Anyone here interested or involved in acting/performing arts etc.?

"hyuck hyuck, thespians sounds like lesbians". Had to get that inevitable and always annoying joke out of the way

I've always been interested in acting. Not so much on a stage but movies and TV and what not. In another life, I totally would have done the "move out to Cali and audition while waiting tables to make rent" thing. But instead, I went the "save the world from disease" route. No regrets though. :D

I acted when I was a lot younger. I'd love to be an actor and I think I'd be good at it, but seriously... It's totally impractical.

I did a few shows in High School and college. I am more of a musical kind of guy that actual straight up plays but I would like to do one at some point. I have not been to an audition in ages. I do love being on stage and everything that comes with it though.

I was in a commercial the other day... kind of. But other than that, no, I have no acting ambition.

my people! I'm a senior in highschool and i was elected as historian of thespian troupe #132. It's really a shame that people have stereotypes for those who do theater, but for us on the inside, its a second family that only we can understand. i'm actually going into a theater major for college too. i'm more of an actor than a singer though. i'd really like to do film and tv.

Well said :applaud

Hell yes! Musical theatre student right here. Performing is my passion in life.

Yep, that is a big problem indeed. I was lucky enough to be offered a 3 year placement at a theatre but once that is over I have no idea what I will do with my life lol.

Well, my sister said she experimented some in college with it, but turns out she preferred to be a director.

I would take it. Worst case scenario is you have to do something else later. Best case scenario you get to play Ant-Man in the Ant-Man movie due out in 2014.

Hell yeah!

Actually Kenneth Branagh is affiliated with this theatre so I may have more chance of being in Thor :oldrazz:

Surprisingly, everyone acted in High School - including the "popular" kids. I guess we were an artsy school. So, yeah, during my High School years I acted. I never had a desire to, though, until I was cast in a show after I was forced to audition my Freshman year.

I love theatre. Acted quite a bit in college, and have since done some community theatre, including a few semi professional level things. I can't imagine wanting to do it for a living, though. Two weekends with a character and I've done what I wanted with them.

Now, though, partially because of my schedule, and partially because of my other pursuits, I'll only do something that really, really speaks to me, or something I can really immerse myself in. I'm like a non professional Daniel Day Lewis.

I did a few plays in middle school, but mainly did backstage tech work throughout high school. During my senior year, I finally auditioned for Little Shop of Horrors, and landed the role of the Voice Not Unlike That Of God who narrates the beginning, ensemble singing, and puppeteering for the plant. It was fun. I never tried acting again, but I'd be all for it in the future.

Our Drama Club also had a school hoodie. The front had our school logo, and the back said (in big bold letters) "THESPIANS DO IT LIVE!"

I love acting, but I don't know if I'd actually pursue it as a career because it's so competitive.

I like acting on a stage, but now I'm doing most of it in front of a camera. Though now my work focuses mostly on behind the camera work.

Still stage-acting, and hoping to get in front of a camera soon. Been doing it professionally for a short time now.

Best job ever, I think. I really want to make it a career.

Whoa. Sorry to bump such an old thread.
I used to act in plays at school all the time. Acting is a lot of fun, but literature stole my heart! I probably wouldn't act for a living. I love art, but am not willing to be starving for it. No offense. :o

Here is one of the aforementioned music videos and my favorite...it's been on MTV2 quite a few times...I'm the guy in the narrative portions bleeding and dying...

My biggest role in a play was dressing up as Alvin the Chipmunk and waving to the crowd in 4th grade.

I've never acted in front of a camera, but I have a feeling it won't compare to being on stage.

Having the audience right under your nose is one hell of an experience.
