Thread Manager Ordeal - Discussion

arggghhh... I just realized we CAN'T post quotes from threads that have been closed by Thread Manager!!!

friggin, fraggin, NONSENSE!!!!

Mods: Are the board administrators looking into a how to balance the heavy load on the servers, or is this a permanent solution?

The latest "Info Seekers" thread on the The Dark Knight Rises board only last 3 days. When production starts, there's literally going to be 3+ threads per day!

If and when the Dark Knight Rises viral campaign starts... Yikes! It will be mass chaos.

So, I was trolling through the boards trying to get an idea of the confusion Thread Manager has caused when I found this gem:

"EVERYTHING Black Panther [merged] - Part 1"

In other words, some Moderator or other merged all the different Black Panther threads and then Thread Manager comes along and separates them.

Two things:

1. Whenever an existing thread with a poll gets closed the new thread shows up but you can't vote in that poll anymore.

2. The new threads that don't have a poll won't give you an option to create a poll.

Can someone fix this?

Well, we couldn't quote threads closed by real mods anyway.
TM's basically a virtual Mod.

It's still lagging, no thanks to the Thread Manager.

They need to tidy this board up. There is subboard after subboard like a bloody underground network. And each subboard is clogged with hundreds of pointless or closed threads. The administrators need to clean out a lot of the threads and condense the forum down.

Those that are posting in the threads that you think are pointless, may not agree with you....but thanks for the suggestion.

That's for sure...

...but 'SkyNet' was meant to save us all.

You are asking the wrong people....we are not told anything.

Thread Manager caused all of the problems Japan & Hawaii has had recently. Thats a fact

i hear the threadbot sent a t-1000 back in time to start the holocaust and get reagan elected as president...true story.

What is going on? some posts are being shown and some posts are not.

And threads vanish off the face of the earth only to come back later. Plus it's not even updating when new posts are posted it seems.

While I dislike creating forks in the threads, as it creates disruption in the flow of the conversation, I must say that hype does move along smoothly. I remember it use to take up to five minutes to log in, or to view a thread. That is longer than it took me to view things back when I had a 33k baud modem and a Pentium S processor. The speed boost is appreciated.

Would be nice if this didn't come with a heap of glitches.

Coming in late with this as a returning poster having been away for.. a year or two...

It's probably been mentioned, but is there anyway to make the thread Manager more 'friendly'? I feel like I live in a militarized state (which I practically do in reality).

Could he have a nicer name.. like Thread Minimizer or something?

Could his ending and greeting posts be nicer, like:

"Hey ho! Created a new thread, hope you all like it! You can find it here!"

"Howdy! Welcome to the new thread! Looking for the hijinks of the old one? Here's a linkie!"

Maybe it could be changed up like every 6 months so he stays hip and fresh?

Other alternative's:

"You say goodbye [newlink]"

"I say hello [oldlink]"

----

"Well this one was nice, here, have a new one [newlink]"

"Have fun screwing this one up! Like the one before [oldlink]"

we might approach an uncanny valley type situation if it started posting with a personality lol.
