TMOS Review & Speculation Thread

Just read this thread. There are a lot of people who cares.

There a lot of people who care because they are afraid of not reading what they want to read, because, as I said, we are ALL looking for some kind of validation, it's only human.

What we should do is not care, sure it's cool, and it will be cool if the reviews are all positive, but as always, if reviews are positive, we will say "GOOD CRITIC YOU DID A GOOD JOB, YOU LIKE IT, SO THIS REASSURES ME", if the critics are bad, people will be pissed, say the reviewers dont know squat, bla bla, happens ALL THE TIME.

I am one of those who likes to have validation, b ut lately, I find myself disagreeing more and more with critics, lately with The Hangover Part 3 that will be for some people bad, and got trashed by the critics. Saw it the other day with open mind, I already liked the second one which also got trashed, and I loved the third one.

Just try to let go of this, I cant count the times where I've been biased against something or not wanting to see something because of some critics, and being pleasantly surprised when I did.

People need to understand that not everyone will like this movie just like any other film. Dark knight, avengers have their critics and people who hate them. Just be happy that they are in the minority in what we have seen so far.

People are just scared it will end up like GL. Low box office, no sequel planned.
And this is Superman's last chance this decade so it needs a high enough BO for a sequel, which will be more likely if the reviews are good.

If no one cares about critics, why was this thread created? :D

because some people have to be told what to like and what not to like by someone else :(

seriously people, so what if someone didn't like it... does that one review alone make it a complete failure? does that make all other positive reviews pointless and worthless? i think not... has this movie even been released yet?

come June 14th, it wont matter what this person had to say... you'll be able to see the movie for yourself, and hate it, love it, like it, dislike it, whatever you want to think.

patience is a virtue, people.

I dont know. it seems like a bit of attention grabbing to me.
Maybe she doesnt like it, so what. I didnt care for IM3 either, but that sure didnt hurt the BO any.

For now, all reactions are very positive, there's this one girl that said that it's terrible with a provocative tweet, and another guy saying he heard from a couple of people that it's abysmal, so you see, many are panicking.

Good buzz encourages the general audience to go out and see it. Also helps with future movies. But really mass approval and $$$ is what marks the movie a success.

Many people are weak like that, if only we knew the number of people watching (like the average joe) the RT score, and then deciding whether or not to see the movie.

This thread is proof people give credence to 1 negative tweet over a dozen positive tweets. You are all pessimists

would like to hear from someone ive actually heard of first or from a site ive actually heard of.

no one is saying that everyone is going to love it, neither is anyone saying that there won't be naysayers, haters, or dislikers... the point we're making is to not base the success of a movie on one person's one sentence review.

base the success of a movie on your own opinion, not the opinion of others.

I think it's human, a lot of people will just see the negative review and ignore all the positive ones

Was there confirmation that the previous tweet saying almost the same thing (if studio has faith go and tweet #thisistheend, when it doesnt #embargo) was not in reference to Man of Steel?

Overall it would still be a minority opinion, but just wondering how sure people are that she wasnt talking about MOS too.

The one thing that's interesting too is that we all are in different states of mind when we see a movie. Some people go in expecting to like it, others expecting to hate it, already sharpening their knives, others are purposefully hating on the movie to get attention, they want people to hear their voice. Other people go in without any expectations, fans such as us will go in and will be more appreciative probably of the movie's qualities and flaws, an average joe will just see the movie as an ensemble, since he doesnt have the same passion for it.

It works for everything.
For example if a girl gets told she is beautiful by 10 people and 1 person says she is ugly. She will probably trust the latter.

I don't go in reading reviews thinking I'm 100% like said reviewer. I enjoy hearing other people's opinions. I find it interesting be it negative or positive. I want MOS to be a a huge success, but truth be told I could end up disliking it. There's always that 1% chance. The thing is, if critics give it rave reviews that doesn't tell me it's great. I mean just like academy awards, a lot of times the critics get it wrong. Then again it's just my opinion. Free speech is what makes the world a fun place. If everyone agreed it rocked or sucked, imagine how boring.

I like to choose the reviewers I tend to agree with. But even with those reviewers, their opinion will only sway me about a movie I wasn't super excited to see to begin with. A movie like Man of Steel could get a 1% and I'd still go out to see it because it's Superman and I've been pumped about it.

GL bombed and I was at a work conference wearing my GL Tshirt excited to see it when I saw the review. Did I still see it? Of course! And though I'll never argue that it's a good movie, I did like it and it's on my bluray shelf. Take that reviewers and majority of fans!

great movie

One other interesting aspect to it, and it might get cheesy, but is that who you are as a person, your personality will also inform your opinion. I know I have movies that are very personal to me, that just trigger something in me, and I could show it to friends, and they wouldnt understand why, or see even why it does that to me. Magic of movies.

I've pretty much expected it from a diehard fanbase within a diehard site that's been years and years attached to MOS. The bad reviews I can care less about, for every 100 good reviews, there will be 1 UGLY one. You take it with a grain of salt and put it in your holster of the journey this movie has become. Take the great, good and amazing with the terrible and bad. It's what makes this whole merry-go-round FUN.

Like I said, it's not bad reviews I dread. It's the reaction to that ONE bad review that could ultimately damper ones enthusiasm for the movie and that should NEVER, NEVER happen. There are only a handful who have seen it. Majority good reviews so far. Maybe a couple bad. JUST WAIT until this is going to be full throttle within the public in 13 days. It's going to be a "don't blink or you'll miss it" type of fuel to the fire.

Yeah don't let this get to you like what that guy RIM did with TASM. He basically ruined many fans' hopes when he was the first one to see it and said he really didnt like it.

Two people have responded to "Jenn Murphy" on twitter with no responses. One was:

"I hope it's not Man of Steel. I want this movie to be good for the fanbase's sake."

somebody responded to her:

"Can't be Man of Steel. It's getting RAVE reviews everywhere...."
