Fortunately for the people who listed it, this is a favorite and not a best thread.
 
I'd have to think about this real hard, but a preliminary answer is: The Little Mermaid will be up there for sure
 
Ghost in the Shell - Deep, meaningful and beautifully staged (even if you have no clue what most of it is about).

Toy Story - Classic film making. Amazing cast.

Perfect Blue - Psychological thriller that makes hollywood efforts seem tame.

Lupin the 3rd - Castle of Cagliostro - Amazingly fun film. Great script and amazing work from everyone involved.

Akira - Fantastic setting and story telling.
