The XBOX 360 Controller

I downloaded & installed the software just fine & then I plugged in the USB of the Plug & Play Charge Kit & the PC read it just fine & it installed the driver & it even shows up in the Device Manager. But the Game Controllers window in Control Panel is not reading the control ? I plug in the USB the Green Light on the kit on the 360 controllers lights up just fine. Am I doing something wrong ?

Whenever I'd plug in a 360 controller on my computer, the game would work find but the sound would be off.
