Let's review:
-Their last 4 movies (2 of them third installments in previously successful franchises) were given worse overall reception than "Ishtar". In some circles they got worse reception than "Catwoman".
-We now find pretty much all our hopes pinned to yet another third installment.
-Their latest TV series has just been cancelled. Which, technically, makes 2 consecutive series (counting Spider-Man animated) to fail to get renewed for a second season.
-A known drug addict & overall mediocre actor has been hired to play Iron Man.(I'm gonna try to reserve judgment on this one.)
-Buzz surrounding most of their upcoming projects is not good.
-They have a so-so cartoon on a network affiliated w/their rival company.
-AND many of their top comics are going to $h!t as well.
Did I miss anything?

Can you clarify on this one more? What circles would rate any comic book based movie lower than Catwoman???

These boards, mostly. The lambasting that FF & X3 got was worse than any received by CINO.

And many put Elektra & Catwoman in the same category.

I understand now. And although X3 didn't live up to X-Men or X2 it doesn't deserve the crap it got from the net nerds. FF could have been better, but I enjoyed it.

I think that Downey Jr playing Iron Man its actually a good idea.
It's way better then the plans that Tom" The Couch Jumper" Cruise would play the role.

That's your defense, O? Better a crackhead than an oddball pseudo-religious zealot?

You're going to condemn him for that? Anyway, he's playing Tony Stark, himself a know alcoholic.

Yeah...Marvel's two most succesful franchises are nearly over. X3 is the last X-Men movie, although there will be spin-offs, and while there is every chance of a Spider-Man 4, we all know that every franchise goes downhill after two or three movies.

When he keeps going back to his old ways no matter how many chances he's given to clean up his act, yes. When there's no telling if he'll be able to stay clean long enough to finish the film, yes. When his acting is so-so on top of this, yes. When I saw him play a character who died from drug use & he apparently learned nothing from it, hell yes.

I think Downey's life perfectly mirrors that of Tony Stark (substance abuse, money, glamour, onscreen persona and real life identity) and thus will make the movie all the more immersive.

My adolescant years sucked but that doesn't mean I should play Spider-Man.

thats cause you have a face for radio ;)

Wouldntve been my choice for Tony Stark, but hey lets give him a shot. No one thought Hugh Jackman was a good choice for Wolverine either...By the way what does CINO stand for?

I never doubted Hugh myself.

But see-that just proves my point. If you're a Marvel fan, you've spent the last two years either in a state of perpetual disgust & disappointment, or defending the recent films against the perpetually disgusted & disappointed.

Downey is a so-so actor. Is that why he won the best actor oscar for Chaplin?
Only a few people on these boards compared X3 and FF to CINO and they were dismissed as idiots by other poster.

Wasn't X3 the most successful of the X movies and FF was good enough to warrant a sequel.

Fixed.
There is no correlation between a movie's box office gross and its overall quality.

So? Many actors are,
Its what happens to many hollywood actors who have tons of money and don't know what to do with it..... sad, but it isn't a huge factor when looking for an actor
