Hopefully it’s just an issue about where they shoot. If they are following the 2nd game no where in the US will double for that.

Awesome, hopefully they can get this moving soon I really liked the first movie and Vikander was a big round reason for that.

Very indifferent to the choice and I clearly preferred Ben Wheatley but I'm glad it's still happening.

MGM could just be trying to make their portfolio more attractive to a potential buyer but I still would like it to happen but it’s very hard to be confident these days.

I completely forgot MGM is likely to sell soon. If I'm Sony, I'm really considering it. At the very least you'd have Bond and Creed

Does MGM own the Bond film franchise or just the movie rights, how does that work?

Legend isn't a bad TR game but it is not a classic era TR game unless you're young.
Is she aware that classic era TR games ended with TR3 ?

Anyways, I'm on board. I very much liked A.Vikander as Lara Croft from the now ended new games trilogy.

Loved what Misha Green did with Lovecraft so I really look forward to what she’s gonna do with TR.

Interesting we are getting an animated show as well, just hope the movie sequel is good though love Vikander in this role.

if it is based on the remake trilogy I wonder if Camila Luddington will do her voice?

.....Wasnt a sequel announced though?

Sure it was announced, then there was a pandemic. And let's also not forget the last movie wasn't all that great to begin with.

So let's look at the returns on the 2018 movie. Had a budget of about $94 million. US box office was $58 million. Worldwide was $274 million. So maybe the movie broke even. Reviews weren't all that great either.

It's still in script stage, so maybe it will happen. Vikander still seems open to do it, but it sounds like prospects might be dwindling. Can they even still get it financed post-pandemic in an uncertain theatrical market?

Doesn't seem like a sure thing right now.

In January of this year, it was announced that Misha Green would write and direct the Tomb Raider sequel. Apparently, that doesn't mean the project was officially greenlighted...  But it is relatively recent news.

I mean from this board alone we see multiple directors come and go frequently on a given project.

Lest we forget at one point, Matthew Vaughn was directing the original Thor movie.

next Star Trek movie is already on its third or fourth director. Fourth if you count the Tarantino pitch.

For one, because WB doesn't have distribution rights for the second film. Also because not everything needs to be exclusively on streaming.

Usually when you announce a sequel it means that you've greenlit it. This isn't a "I hope there is one" situation.

If they backtracked, fine but it sounds like it was never greenlit to begin with.
