Me to, I went through Hurricane Ike last Summer....it was wild. My dogs were great....I guess I stayed pretty calm, because they were cool through the entire storm. NOW, the "no electicity" afterwards sucked....

When we were kids and we got scared of a thunderstorm, my parents used to say to us "That's just God moving his furniture about".
It works. I recommend it to any poster's whose kids get scared around them.

I like thunderstorms when there not busy destroying my items. I lost 3 TVs a couple N64's from back in the day and every other day my street gets hit by lightning as if Thor was standing outside or something. I now realize how useless surge protecters are and now just unplug my stuff when I hear that first rumble in the distance. Other then that there great to listen an relax to

I whole-heartedly agree. But you see, I live in a northwest suburb of Chicago. If we do get a strong storm/tornado, it is usually at night, which then means no visibility which is scarrrrrrrry.

I understand, that was my fear with Ike last Summer.....the storm didn't really get going until about 6:00 p.m....so the eye was coming through in the middle of the night....thunder and lightning in a hurricane means tornadoes...when that started happening I spent most of my time on my balcony with ears open.

Tornadoes in hurricanes come in lower than in average super cells, therefore radar doesn't pick them up. In a hurricane you are on your own when it comes to detecting tornadoes....that was a little scary....
