Thieves steal Supermans mark in Cleveland

Could Lex Luthor be roaming the streets of Cleveland? Who else would steal a piece of Superman's past?
Indeed, someone out there walks the streets with more than a guilty conscience.
Thieves purloined an Ohio historical marker honoring Superman creators Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster earlier this month, according to the Plain Dealer. (Sorry, I don't have a photo of the marker, but the newspaper does. Just follow this link to see it.)
"Thieves, perhaps believing the aluminum plaque was bronze because of its coloring, used a hacksaw to cut the large plaque off the pole," reports the newspaper.
The plaque notes that Siegel and Shuster "infused popular American culture with one of the most enduring icons of the 20th century."
It was installed along St. Clair Avenue near East 105th Street, near the Kimberly Avenue home where the original comics were written and drawn.
Tracey Kirksey, executive director of the Glenville Development Corp., tells the newspaper that the plaque will be replaced. This time, however, Siegel's name, which is misspelled on one side of the plaque, will be spelled correctly.
At least there's some justice here.
