope this is almost like a minseries.after second film we need to get back to mytholgy.
I will be disappointed if it's only mytholgy for episode 1 and 6 or 1,5,and 6
