Thor's Action scenes

Weel, now that you mentioned, here's what Thor's official profile says:

Thor can steer Mjolnir’s path via his mental control over Mjolnir while traveling and can “hover” in place by spinning Mjolnir in his hand. While throwing Mjolnir when “hovering,” Thor can use winds to keep himself afloat allowing him to appear to be in flight

There are sooooo many ways they can explain & execute Thor being able to fly. There's no excuse for there not to be a decent amount of flight in "Thor". I'm gonna see it regardless, but still it is a large part of who Thor is.

Im just a bit worried because if their were flying in this movie you would think thay would talk about it more. They've already explainied how they the executed the flying scenes in Green Lantern, Favreau did same thing with Iron Man.

It's actually more important for me to see Thor fly in Avengers than his own movie. He contributes a lot more to the team as a flyer, since the only other Avenger who can match his strength--the Hulk--is far more limited by not being able to fly.

Was thinking - in the absense of Mjolnir being Thor's way of soaring through the skies, is it not plausible for Thor to use the wind, much like Storm does?
It'd probably take a lot of wind. Storm's what, like, 120 lbs. at most? Thor's somewhere around 600 lbs. because Asgardians' bodies are denser than humans'. He'd probably be riding around on an upside-down tornado, causing property damage everywhere he goes.

"Hurray, it's Thor, we're saved! ... Wait, he's riding a tornado. We're f***ed!" :wow:

I'd like it if Thor used the warrior's madness to defeat the Destroyer since it's suppose to be pretty hard to overcome.

I agree that if Thor does ALL he can do on this movie, The Avengers one wouldnt give us anything new.

But at the same time, I hope this origin movie shows the big things he can do with his hammer.

The last shot of the teaser was quite impressive, but Id love to see bigger things than that yet. Specially, I cant wait to see some great shoots of him flying, not just a 2 seconds shoot and quickly move to the fight on earth.

I hope Marvel's plan is to surprise audience even more with the final trailer.

Im glad we havent seen Thor fighting with the Destroyer yet, that creates some mistery/anticipation, and I like that.

Seconded.That would rock!

I agree, I posted something like that on The Destroyer thread. I said "I want to see Thor defeat The Destroyer on his own by releasing a huge storm or going into warriors madness".

I hate when superhero movies use "plot devices" to win the final battle (ie. Iron Man & Transformers).

I understand you completely, but they HAVE to include flight, super strength, lightning bolts, durability, & tornado creating in "Thor". They can save the portal opening, god blast, energy absorbtion, & force fields for "The Avengers".

Yeah, but we need to have in mind that the Destroyer is something than Odin himself wouldn't want to face,so Thor may need some extra help...

True, but Odin can defeat The Destroyer & Thor has done it on his own atleath once or twice.

Wasn't the idea that Thor used Mjolnir to actually fly (spinning to hover, throw to fly, etc) more from old school comics? I thought he just had the ability to fly, or possibly channeled the ability through Mjolnir, in modern comics. Can anyone clarify?

No matter what ... I do want to see Thor fly in the movie.

my prediction, is that the hammer will glow when he flies..implying that it is the reason, but not something as dramatic as spinning and throwing.

Pretty much always by reuniting the soul animating the Destroyer with its body, though. The only ones who've really beaten the Destroyer are the Celestials. Everyone else tends to distract it or stay a couple steps ahead of it until they can find some way to disable it via the soul somehow.

Personally, I hope we get to see a god blast. Even after regaining his powers, Thor shouldn't be much of a match for the Destroyer. I could see him getting the other Asgardians to slow it down while he gathers his power, then unleashing a massive god blast at the Destroyer.

Then again, I'm much more a fan of the god blast than I am of warrior madness, so I'm biased. :)

Agreed, I also hope he fights while hovering at some point in the movie as well.

I don't know........if you mean hand to hand knock down kind of stuff I prefer that on solid ground.

I am fully expecting the fight with the Destroyer to be the moment that Thor regains his "worthiness", perhaps Thor is willing to selflessly die in battle for "earth"(quotations meant to imply his tone when he says "This is earth, isn't it."), and he's damn close to doing that when the hammer comes to life, so to speak, and rockets to Thor's hand!

yes, they can keep some things for the avengers, but the general audience has to know that Thor can do MANY things, so in the Avengers they wont be like: :whatever: "since when he could do this? or that?..."

I think the audience should know well the powers of Thor, so they will accept whatever he does with the whole team.

I hope to be impressed on the theatre when I see the Thor action scenes... cant wait to be like :wow: :wow: :wow:
For me, Thor is the biggest character in term of visual stuff and action, so I hope to not be dissapointed.

I hope Marvel does him justice.

I would love to see Thor do either of these - a "god blast", huge storm, or warrior's madness. They all showcase how powerful he is, although im excited to see a "god blast" & warrior's madness than a huge storm.

I meant I'd like to see Thor fighting on the ground & in mid-air. I say that because I have yet to see a superhero movie have an epic fight scene on ground & in mid-air.

@Angamb - He has a larger variety of powers than the rest of The Avengers, most of them should be introduced in "Thor". The audience should know what his capabilities in "The Avengers"...I hope they don't tone him down too much

I agree. The storms and lightning should be a given for Thor, not a really special, fight-ending move. Hell, I'd love to see storm clouds start gathering whenever Thor gets angry or does anything, really. I'd love that subtle hint that the storms are a natural extension of him rather than something he only dials up when he needs them.

thats what Im afraid of :csad:

although the last scene of the teaser gave me hope.

I second that statement, I would love for them make the "Thunder God" aspect of Thor a constant theme. I would love to see storm clouds and random flashes of lightning throughout his fight with The Destroyer.

I would love to see that too actually. Kind of a forewarning like, "You're ticking me off!"
