I don't think its out of the question to say that the Flash has fallen off the most severely in recent memory. I'm talking about titles that had once been fantastic, but in only 1-2 years are now completely terrible. I stopped reading it after Rogue War or whatever, tried to pick it up again, and simply couldn't do it. Bart's death was one of the weakest things I've read from DC. Seriously, during Rogue War, I remember everyone on here singing Johns' praises like he was the Second Coming. Calling his run among the greatest ever. Saying the Flash was one of the best superhero comics out, period. Now we scoff at the title. Has there been another comic to suck so bad, so fast?

The Flash book that you're talking about didn't tank. It went on hiatus, and is soon to continue again.

That said, reading that interview in Wizard, I'm a bit worried that it will, in fact, suck, at least compared to the first 230 issues.

It wasn't Johns' fault. He wrapped up one of the greatest runs on any title in recent memories and the title was given to people who were less than up to par. That coupled with some stupid editorial mandates createad a pretty big problem.

It became good again a good 6 months ago.

Yeah, it did. The second they got rid of that Bilson and dumbass combo they had.

Fantastic Four after Byrne left was pretty bad. The stories became really silly, with Thing taking the helm of the team while Reed and Sue went off to join the Avengers. At one point they brought in a female c-list hero who the Thing fell for and then she turned into a female version of him. I can't even remember who she was or how she changed, but I remember dropping the book not more than 6 months after Byrne left.

She-Thing aka Ventura, the mother of Ben's Children in the MC2 Universe.

I guess some writer knew how to turn lead into gold then. Man the stink of She-Thing is hard to get over. Was it Shannon Ventura? I remember she had all these issues about Ben touching her because she had been sexually abused and then she became She-Thing and was so happy because no one would want to touch her again.

Hawkgirl tanked waaaay harder than the Flash. At least the Flash was good when Guggenheim was on board.

I don't recall Hawkman being heaps better. The book was slightly above average when it was Hawkman, and slightly above average when it was Hawkgirl.

I would say Nightwing.
What the hell is everyone's problem with Nightwing? Get over the sub-par OYL arc! EVERY title had a sub-par OYL arc!

Yeah, it did. The second they got rid of that Bilson and dumbass combo they had.
That's the real tragedy here.

Most people think Hawkman went from slightly above average to mother****ing horrible.

It wasn't a sub-par OYL arc. It was a laughably poorly written mess of a OYL arc. NOW the title is simply sub-par. Which, considering the steady goodness of Dixon's original run, isn't good.

Yeah, as excited as I was for Wolfman, Nightwing is pretty average at best.

But you gotta love Aristotle. Never a relevant thought or addition to any conversation, it just likes to come in here and tell us how smart he thinks he is. YAY!

Which means what? That I usually disagree with you? When I say a book is average, it's not relevant. When you say a book is average, it's valuable information, because it came from the mind of the brilliant Darthphere, ruler of at least ten internet forum goons?

In this thread I have: differentiated Flash from Fastest Man Alive, expressed a concern that the resumed Flash won't be as good as it was when it left off with #230, and disputed assertions that Hawkgirl and Nightwing sucked. At no point did I tell anyone how smart I think I am. Are the words too big? Are you having trouble wrapping your head around a word like "hiatus"?

Yes.

Granted that Hawkman's sales were never that good to begin with, for several months sales acutally went up. And then Hawkgirl came in and the book became DC's lowest selling title extremely quickly.

What made it worse was that DC actually thought that people liked Hawkgirl :o

They apparently still do. That's why she has been shoehorned onto JLA.

I like Hawkgirl, but I don't read her book.
