Top 5 Franchises of All-Time

For your Star Wars question, wasn't there a christmas movie special with Chewbacca? I'm not sure if that's the answer you're looking for, but it was the only thing that I could think of.
The Christmas special was shown only once on TV...and from what I hear Lucas wants all copies destroyed...the 2 TV movies he made about the Ewoks were released theatrically around the world though.

It's not a mystery, it's probably just that animated DVD. The one with Mace Windu on the cover, forgot what it's called.

It was answered earlier in this thread.

Attack of the Clones at the I-Max is the #7 film.

Thought I'd update this as the next Potter movie isn't far. Also, Casino Royale made the Bond Franchise the highest grossing franchise ever. Here are the new numbers:

1. James Bond
Movies: 22
WW Gross: $4,495,234,026

2. Star Wars
Movies: 7
WW Gross: $4,342,748,947

3. Harry Potter
Movies: 4
WW Gross: $3,538,297,759

4. Lord of the Rings
Movies: 3
WW Gross: $2,923,933,388

5. Spider-Man
Movies: 3
WW Gross: $2,420,394,915

So Potter still has a very small chance of becoming the highest grossing franchise with OOTP (needing $957M+ worldwide), but will most likely have to wait for HBP to take the title.

1. Star Wars
2. Indiana Jones
3. Back to the Future
4. The Lord of the Rings
5. Pirates of the Caribbean

My top five:
1. Star Wars
2. Indiana Jones
3. Bourne
4. James Bond
5. Back to the Future

How is that possible? it was just an cut down version of the theatrical? It's 6 1/2 perhaps.

1.Spider-Man
2.Star Wars
3.Indiana Jones
4.Austin Powers
5.Jurassic Park

1.) Star Wars
2.) Star Trek
3.) Lord of the Rings
4.) X-Files
5.) Comic Book movies (Superman, Batman, Spiderman etc)

Probably should've added "By Box Office" to the title as this is more an observation of the actual Top 5 Franchises than my own personal opinion.

i drew up my list in terms of pop-culture impact.

The Mission: Impossible franchise has incredible quality control. All three films are great.

Can Lord of the Rings really be considered a franchise. It had three movies sure, but they were all made at the same time and are more often than not considered to be one movie.

and with the excpetion of the Hobbit,(Which we all know is going "great" right now) there is no future to the series.

I always considered Fanchise to mean at least a trilogy, but one which always had prospects to continue in some form or another, whether it be a reboot, or whatever, spin off etc.

'Franchise' refers to the name, the property itself as a money-making outlet, more than anything to do with the number of films.

My Top 5:

- Indiana Jones
- The Godfather
- Lord of the Rings
- Star Trek
- Star Wars

^Runner ups were Die Hard (hopefully LFDH is a critical success) and Rocky franchises.
Hopefully, The Bourne Ultimatum is of the same or higher quality of the first 2. If that is the case, it'll also be one of my top franchises.
