Just to clarify to those who never saw the play or have heard the original cast recording, the film was almost word for word identical to the play. Several songs were cut, as they didn't fit the tone of the film, as well as a few lyrical omissions, don so as to keep the transition from stage to film smooth. Some of the lyrics and songs were written only to ever work on stage, and would not have translated well on screen. But other than the cuts made, the film was practically word for word a direct adaptation. That, and they added a few things to keep things moving smoothly. This is easily the best adaptation of a stage musical ever put on film, and it was helped by the fact that it was an adaptation of the greatest musical ever put on stage by the greatest living composer in musical theatre.

t: Hope I helped. If anyone wants to know the specific cuts/changes, just PM me.
