Top 10 Arnie Movies!

It's definitely one of the B-grade ones, absolutely. That sort of End Of Days/The 6th Day/Collateral Damage category, ones that never clicked with the audience and nobody gives a **** about. Still a pretty good example of "an Arnold movie, no more, no less" however.

Had sorta forgotten about Collateral Damage too. It ain't great, but that's another example of "AUUGHHAUUGHAUUUGHH" guy himself trying something a little more somber & serious. Goes balls-out actionfest at the end anyway though, of course, haha.

Love Bill Hader's bit about that movie too, he was Ahnuld's P.A. on it back in 2001 or whatever it was. "Don't open de doooah, dere's a BAMB IN DEYAH!" :D

:funny:

Ah Collateral Damage, directed by Andrew Davis of The Fugitive and Under Siege pedigree! I remember the big waterfall jump was a highlight and the terrorist racing around on the motorbike at the end, this was one of Arnie's attempts to play a serious "every man" type of hero.

I've noticed a few mentions for Maggie now, I haven't seen that, and good to see another nod for Eraser. :D

Eraser's fine, yeah. Not good, not bad, just a fun time. Always loved the crazy rail-guns in that too, wish they'd gone something a little more that route for the Hydra stuff in the MCU, even The First Avenger. High tech but a little grittier or whatever than "Star Wars blasters". Cool Silvestri music though, Caan's decent in it, that Pastorelli guy's really funny, Vanessa Williams was always cute. Second to True Lies it's probably his best action thing post-early-90s.

Heh, didn't realize The Fugitive director did Collateral Damage either, that's bananas. Talk about a drop.

Always feel bad for that Cliff Curtis actor, too. New Zealand Maori guy, and he's always getting cast as Latino gangsters like in Training Day, or Colombian rebels in Collateral Damage, or Indian dudes in other stuff. :funny:

Eraser kinda felt like the end of Arnie'sz run, I know he had End of Days, Collateral Damage and T3 after that, but Eraser was like the last big summer blockbuster they expected to sell on Arnie's name alone. Those rail guns were put to good use in the finale. :D: I agree that the supoorting cast were all pretty decent and I didn't realize Silvestri did the score for Eraser.

The guy had Under Siege and The Fugitive...then Chain Reaction and Collateral Damage, talk about peaks and valleys! :funny:

 I didn't realize he was Maori, like you say he's never cast as his own race.

I just love the True Lies trailer. It’s 90s perfection. They could never make this movie today because of the comedic tone mixed with generic Middle East terrorist bad guys but this really is my favorite movie of his.

I love Marvel movies but I miss summer blockbusters like this. It wasn’t designed as part of a franchise or cinematic universe. Just a great time in a nice air conditioned theater.

Total Recall

The Terminator

True Lies

Kindergarten Cop

Predator

Terminator 2: Judgement Day

The Last Action Hero

Jingle All the Way

Commando

The Running Man

Special mention to Pumping Iron as that movie got me into lifting and bodybuilding. Changed my life forever.

  • Terminator
  • Predator
  • Conan
  • Terminator II
  • Total Recall
  • Last Action Hero
  • Red Heat
  • True Lies but it's the remake of a French movie so I had to add this chauvinism comment :)
Edit : and hell yes to Gina Gershon.

I'm cheating for Arnie. Can't decide on the order.

1984 - The Terminator
1986 - Commando
1987 - Predator
1988 - Twins
1990 - Total Recall
1990 - Kindergarten Cop
1991 - Terminator 2: Judgment Day
1993 - Last Action Hero
1994 - True Lies
1996 - Jingle All The Way

Extra picks: Red Heat, Eraser --- and Batman & Robin is a guilty pleasure for me. The Last Stand was actually pretty good, too.

1. True Lies. It's easily the top for me by a wide margin. It's also one of my favourite rewatchable films. I've enjoyed it more than any of the Bond films made since.

Then afterwards it's probably

2. T2
3. Escape Plan
3. Compare the Meerkat

5. Commando
6. Terminator
7. Jingle all the Way
8. Conan the Barbarian
9. Terminator 3
10. Batman and Robin

Any Austrian Death Machine fans here? For those unaware, it’s a metal band that bases its songs on Arnold movie quotes.

Most of the albums have the ****tiest Ahnuld impressions though. Josh Robert Thompson's is the uncannily-awesome one, doing them on Double Brutal, but the rest kinda suck with the other impressionists doing it. And even then, all the "Ahnuldisms" during the actual song vocals are just the band guys, and they're awful too. Band itself is a little lame to boot, all that cliche blast-beat stuff and ultra-modern "hardcore" influence. Still, some fun choruses with the Ahnuldisms.

Plus the singer's a criminal creep, so **** 'em.

Still, Josh Robert Thompson is the man when it comes to the Arnold voice, nobody else comes close. His Howard Stern & Craig Ferguson stuff is bananas.

Plus he's got a perfect Morgan Freeman & De Niro, too, guy's crazy talented.

EDIT: Heh, never seen that commercial before Dark Raven. Where did that air? Borat-meerkats & Ahnuld (listening to friggin' Tiffany of all things :oldrazz:), that's pretty fun.

That aired in the UK. They had a few other non Ahnuld commercials plus there was also an interview between the two.

And yes it was funny to hear Tiffany.

Pretty damn awesome. :) Baron Cohen's probably got a case against 'em though, you'd figure, haha. Even adds the "s" to "Californias" like he would. Nah. Pretty clear they're apeing Borat directly though, even if you'd never prove it legally.

Always admired Arnold for being a good sport making fun of himself with these types of things though.

Arnold was in Around the World in 80 Days with a ridiculous haircut:

  1. T2
  2. The Terminator
  3. True Lies
  4. Predator
  5. Total Recall
  6. Twins
  7. Conan the Destroyer (I don’t care what anyone says, this is my favorite Conan movie!)
  8. The Running Man
  9. Kindergarten Cop
  10. Jingle All the Way

Honorable Mention: I have to say that I have a soft spot for End of Days. It’s probably the stupidest devil/apocalypse movie ever but Gabriel Byrne is awesome in it and Arnold (Jericho Crane!) delivers on of his best cheesy lines. I remember cracking up at the part where he says to Byrne, “YOU AHH A FOOKING CHOI-AH BOY COOMPAY-AHHED TO ME!”

Also, I never saw Red Heat but now that I know that Gina Gershon is in it, I need to. Love that gorgeous woman. Bound FTW!

End of Days was a bit of an oddity from Arnie, it was dark but also pretty silly, the opening sequence where he's chasing that guy hanging from a chopper from some kind of harness gmmick was pretty cool.

End of Days is hugely underrated in amongst his films. For me, it has his best 'acting' performance but I've not seen Maggie and by all accounts, that has his best performance.

I thought he was decent in End of Days, he played of Robin Tunney quite well I felt. I haven't seen Maggie either, the story just doesn't appeal to me.
