I know it's late but I finally saw this movie. It had a wide range of bad reviews, and I still have such traumatic memories from Michael Bay's "Pearl Harbor" so I decided to skip this one. :D After watching it, I have mixed feelings on it.

Before they escaped the laboratory, I thought this was a five star movie. It had a "THX 1138" feel to it. Very cool sci-fi theme.

The movie started going downhill with the huge (what felt like two hours) chase scene. I like sci-fi action flicks, and wish more people would make Ahney-esque movies like "Running Man" and "Total Recall" but this was over the top. The storyline was doing well, I didn't think they had to add a $50 million chase scene to keep the audience captivated.

I'm not much of a Michael Bay fan, but it does seem like reviewers have a double standard when they give this movie a lot of bad reviews (40% at Rotten Tomatoes) but a film like "Minority Report" mostly glowing reviews. (90%+ at Rotten Tomatoes) This movie was very similar to "Minority Report." Lighting and camera, pessimistic futuristic views on human nature, huge chase scenes......

You can trash this film for ripping off "Logan's Run" but I think too many people are on the "dog Michael Bay bandwagon." It has some cheese over the top moments like the "my name is Lincoln" scene but I had the same feeling after watching this that I did "Minority Report." Both were fun experiences, good movies, but not classics. I'll take my sci-fi anyway I can get it. :)

I liked it. I thought how they survived falling with that giant logo or whatever it was was a bit stupid though and towards the end it did start to feel like it had gone on a bit too long but other than that I thought it was a good sci-fi film with some good bits of action. I like Michael Bay.. I liked Pearl Harbor and Armageddon.. I still need to check out The Rock, which people say is his best though.

I thought it was ok, nothing special.

Michael Bay sucks...he's the worst director in the world but yet they keep giving him money to make all these high budget movies...yes I'm willing to bet that the Transformers will suck.

The first hour was very good and i liked Scarlett and Ewan's performances.when they get out and meet Buschemi is great and so is the first car chase but i think Bay struggles to wrap it up satifyingly...not nearly in Minority Report's league IMO

I liked the film, I own it.

Michael Bay is a good Director! I can't wait to see Transformers!

Its a mash of several different sci-fi films but none the less I thought it was fun, hardly what I would call original though. The visuals and action are fantastic as well as the performances from all the key players. It didnt deserve to fail at the b.o. like it did.

Mediocre movie. Although I would probably say that it is his second best film. The first is the Rock. He's a terrible director. I mean, come on, a puppet movie dedicated an entire song to how much he sucks!

I thought that movie was the perfect summer movie in a long time. One of my favorites from last year....and way better than anything this summer too. Awesome action, funny, and pop corn fun. The movie looked like it cost three times the budget of Superman returns...which is supposedly the most expensive movie made.

Personally.....I think Bay on Transformers will be perfect. The dude knows how to direct great scenes with fast cars and can do epic scenes with a tight budget.

I love the Badboy movies...and the Rock...Island isn't my favorite of his though....but I think it's way better than Pearl Harbor or Armagedden. And really... the dude directed the ROCK!!!!! That movie is a classic. I don't see why the constant hate for the guy.

Maybe it's cause of Pearl Harbor...but the dude had a hard time with that movie...he almost quit like a couple of times during it. There's no denying the guy can't direct a awesome action scene. His emotional scenes are only as good has his actors. And since PH had Affleck and Harnett....there wasn't much to work with.

But the Island was awesome. Ewan was funny as hell in the role. Fish out of water. Loved how his clone was a prick.

it can't touch "The Rock"..that movie is a fckin classic as Lord Blackbolt just stated

you must not watch too many movies if you think that he's the 'worst director in the world'

either that, or you like hopping on bandwagons.

bay's closest thing to a 'bad movie' was pearl harbor, and even that wasn't a terrible movie at all.

well considering it was one of the biggest flops of 2005. if not the biggest of 2005.it cost about 120mill to make and only made 12 million opening week. and made about 40 mill or so domestic.

i saw it. it was a alright movie.

and to the people complaning about bay not letting scarlett go topless.

it's not like that would change the movie. it'd just be a movie with un needed nudity in it and people who complain just wanted to see t*ts.

and the island was a great movie... hardly a classic, but a great movie none the less.

i like the 'fish out of water' element to it when they finally escape.

Stealth, It was so stupid!

I had the film explained to be a while beack and now it makes perfect sence... Itss Michael Bay making a "Post-Bay" film.

Its still crap, but it makes more sence now.

if I want to watch Logans Run, I'll either watch Logans Run or wait for Singers remake, I dont need to watch a crappy rip off of it :o

The main characters were a bunch of confirmed idiots. They couldn't save themselves from the inside of a wet paper bag.

You could say that they have the IQ of a bag of manure, but that would be insulting the poor manure.

Which shouldn't be that bad, except that this is supposed to be an action movie, where character should have more than one working brain cell.

Minority Report was a bore to watch. You take out the action sequences in the Island and you'll end up with the same borefest of a film MR was. I found the island quite entertaining. If it were made by David Fincher everyone *****ing about it would all of a sudden have glowing reviews.

I didn't like it very much at all. The action was generic, the visual design was meh, and it took a potentially interesting topic and flushed it down the toilet.
