I just got finished watching Thelma & Louise for the first time, and I always knew it was supposed to be a great movie, but I was surprised by just how great it was. The acting, the writing, the pacing, the music, the directing and everything else in the film clicks on all levels. The chemistry between Sarandon and Davis easily make them the finest female duo in all of cinema (if not the finest in general), and the ending is still one of the best ever. Just beautiful.

Anyone else love it? And is it weird that I'm a guy and I love it?

Don't get good films like T&L much these days. I'm sure you're not the only guy who likes it.

I'm glad. It's sort of an anti-chick flick. It's somewhat inspirational in a sense.

When you stack it up against Ridley Scott's masterpieces, Blade Runner and Alien, it isn't quite as impressive.

Thelmas & Louise is a brilliant film because you can look at it in two ways:

a guy film disguised as a chick flick
a chick flick disguised as a guy movie

I think its the only movie to pull that off. And, don't say When Harry Met Sally. That movie isn't a chick flick. Its a really good romantic comedy. Every romantic comedy doesn't have to be a chick flick. Saying that is like saying that every action movie is a guy movie.

Agreed. Good analogy there. :up::up:

I disagree. I haven't seen Blade Runner, but Alien is one of my favorite movies. I personally think Thelma & Louise holds its own quite well. On the surface, it seems thin, but Scott made real, believable characters out of what could've just been cliched 2-D Bonnie & Clyde / Butch Cassidy & The Sundance Kid rip-offs. He gave them depth. The plot of the film may seem groudnbreaking, but frankly, neither does Alien's at first. It's the way the stories plays out on film that make them great.

You've not see Blade Runner? Well by all means, GO NOW!

My prob with Scott is that Alien was so remarkable, and Blade Runner so amazing, he was on his way to becoming the greatest director ever, and he followed it up with Legend. And then Black Rain. 1492? White Squall? GI JANE??? Where none of those are particularly bad, none of them even come close to the cinematic level of Alien and Blade Runner. Thelma and Louise is just kind of so-so.

And, I wasn't replying to you Warhammer. I was replying to Feltersnatch.

Ridley Scott since come back since that black period, with movies like Gladiator, Kingdom Come Director's Cut(Amazing!), and Matchstick Men these were awesome. Anyway he should probably wait till later this year when they release the real definate Director's cut of Blade Runner.
