Hopefully it’s just an issue about where they shoot. If they are following the 2nd game no where in the US will double for that.
At this point, I'll believe it when I see it.
I completely forgot MGM is likely to sell soon. If I'm Sony, I'm really considering it. At the very least you'd have Bond and CreedMGM could just be trying to make their portfolio more attractive to a potential buyer but I still would like it to happen but it’s very hard to be confident these days.
.....Wasnt a sequel announced though?
.....Wasnt a sequel announced though?
In January of this year, it was announced that Misha Green would write and direct the Tomb Raider sequel. Apparently, that doesn't mean the project was officially greenlighted...![]()
But it is relatively recent news.
Sure it was announced, then there was a pandemic. And let's also not forget the last movie wasn't all that great to begin with.
So let's look at the returns on the 2018 movie. Had a budget of about $94 million. US box office was $58 million. Worldwide was $274 million. So maybe the movie broke even. Reviews weren't all that great either.
It's still in script stage, so maybe it will happen. Vikander still seems open to do it, but it sounds like prospects might be dwindling. Can they even still get it financed post-pandemic in an uncertain theatrical market?
Doesn't seem like a sure thing right now.
