Sci-Fi The X-Files - 6 Part Event Series

I couldn't handle the musical choices in this episode, lol. So cringey. But highly entertaining at the same time. Not enough of the Lone Gunmen, though. I liked Einstein and Miller, so I'm glad they don't appear to have just been a one-off.

Not ready for it to end. :(

You can go ahead an announce that new season any time now, Fox.

It is frustrating, because it is entirely dependent on Duchovny and Anderson. Much like Arrested Development.

I think Fox has learned their lesson of trying to replace Mulder and Scully. I hope.

I don't think we'll have to wait as long for more X-Files as we likely will have to wait for more AD.

Mulder trippin' was hilarious. That made the whole episode to me. :funny:

Was Miller also at the preview for nex week's ep? I only saw Einstein.

Im done.

I watched X-Files from the first episode when it aired. I was a really big fan of this show for the first 5 seasons before it began to unravel. I was really hoping they could bring some magic back and make it work where these guys are at it again in a much different world.

Nope.

Enjoy.. Im out.

I never got why people said it started declining after S5, IMO S6 is one of the best, probably even better than S4 and S5. I'm also in the minority, but I would say S8 is a top3 season IMO. As much as I loved the atmosphere and Mulder/Scully, some of the early seasons have several filler episodes. S7 and S9 are pretty meh though.

New season has been good but not amazing. E3 was amazing, the rest has been OK/decent. But that third episode, boy what a good one.

I like Miller but not Einstein, One more episode to go is very sad! :(

I was really hoping they could bring some magic back and make it work . . .

That's what I was hoping too, but this has been kind of a mess. I guess I'm in the minority - I very much disliked that were-reptile episode.

Thanks for speaking up Conan -- I'm with you.

I really liked last nights episode and was also a big fan of the Werebeast episode.
Its not the first time the show mixed scares with laughs.

These episodes including Werebeast is classic X-Files and so I dont get the comment about the magic missing when it all seems to be here, Mulder and Scully are still themselves.

Nice, some Tom Waits... everything needs more Waits.

I've enjoyed the mini-series so far and really liked last night. I'm sure next week will leave plenty of open plot lines for the next time.

I think that there is a real possibility that they could go full on cliffhanger.
I think that here is some form of resolution next week, maybe not all of the answers, but a few .

Another fun episode.
Mulder tripping was great and the dynamic between Mulder/Scully and Einstein/Muller was also very funny.

While i realize this is not the proper place for this, I'm not allowed to open a new thread (even though its the one reason i created an account here, but here goes).

I started binging the X-files from the pilot the other day (currently at the middle of season 2). However, I am supremely bothered that unlike what my idealistic childhood memories conveyed, Mulder is probably the most inept agent to ever live, plus he's a complete *****.
I'm not saying that he should have Jack Bauer-esque badassary, but the man has no balls whatsoever which, coupled with his lack of professionalism, leads to a repeating scenario. Every possible witness manages to bail because Mulder screams at him from miles away "FEDERAL AGENT", chases him for a bit, gets hit by something and loses him. Every possible wuss gets the upper hand in a physical exchange with Mulder because the FBI agent doesnt have the heart (or possibly the common sense) to kneecap them, or at least to shoot in his general direction. Every possible lead is glossed over because he's busy answering phonecalls in a womany trembling voice. And every fraking time he is by some miracle (aka the scriptwriter's will) on the verge of something interesting his idiocy manages to mock it up.
All in all, the guy is such a colossal twit it is only by the grace of the seven gods that anything at all happens to him. In the real world a talentless hack like that would be pushing papers in the evidence lockup and be grateful for to opportunity.

SO basically I wanted to ask if there is any chance at all of this getting better in the coming seasons. I am all for the moral highground the character is supposed to portray, and I doubt that part will get removed, but is he about to get his **** together or will he remain a fish flailing about at the current's whim?

TL;DR: Will Mulder grow balls after season 2 ep. 9 or will he remain a powerless imbecile?

Thanks a lot in advance to anyone taking the time to help me out!

If you are currently watching X Files season 2 and not like the tandem at this point, mainly Mulder, you will not like him more in the next seasons.
Maybe an advice, drop X Files in favor of Fringe, you may like it.

I think you have some seriously messed up ideas on how a Federal Agent should perform their duties.

Mulder tripping and line dancing along with seeing the Lone Gunmen was pretty entertaining. Good episode.

Cool poster!

Obviously Mulder tripping was hilarious (funny how all things in his trip were related to something he saw or heard prior to taking the mushoorm), but I have to say Babylon had a lot of depth in the themes it was portraying. I didnt get the episode at first so I had to rewatch and it made a whole lot of sense. Its all about communication and how it relates to love and hatred. The moment Miller hangs the card to Scully you can hear a hint of Beethovens "Letter for Elise" (Elise is a term for sweetheart) and the episode ends with the lumineers song ("youre my sweetheart"). Its well crafted and has a lot of thought processing.

The line about Twin Paradox when all four aer standing looking alike is kind of funny. Miller is a likeable character and will be a good ally. Einstein is a little over the top. Its clear they are going to be involved in the future so at least there is a likeable element to them even though I hope Einstein gets toned down a bit. They may be the actors that will help carry the show (I suspect Skinner and Reyes will as well) to alleviate Duchovny and Anderson from carrying the full work load if were talking about full seasons.

So far very very happy with the return of the show. The season finale (notice how they are calling this a season) I hope ends on a clifhanger. Fox needs to make this announcement soon and send the crew to film either now or in the fall. Guys like Spotnitz and Gilligan could likely stop by.

I don't want it to end on a cliffhanger. I hate cliffhangers. They can end the season without it being a series finale though. They certainly have the ratings to do another miniseries and though it isn't popular with everyone I like the idea of Miller and Einstein taking up the roles if they ever did a full regular series run in the future.

I wouldn't be against Einstein and Miller returning. Not at all. :) Einstein was a bit over the top, but I'd love her character to deflate and chill a little as more weirdness comes pouring in. I honestly would've loved if it was reversed. Einstein the dreamer and Miller the skeptic. Not sure if that would've worked, though.

Loved the cameo by the Lone Gunmen in the country dance club trip Mulder was having.

It's gonna be a cliffhanger, but will it be too much? I hope they round it off, at least.

I've been enjoying this new season so much. I'm not getting why people are hating on it. It's like, "Did you even like the first half of seasons from the show?" It's pretty spot-on.

One more episode.
