'You Know My Name' music video to be filmed in LA, October 10th

Singer-songwriter Chris Cornell will film a video for his solo song "You Know My Name" on October 10-11 in the Los Angeles area. No further details are currently available.

Written and performed by the Audioslave vocalist, "You Know My Name" is the theme song for the new James Bond movie "Casino Royale" - reports Blabbermouth.

"Casino Royale", which opens on November 16 in the UK and November 17 in the USA, will introduce Daniel Craig as the sixth actor to play the British agent.

Cornell recently said that he's thrilled to join a a list of performers that includes legends like Tom Jones as well as questionable choices such as A-HA who have penned songs for James Bond films. "Paul McCartney's in there, Tom Jones is in there, which I'm — people might not know this, but I'm a huge Tom Jones fan. I think he's amazing singer," he said. "I had never heard his version of 'Thunderball' until recently. I'm sure I did when I was a kid, but it was 1965 so I was one. But it's great, you know, it's great being part of something like that, historically."

The theme that's great is that new Bond theme that plays near the end of the final trailer when Bond is trying to stop the plane from being destroyed.

I need to find out who did that.

Before people start judging what is Bondian and what isn't, it's better if they know the history of the franchise, right? A Batman fan would take unkindly if somebody who had no history with the character started dictating how things should be, right?

But don't get me wrong - I'm not trying to be antagonistic or hold anything against you in your lack of knowledge. But, for your own benefit, I do suggest getting acquainted with some of the past Bond music though, since some truly terrific stuff has been turned out. For purposes of comparison to "You Know My Name" I'd suggest checking out Paul McCartney's "Live and Let Die" - not only is it one of the best Bond songs ever (as well as one of the Bond franchise's biggest hits), but it's also not very "Bondian" in nature. Neither is the megahit Bond song "Nobody Does It Better."


Well, I do try to stay positive, but I do genuinely enjoy the song, and do really appreciate it's upbeat nature as well as its desire to do something new. The point of CASINO ROYALE is to do some new things, after all - why just go for another "Goldfinger" retread for the title song?


Oh yeah. Even if I hated the title song (as I did with DIE ANOTHER DAY), I'd still say this movie is shaping up wonderfully (which is unlike DIE ANOTHER DAY).


Oh, it would be good, to be sure - just very cliched and predictable. There'd be nothing fresh or really surprising about it.

I get what you're trying to say, and I even agree--hell, I'm looking forward to the movie and enjoying just about everything I've heard from it, aforementioned song excluded--but to me, this song doesn't fit with this dark, gritty Bond either.

Seriously, if I heard it first on a radio, I would have been more thought it from a cheesy Martian Lawrence action-comedy, let alone a dark, gritty action-thriller, let alone a James Bond film. It's just so poppy, to me.

The sad part is, I KNOW that Chris Cornell can do a dark, gritty song--the man wrote "Like a Stone," for Christ's sake--so how can it go so bad like this?

I mean, there have been worse songs sure, but this is not the best either, nor is it the best Cornell could come up with.

That version is a bit better, at least it has a little more instrements than the standard rock song, but I just feel it doesn't fit with Bond--the classic or the new interpetation.
