Tim Daly

also true, but I could annoyed when I read someone post about how ****ty she was when I know the chick that played Tina Grier was ten times worse.:down

also, ****ing hype lag!

Perhaps it's the "star power" behind her name.

Granted, far be it from me to call Tori Spelling a "star" in any sense of the word, but people know her name, for better or worse. They either expect her to be good (ha!) or they expect her to be terrible.

So when she shows up in Metropolis and starts sucking it up, people in Camp A are like, "Aw, Tori, I was hoping you'd make this episode great!" and the people in Camp B are like, "Aw hell, there goes Tori again, sucking it up like always!"

Meanwhile, the actress who played Tina Greir, however good or bad she may be, gets relatively little flak because she's "just" a relatively minor-guest spot (even though in reality, that's all Tori's role was).

It's the same thing with Paris Hilton. She's a "party girl." So are dozens upon dozens of girls in the United States. But since we're aware of Paris Hilton and this "star power" she has, we're for some reason interested when she makes a sex tape or dances naked on a table than we are when Sally Sue College Student does.

I probably put far too much thought into that argument for what I was actually saying...

But she's like a C-lister. We all know it. She knows it herself and has poked fun at that fact. It's not as if she's stolen good roles that should've gone to better actors(especially given Smallville's track record). Can't we all just move on?

It really isn't fair that she can show up on any show like a dozen other mediocre actors do and take heat for being average just because her name is famous(and yes I'm aware that's how she even managed to get a career in the first place, but that doesn't matter anymore). So she's lame? Whatever. Talent-wise, she's about equal with every other lame guest star so I don't see the point in holding her to a different standard. However, if people feel she was especially horrible(though I don't agree), they're free to express that, but you know, not be hypocritical about it.

But, yeah. I like Tim Daly. Never cared much for George whatshisface as Supes.

I completely agree. To use my prior example, what's so spectacular about Paris Hilton? Nothing but her name. Nothing at all. So why won't people shut the hell up about her?

Georgey got better as time went on, I thought. I've always kind of preferred Tim Daly, though - simply for the fact that I'm sort of morally opposed to recasts whenever possible. :o

Wasnt he one of the guys that was almost Pa Kent on the show? I could've sworn that was him,

Really?! That would have been cool. Well...either way I think Tim Daly should have a guest role. I think it'd be cool.

Everyone is talking about a Dean Cain guest role on Smallville, which would be fantastic! But what about Tim Daly who provided the voice of Clark Kent/Superman on the animated series?

That would be cool

I always thought that Tim Daly would have made an awesome Superman for the film (if they had made it in the 90s) When Smallville started, I thought it would be cool to have him play a future version of Clark who comes back in time from another dimension to help Clark defeat some otherworldly foe. John Byrne wrote a story like that with Superboy coming to the newly modified Superman's universe...always liked that story and thought that it would be cool to see Superman in Smallville.

Rage

Tim Daly was also on The Fugitive remake a few years ago, he's a damn solid actor and would be cool to have on the show. He'd be good as an Uncle to Clark or something like that.

i still want cain as jor-el but either of the other actors would make a fine zor-el indeed

I think Terence Stamp would be sticking as Jor-El. But, anything is possible.

you never know- i didn't like what they did in relic at all so Cain as a younger jor-el would be fine with me

So, how will they explain Jor-El going from a British accent to, well, Dean Cain.

they never really explained him *not* having an accent in Relic when he definitely does otherwise...

If they cast someone like Tim Daly or Dean Cain, I think it'd be a nice nod to their contributions to previous TV incarnations of the man of steel.

Tim Daly doesn't look as much as Tom as Dean does, but either could work if they wanted to do that.

Dean Cain doesn't look like Tom Welling.

I didn't say he did, what I meant was that he looks more like Tom than Tim Daly does, not that Cain looks like Tom...

If Dean Cain shows up, it should be in a role unrelated to that of Kal-El (some have suggested something to do with journalism, that sounds okay).

Please please please no Dean Cain as Jor-El.

That was me. I think Clark needs a journalistic hero!

Actually that would be good, I like Cain.

It would probably not really fly with him as Jor-El, I was just playing devil's advocate...

I wish Daly was available for Justice League. Even five season later, Tim's voice is how I imagine Supes, not George Newburns.
