Top 5 things that annoy me about internet message boards

1. People who create a thread that has nothing in it but a link to some other page. If you got nothing to say, then you got nothing to say. So don't say anything.

2. When someone posts a huge post that goes on for lines and lines and takes up half the page, and then someone quotes it only to reply with a smiley face or some crap.

3. When someone posts three or four large JPEG's in a row that takes up half the page and them someone quotes it only to reply with a smiley face or some crap.

4. When someone posts an entire post in some kind of combination of leetspeak internet slang BS and abbreviations. If you have to abbreviate the post, "I really enjoyed Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer" into "FFROTSS ", then your opinion becomes null and void in my book.

5. Last but not least, people who have absolutely no desire to use correct grammar or spelling. We have spell check here. The occasional misspelling or grammatical error is one thing, but what is with posts in all lower-case letters with no punctuation and no effort in spelling? Are we that illiterate as a society? Or just lazy?

e.g. last but not leest people that have no way to use right ways to type or speling we have spell check here the sometime spelling wrong or typing wrongly is one thing but what is with posts in all lowercase with no punctuation and no effort in spelling are we that illiterate as a society or just lazy

Oh and one more,

people on message boards who complain about people on message boards

Posters at Valboards still can't stand other people's opinions eh?
How does disagreeing with someone mean you can't stand their opinion? MB did exactly what you did to me when I posted my list. The difference being, MB actually tried to interject some element of logic and a factual basis.
Also, didn't Batman start around 1939?
He meant "based off the early comics in the '30s."
Plus in the early comics, he killed people, and he used guns.
And Burton's Batman killed people too.

Aside from that, I think something you're overlooking - and a lot of people do it - is the spirit of the comics something is based on. You can be very heavily based on something without copying it word for word, event for event. Does Batman use guns and throw people off of rooftops in Burton's movies? No, but with the tone of the film, and the characterization of the various characters throughout the film, Burton draws a lot from those early comics.

So you're defending tone over content?

So you're defending tone over content?
No, I'm saying there's more to content than simple plot and dialogue issues. Characterization, visual style, and other elements such as that play an equally large - if not larger - role.

Where exactly do plot and story come into the analysis?

Where exactly do plot and story come into the analysis?
In terms of the quality of a film? It comes into the analysis immediately, of course.

But in terms of comic book adaptation, I don't think you ever need to copy a particular story to make the movie good. As long as you have proper characterization of the character the movie's about and a good albeit original plot or story, then you have a good movie on your hands.
