Time for stricter gun legislation in the US yet??

Stricter laws on guns?

  • Hell yeah. We need a big ban covering alot of guns and how people get them

  • Not a ban. Just more legislation

  • Gun control isn't the problem

  • DON'T TAKE AWAY MY BIRTH RIGHT COMMIE!!

So what is the solution? Prescription meds or metal detectors? Tom Cruise will go even more crazy...

How about enforcing existing laws? The NRA suggested this. If someone shows a gun, the perps time doubles. If, the perp uses a gun, their time triples. Simple soultion.

Who shows guns off?
This shooter never showed a gun. He kept to himself and stalked women.
If you just obtain the gun(s) and don't use them until you go on a rampage - very good chance you will kill yourself or the police will. He's doing no time.

Ok, you all love your guns we get it

Let me put it another way

What is the downside to banning guns?

Are gun deaths going to increase because you ban guns?

It amazes me that america is so surprised by it's reputation within the international community when people still take the stance of

"Ah need ma guns to protectify ma homestead"

:whatever:

No they're going to decrease, just like they've been decreasing in the past 10 years anyways. Americas alot safer then people give it credit for.

why would anyone want to pun the power of life and death in the hands of people

Are you a goldfish? Or is your mind run by a mouse in a wheel?

Seriously, you keep using the same retarted arguments again and again and again.

And yet all you've done is insult him for his argument rather than provide a viable intellectual debate against it.

A car is just as dangerous a weapon as a gun. I don't have statistics to back it up, but I'm willing to bet far more people die in automobile accidents in the U.S. every year than they do from being shot.

Thats probably because you fail to grasp the simple concept that people are far more lethal behind a car then behind a gun. :whatever:

About 30,000 more people in the US die from car accidents then from guns, and about 4,000 more people die of falling.

LOGIC:

While more people are Killed in all ways thru the USE of cars,.... Cars are not "designed" to damage other living creatures.

Guns are,... period.

Serious Apples and Oranges to bring a vehicle that transports more than it kills.
A better choice would be Knives.

V.

also your average person spends significantly more time behind the wheel than they do with a gun in their hand. Simple law of averages that car accidents will outnumber gun accidents

this is why women drivers get cheaper insurance.

Just because it wasn't intended to perform killing doesn't change the fact that it does. An axe isn't made with intention to kill behind it but I'm pretty sure people do get killed by axes.

But a gun's SOLE PURPOSE is to kill

Axes are tolerated as they are important tools

you're clutching at straws in order to defend your illogical obsession with "security"

can you chop wood with your gun?

Well any tool can be used to kill, from an air plane to shovel to plate.

Do you know how much the accident rate by guns and car accidents is?

Its about 43,354 to 776 in favor of cars and I'm pretty sure guns are handled alot more often then you think.

A gun doesn't need to kill to preform its purpose.

What I'm getting from this whole conversation is that you guys want to be safer, right? Then why not get rid of all the other things that cause accidental deaths way more often then guns? Like stairs, pools, cars, and any food with a consistency thicker then apple sauce.

Oh Yeah!
It's my birthday!
got accepted
at UW richland!
going to college!

but its sole purpose is not the death of a human.

A fish pole is meant to kill, rat traps are meant to kill, bug spray is meant to kill, etc.

i find is disturbing that anyone could possibly think that the answer to gun violence is more guns. if that seems to be the best solution, then theres a much great social problem going on than the guns themselves. the idea that we would need to live in a heavily and readily armed society to be safe is extremely sad and warrants us to take a look at whats wrong with society itself.

You know whats funny, states with more guns have lower crime rates. Compound that with the fact that states who have laws were civilians can carry concealed weapons have even less crime.
