Tom Rothman mentions the Letters Campaign

I thought X1 and X2 were decent. Wasn't exactly impressed, but there was the hope that X3 would make the overall series worth it.

Said hopes were obliterated while watching X3. Good X-flicks just won't happen with Fox at the helm. Been yelling about a reboot ever since I joined. :woot:

Not only a reboot -

Really? I didn't exactly see them greenlight an X-4 right off the bat. :woot:

And yet for some reason, they're still going for those two spin-offs.

My take on said sentence what that it would allow them to get SOMETHING right besides the occasional name associated with the right power. :woot:

I don't want a restart. That would mean taking away Kelsey :( :p

Combine Tom Rothman's comments with Ralph Winter's and it sounds like there are no immediate plans for an X4. They have Wolverine, Young Magento and Young X-Men in the pipleline, which along with Fantastic Four, should keep them busy for the next 5-10 years. Then they could look at a restart with a new cast.

A restart now? Noooo. First should appear Gambit and Emma. Then they can do whatever they want.

If they are going to restart they will have to wait another 5+ years. People still have X1, 2 and 3 in their minds.

They won't loose the opportunity of using again the great cast that already have:

Halle, Anna, Kelsey, Ellen, Ben, maybe Hugh... They will be x-men one more time, be sure.

I have no doubt there's gonna be an X4. X3 was a crap movie but more people became aware of X-Men (in the movies' way, not at all comics though...:csad:). Especially here in Greece many people liked it, if X3 was the first movie they watched. Then they rent X2 or watched on TV the other days and said "what a movie!" (about X2). Now many people might get into comics because of the movies (i really caught up myself after i saw X2 in DVD last year...). Hopefully so, they can be demanding. Batman is the all time classic example for this kind of superhero treatment in a movie.

The X-movies have undoubtely brought much money to Fox, why not do it again? Even if it turns out to be crap again, they will. I am personally willing to wait for 5+ years to get a good x-movie. The question is simple. Is Fox patient enough to wait that long so that they can make a descent x-movie?

About Halle's popularity, i think she became widely known when she was casted as Bond girl. Most people knew Paquin because of the Oscar in Piano. And certainly the big name was Patrick Stewart. Long live the Star Trek franchise :oldrazz:

I'd actually say that it will be too difficult to get all those cast members back. They already had a near impossible time getting them together for X3. Then, even afterward the impression that I got was that a lot of them didn't like the film. There were a couple of touchy moments between Halle and Anna in interviews from Cannes that just told me there was so much conflict going on there... some cast members clearly weren't happy. I'm sure Anna knew quite well that her character development made absolutely no sense.

Then some other shocking things like Ian and Patrick saying 'the script is the best of the three films'... now I know for a fact that neither of these actors are completely ******ed... so this must have been part of their contract.

Halle will come back because they finally gave in to her overbearing ego... now she can pretty much just walk around the X mansion with that perpetual look of vulnerability on her face shooting things with lightning and Fox will probably settle for that.

Xavier is dead, Scott's dead and Jean's dead (with a backstory that makes her seem like a weird murderess unredeemable freak). Most of them are cured...

I just don't see how any rational person could even consider that there will be an X4... THEY SHOT THEMSELVES IN THE FOOT SEVERAL TIMES (and at the end of the day, who knows for sure why they made such incomprehensible decisions during the making of the film - Time? Money? A-list celebs wanting bigger roles? The simple fact that they weren't creative enough to recognise the potential of the source material? The simple fact that they just didn't have the talent to do it? Too much producer interference? A project that was too rushed? Fear? Fear of taking risks? All of the above???)

If they make an X4 it will be totally CRAP.
A restart is the only way to go...

LOL exactly! I was very disappointed they didn't have Rogue losing control after absorbing too many powers in the movies. That was always great in the comics and led to interesting developments. But I guess she didn't absorb enough powers in the movies (Wolverine, Magneto, Iceman, Pyro and Colossus are all I can think of.)

Wolverine, Magneto, Iceman, Pyro and Colossus, that seems a good number of people already, and pretty diverse powers...

In my ideal X4, Rogue should be the new Jean.

I have faith that they can find a better cast. Anything is possible.

I long for a stronger Storm, a more humorous Iceman, a much sassier Rogue, a more ferocious Wolverine, a more charismatic Kitty, and a more loveable Cyke.

Sure these are things that can be changed with the writing, but alot of things are what the actor brings to the table.

So in a cheese factor of 1 -10 how corny was i just now?

:p

Ralph Winter:
But there's lots of talk. The X-Men world is rich with different characters, so there are lots of spin-offs that could happen. There's talk of a "young Magneto" movie, there's talk of "the young X-Men," and of course Wolverine. There's plenty of places you could go in that world. I think as long as we could continue to make interesting, compelling movies that people want to see, then it could play out for a long time.

The interview seems pretty recent and he makes no mention of a possible X4, just the spinoffs. I'd like to know who's "talking".

I wouldn't like a complete restart with a new cast. That would pretty much deny the first trilogy of all meaning.

I swear on something holy and divine if Young X-men come out before Scott or Ororo get definite roles as leaders, origins, or PERSONALITIES, a time to actually take part in the main plot, or a reason to stay alive (yes, that refers to both of them) or let alone dialog that doesn't f'n suck, I will fart in a box, seal it shut, and send it to someone in charge of this.

I'm ok with a restart or a TV series that retcons EVERYTHING. :woot: Starts from scratch and gives time for characters to be complete.

LMAO that's the spirit Goddess! But Scott's gonna need his life back first. Unless... ZOMBIE X-MEN!!! :D lol j/k

ROTFLMAO!!

That is hysterical.

I'll send a giant loogie in an envelope.

^--:)) I wouldn't be surprised to see him walk up to the Mansion door, get let in, and no one thinks twice about how or why and they go on like it's a regular Tuesday.

Or we get another "explanation" like telekinetic cocoon. Oh dear God, if that happens again, that's gonna be another box full of fart from me to Fox.
