Not so much in the play...^

This movie confirmed my desire to have Burton do another adaptation of Little Shop Of Horrors. This time with more blood and an R rating. :o
Eh, I don't think "Little Shop of Horrors" is dark enough for Burton. You know who would do a good job with that? Edgar Wright ("Shaun of the Dead", "Hot Fuzz")

And no crotch shading from Antony? Boo.:o:down
I'm pretty sure there was no crotch shading (is that what you call it? I thought it was called a bulge) because Anthony was played by a chick with a guy's voice.

Just curious

Anthony, and Johanna, kind of a cliffhanger there, aswell with Toby.
It's easy to tell what happened to Anthony and Johanna. They got a carraige and got the hell out of there. As for Toby, he probably just went back to work in a factory.

Just saw it, and wow. Amazing, my favourite musical to date. I didn't see the stage play or read the script along with some, but it was fantastic. Does anyone know where I can find the Johanna song for download? It was fantastic. I loved how all the songs blended together, but the ending was sad, a tearjerker at most.

With the cliffhangers,
that's how it is in the show. They're the survivors, but I'm pretty sure it's clear Antony and Johanna "live happily ever after."
As for the songs, I bought my bff the CD soundtrack(Not the special edition) at Best Buy for bout $15

In the show Anthony and Johanna have their happy ending. Toby goes insane and is found by the police with Sweeney, Lovitt, Beatle, and the Judges bodies.

I see.

And I found the Johanna song and all the others on youtube, I ripped the audio and got them all on my computer, so

so i have heard that burton may be working on an alice in wonderland interpretation ..that could be something to look forward to.

This movie was ****ing fantastic. It was like a roundhouse kick to the face. Depp was ****ing disturbing during the last act.

Two thumbs up :up::up:.

Agreed. The ending was especially brilliant, and the film's message was very powerful.

I do hope this movie finally gets Burton some Oscars respect (which I feel he was snubbed from a couple other times).

I loved it, i want to see it again!

only thing i was mad about was that they didn't have The Ballard of Sweeney Todd choirs.. it would have been perfect at the end, but oh well.

just saw the movie, wow incredible took me by suprise, all the actors did a great job singing especially depp, what a spectacular musical

Burton has talent man, the way he uses color in his movies, and the way he directs his actors is superb

Yeah, the ending didn't need to explain any more. No real cliffhanger there.

I wouldn't neccessarily say it is my favorite film musical to date, but certainly in the top 10 and the best musical in the last 5 years (which there are quite a few of, recently, musical renissance?).

I thought Depp was superb. I mean his voice is untrained, but unlike say Gerard Butler as the Phantom, this was a bonus. He was completely immersive and mezmorizing. Quite honestly, he nailed the character by giving him a rock and roll sound. Bonham Carter was very good as well, albeit her voice was lacking compared to say, Angela Lansbury on the original cast or the woman in the revival I saw in 2005, but she acted the part well enough and was ghostily beautiful and memorable as the macbre and ambiguious Mrs. Lovitz. The rest of the cast was superb, with Rickman, Cohen and the actor playing Toby nailing it. Johanna was actually likeable for a change, but Anthony was as annoying as ever, but at least he was well acted and still has the best song in the musical.

The musical itself is a masterpiece. The complexity of the story, the music being able to tell the story and its manipulation of the audience is all a tribute to Sondheim. While I still think the elimination of The Ballad of Sweeney Todd (just once, would be nice?) and the judge singing creepily Johanna, it was still a masterful adaptation and certainly the best film adaptation of a stage musical in probably the last 30 years (Chicago would be an arguable comparison). The movie flows perfectly and is engrossing and the end just leaves the audience to wallow in their own misery.

Definetly one of Burton's best and a triumph for everyone involved. 9/10.

P.S. I love people calling it Little Shop of Horrors redone, when the musical predates that film and show and the story is MUCH older.

I wouldn't have changed the ending for anything in the world... I love the ballad as much as anyone, but that final shot was the best possible way to end it.

I've never seen the original musical, so I was a bit shocked how DARK the movie started to become....Yikes. It's diffinitly the most dark musical movie I've ever seen. I'd even say distrubing at times. It could be Burton's darkest movie.

I'd say it is his darkest, but one of his most satisfying.

This tops the list as best bloody film(but I hate 95% of them), it worked, dare I say it, whimsically :o

Most definitely Burton's darkest tale to date.

Best movie I've seen in quite a while.

Best Burton movie since... erm... Ed Wood maybe...
