Top 10 albums of the year

look how low the numbers are. there was a time when artists were selling almost 2 million in one week. i remember at least 2 artists selling over 2 mill in one week (one was n'sync, think the other was garth brooks).

with all the downloading and stuff these days, cd sales are really down. that, and the 18.99 price tag most come with.
Only N'Sync :vomit: has sold 2+mil in a week. I only know that from the research I did earlier tonight on grunge... :csad:

As it stands from what I can figure out, first week sales records look like this

1. N'Sync - No Strings Attached 2.4 mil.
2. Backstreet Boys - Millenium 1,134,000
3. Garth Brooks - Double Live 1,085,373
4. Pearl Jam - Vs 950,000+* (*at the time rather than the full seven days, only the first five days were counted, more than likely Vs is #2.)

That said my albums of 2006 in no particular order:

10,000 Days - Tool
Pearl Jam - Pearl Jam
Living With War - Neil Young
Rebel Meets Rebel - Rebel Meets Rebel
A Matter of Life and Death - Iron Maiden
Black Stone Cherry - Black Stone Cherry
Revelations - Audioslave

Can't find a chart, but add to that list NSYNC's Celebrity (1.8 mill), Eminem's Marshall Mathers LP (1.7 mill), Usher's Confessions (over 1.1 mill), 50 Cent's The Massacre (1.15 mill) and Backstreet's Black & Blue (1.6 mill).

Alright, I was just goin with what I found on the PJ wiki for Vs. It just had N'Sync and BSB. Found the Garth Brooks on a link from there.

Good album, but they're appalling live.

I still haven't bought "A Matter of Life and Death". I'm a horrible Iron Maiden fan. :csad:

Wait a sec, didnt Kelly Clarkson' CD come out like 2 years ago?

I'm a little dissapointed that the Live8 dvd hasn't sold that much yet. Come on people, it goes to a great cause. Help save the children!

I would hope my mom had much better taste.

Man, you really do hate me don't you? I hope this won't stop you from helping the poverty stricken masses in Africa.

I got all "crazed fan" when I knew this was going to come out.
then I heard it :csad: Picaresque is much better, and Castaways and Cutouts is even better still.

I can't disagree with that - but still even a subpar Decemberists albums is better than most of the crap out right now! :) Castaways and Cutouts is always going to be my favorite though. (So. Good. Gah.)

I can't be bothered to think of ten, so I'll simply say that, in my opinion, the four best new albums that were released this year were:

This New Day - Embrace
Eyes Open - Snow Patrol
Under The Iron Sea - Keane
Razorlight - Razorlight

not as in to alternative music as you guys- i'm surprised kelly clarkson is on the list that came out mid way through 2005!

I didn't get that many new albums this year, but the ones I got were all good. They are, as follows:

Tilly and the Wall "Bottoms of Barrells"
Pearl Jam "Pearl Jam"
Iron Maiden "A Matter of Life and Death"
Bob Dylan "Modern Times"
