Tobey's crying

And in response to that clip as an example, the end of that paticular SV episode invoked much more of an emotional response in me than the breakup scene on the bridge.

You see, the thing that kinda gets to me about the Spidey films is their lack of subtlety. Granted I think the trilogy is amazing but the thing is that they pretty much beat you over the head with the messages they try to get across...esp. during the Aunt May scenes. :whatever:

Sometimes, less is more Mr. Raimi.

wow.. that scene you just posted, LostSon88 reminded me of ANOTHER similar scene in Spiderman 3.

the look that lex gives clark as he is about to enter the limo - as if to say, 'i won. you lose' is so awesome and subtle. and in spiderman 3, harry WINKS at peter from the restaurant! lol.

About that whole wink thing- that was meant to hint back to Norman Osborn and the way his face as the Goblin contorted into a wicked grin. Notice that the way they shape their grin is not even remarkably similar- it's EXACTLY the same. The son becomes the father...

It's all about personalities. Lex Luthor was always subtle, thus he is portrayed that way. The Goblins were NEVER subtle and there is a huge difference between Lex and Norman & Harry. Harry becomes his father and takes on those more maniacal personality traits that hie father had. Whereas Lex is more the business man, sublte but stab you in the back speaker.

When you guys see the movie again, pay attention to the scene when Peter asks Harry for help. Harry looks down at his sword, and he looks exactly like Norman. It's the way the scar shapes his face, looks just like him.

on second view, the crying wasnt as laughable, no matter how crappy the film was...not for me at least

Tobey's crying reminded me of that little girl crying over Sanjaya on American Idol.

Well, I just saw It, and after reading more crying on these boards than what happened In the movie, I have to say this: I honestly don't see what the fuss Is. I see people say there was way too much crying, I didn't see It. I saw nothing funny about the way Tobey looked. No one In my theatre laughed.

Mine was full of laughter.

When I saw it for a 2nd time yesterday, the crowd didn't make a peep. Most of them where kids though...

Still...its kinda ironic how an audience of pre-teens handled the crying scenes more maturely than a bunch of grown men (from my 1st viewing). :o

Lost Son. Stop it. No one is going to believe that sense of thought any longer. It's pretty pointless to call people immature for laughing at a damn movie because something looked funny.

They probably knew a lot less about acting than the more experimented audience. :)

I saw it again last night for the third time... and for the third time, everyone laughed when Tobey cried.

Face it. The breakup scene was just damn painful, no matter how you try to reason with it.

Look, i'm not gonna get into any debate over this too much as this issue has been covered at nasuem...i'm just gonna say this,

Did it look funny? Hell yeah.

But, given the context of the scene, think about it, who doesn't look funny when they break down? Hence why I didn't find it funny.

But during my 1st viewing, it was just group of 5 guys who were totally ruining the scene...everyone else in the audience was caught up in the moment until their IMMATURE laughing kinda killed the vibe.

That's all i'm saying. Disagree? Its all good. :cwink:
