I don't get why Marvel didn't schedule the film for two weeks before its current release date, the weekend of October 20th.

Virtually competition-free and doesn't have to worry about Justice League at all.

I agree and I will never understand this Playco, it seems so simple bro.

The second weekend hold will be better than usual because of Veteran's Day. This will also result in a bigger drop on the weekend after that.

‘Thor: Ragnarok’ Thunders Past $500M At Worldwide Box Office

As he heads into his third offshore and second domestic weekend, the god of thunder has hammered out a mighty $502.3M at the worldwide box office through Wednesday. Disney/Marvel’s Thor: Ragnarok now becomes the 12th consecutive Marvel Cinematic Universe film to reach the threshold, and the 14th to do so out of 17 films total.

The breakdown for the son of Odin is currently $147.9M domestic and $354.4M at the international box office. Those totals are coming off of a Wednesday that was worth $20.8M globally, for 8% of last weekend’s haul.

The Taika Waititi-helmed refresh on the series has been playing above comps Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 2 and Doctor Strange in offshore markets and through last weekend was muscular in its holds, pointing to an ultimate finish upwards of $500M overseas. Thor 3 is on track to add another $60M in its domestic sophomore weekend.

The Top 5 offshore markets on Ragnarok through Wednesday are: China ($69.8M), the UK ($29.4M), Korea ($27.1M), Brazil ($20.8M) and Australia ($17.4M). France, Mexico, Indonesia, Russia and Germany round out the Top 10.

So that means the early Wednesday number is $6.1M, which would be a 43.6% drop from Tuesday. That's quite a lot bigger than usual, but it also increased more than usual yesterday, so this just puts it back in the normal range.

Already passed 500M WW! That's sweet.
It should also cross that 600M mark by Sunday. :yay:

So how much will it make when it’s all said and done? That is the real question...

Doctor Strange by the end of it's 2nd weekend had approximately $493M on it's way to $677M.

If Thor follows the same amount of drops and if it passes $600M by the the end of this weekend, it could reach $822M.

It's definitely passing $600M this weekend, that much is certain. The question is by how much.

I wonder if it can pass GotG 2's total gross of $863M, I guess it all depends on the legs.

Deadline
Both Daddy’s Home 2 and Murder on the Orient Express will fall in line behind Disney/Marvel’s Thor: Ragnarok who will continue to lord over the box office in his second weekend with an estimated $60M. Last night Ragnarok made a robust $7M, +15% from Wednesday for a first week’s haul of $155M. Crossing the two century mark is definitely part of Ragnarok‘s weekend destiny.

$7,024,207 on Wednesday. 14.2% increase thanks to Veteran's Day being observed this Friday, which will help the 2nd weekend number as well. Domestic total is up to $154,989,707 after 7 days.

And it would be great if deadline's weekend projection holds up, but it's still too early for accurate estimates so it's probably best to take this with a grain of salt for now:

‘Thor’ Still Raging With $61M-$63M; ‘Murder On The Orient Express’ Stabs $24M; ‘Daddy’s Home 2’ $21M – Midday B.O.

2nd update, Friday midday: Currently, per matinee estimates, everything is looking rosy, so let’s hope this doesn’t fall apart.

Disney/Marvel’s Thor: Ragnarok is coming in ahead of its $60M projected second weekend with $61.5M-$63M, -49% from last weekend and will beat both of its previous installments’ final cumes at the domestic B.O. (Thor at $181M and Thor: Dark World at $206.4M) with a running total by Sunday of $218M. Ragnarok‘s second Friday is looking like $21M.

Given the front-loaded trend of the past few MCU flicks, I'd also be conservative with my number.

I'll say $57-$58m and hope that "Daddy's Home 2" and MOTOE both underperform. I seriously can't see why there would be demand for a second Daddy's Home movie or a remake that seemed to come out of nowhere (at least on my radar, apparently it did decent Thursday night business).

Just hoping that Ragnarok can pass $300m and possibly $800m. I'm no numbers expert so I'm just watching as the dailies come in.

I hope it overperforms in it's 2nd weekend. I'll be seeing it again tonight at the last showing. My theater is already selling out showings for laters showings 6-9 pm.

60M for the second weekend would be a pretty awesome hold. That would be great news.

;nd I think the 800 Million mark is a given at this point, its just a question of whether it finishes in the upper or lower part of that number...

BO update...November 9, 2017...

TIH $134,806,913 / $263,427,551

T:dw $206,362,140 / $644,571,402
T:R $154,989,707 / $509,389,707
