Time for stricter gun legislation in the US yet??

Stricter laws on guns?

  • Hell yeah. We need a big ban covering alot of guns and how people get them

  • Not a ban. Just more legislation

  • Gun control isn't the problem

  • DON'T TAKE AWAY MY BIRTH RIGHT COMMIE!!

No no, I thought we were getting somewhere. And we haven't insulted each other like 99% of the Hype seems to do when on this topic. :yay:

I'm just flustered responding to Kaine is all. Its like he left his computer on and a chimp got into his house and is responding to this topic.

Isn't psychosis something that tends to take hold over time? It's not something you're born with. Someone can buy a gun and get a license and then a few weeks later they start slipping into psychcosis.

You don't breathalise someone on their way into a bar do you?

I think its one of the things they look into when they do a background check to see if you check out to buy a gun.

Isn't that the job of gun laws we already have? To keep the guns out of the hands of the psychotic?

If they keep them out of the hands of 99% of the psychotics...then they are helping.

Do you think that because there is a law regulating guns, then there should be NO shootings? There are laws that say you are not supposed to steal, kill, tear up other people's property, drive while drunk, etc, etc, etc.......

You tell him Lee:up:

Psychos can act just as sane as you or me. Most of the time they're normal as a mofo, until they start running amok shooting folks.

I find it interesting that the two biggest proponents of mega gun control laws in the United States I've seen posting in this thread are a Canadian and an Irishman.

jag

:wow:

Great point jag...

The Irish and Candians want us to outlaw guns so they can invade and take over only using their leprecuan magic and maple syrup.

[slight humor] ;)

Every need for a gun could/should be settled with good old fashioned fisticuffs(save police taking out a threat from a distance):

1. Somebody tries to rob you? Throw down, don't shoot each other.

2. War should be fought like the old days...with swords.

3. Hunting? We're getting lazy. People had to wrestle their meals not too long ago. Anybody can shoot a deer, but if you can wrestle that sucker..then you deserve to eat it.

I always felt that guns were the easy way out when it came to weapons, but hey. Close range has always been the way to do it imo. If you want to challenge someone, getting right up in their face and seeing it in their eyes is the way to go. OK, that sounded a bit creepy. Nevah mind.

No, I agree. Guns have turned into this machismo thing when it's actually the ***** way to handle your probs.

yeah, but fists won't get the job done any quicker. if you want to kill or injure a good amount of people, guns is the way to go.

You just jumped in half way through the conversation without reading it all didn't you?

True. I'd be up for bringing backs swords...but sadly with the evolution of humanity came the upgraded weapons and the desire to avoid getting one's hands dirty :(

I'm not reading all this, but how is gun control not a problem?

Nope....I jumped in at the end of the conversation....followed someone else's quote to your post....quoted it....and gave an answer.:hyper: Nothing halfway about what I do.:oldrazz:

We've gone soft, brother :(

sadly, yes.

No one wants to work hard (at anything) anymore...everyone wants s**t given to them because they're "entitled" which is why guns and crazy stuff like Va Tech happens...people think life is too tough and so they take it out on others and themselves...soft indeed.:csad:

Plus, nowadays, no one would want to learn proper sword technique...it'd be too much work compared to pulling a trigger...:csad:

Hell enough people watch Star Wars or POTC.

But I was reading instead of installing metal detectors at schools which would alert people that someone has a gun, it was decided that counselling potential shooters, would be better at solving the problem while the detectors would make people feel more isolated. Counselling isn't a bad idea but to reject metal detectors because it might effect the feelings of people - well too bad.
Just one more layer of babying that society doesn't need.

The whole culture or school environment needs a shakeup. Nobody has the motivation to do or say anything until its too late. Installing metal detectors may lead to some other kind of violence, like pen stabbing but you aren't going to kill 20 people with a Bic pen.

In a rural school where I live these two bullies were punished by wearing hockey helmets that said "I am a loser", "I am stupid" and the whole school laughed at them. What would happen if the next week they come to school and shoot up some classmates and teachers? Or just even one death? Yes they might learn a lesson but it just might make them snap.

If you had read the whole thread you would have realized that I've been saying the same thing you did, and I was being sarcastic in that comment. :o

i find is disturbing that anyone could possibly think that the answer to gun violence is more guns. if that seems to be the best solution, then theres a much great social problem going on than the guns themselves. the idea that we would need to live in a heavily and readily armed society to be safe is extremely sad and warrants us to take a look at whats wrong with society itself.

Counselling has never solved anything. I did the whole counseling thing. All I learned was a bunch of buzz words, buzz phrases, and other assorted nonsense.

So what is the solution? Prescription meds or metal detectors? Tom Cruise will go even more crazy...
