I thought this was interesting.

Totally Insane Ebaying PS3 Nutjob *****ebags of the Week!

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. I hate the fact that 99% of PS3s going out tonight at Midnight are going to be put on Ebay. The damn thing costs enough as it is without having to shell out an extra $600 to $14,000 on top of the $599 you are going to drop on it in the first place.

There are lines of idiots all over the country freezing their asses off all planning on putting this $600 Elmo Doll up on eBay immediately. **** that.

I personally hope that there are so many damn PS3s up on eBay that the price gets driven down somewhere around $900. Was it worth freezing your balls off for $300? Did taking a day or two off from work and sitting in a Wal-Mart justify your 50% profit?

Because Sony has decided to launch with so few consoles, they are responsible for the riots that will ensue when person #11 doesn't get his hands on Best Buy's shipment of only 10.

As much as it pains me to say it, Sony should have pushed back launch until the Spring when they could have a respectable amount of consoles on the shelves. Even pushing it back a month may have helped ease some of the pain. Instead reports are coming from all over the country of fights breaking out over line positioning.

In Kindergarten one of the first things you learn is how to stand in a line. Wait your turn. Way to go humanity.

The Wii is hitting this weekend too. Expect it to sell out as well, but don't bother going crazy trying to get to Circuit City before anyone else. Nintendo will be shipping out more consoles quickly. By Christmas you'll most likely be able to walk into a store and find one on a shelf without much hassle. At least, there will be less punching and BB gun attacks.

Begun this console war has.

Plus, people are getting shot, beaten up, etc.
That's just wrong

But that's both Sony's and the people's fault, IMO.

Sony = Because of how they advertised and promoted the ps3, making it sound like some kind of forbidden fruit that anyone would want, and having so few units., etc, etc.

The people = Because of their general lack of culture and/or being ******ed. You have the idiot millionares, the ass clown Sony fanboys, and the "I wanna make some money" crowd.

I can almost picture some wannabe suburban gangstas going "YO, YO, YO! THE PZ3 IS GONNA BE HAAAWT! WE GOTS TO GET INTO DAT! WE GOTS TO GET DEM TO EBAY AND WE BE MAKIN' THE GREEN STUFF!!" or whatever.

Ugh, I hate people :down

Edit: And of course, you also have your normal blood sucking bastards that run small businesses or whatever, I'm pretty sure they'll be going to ebay as well.

Agreed. They are both to blame.

Sony can redeem themselves by using the opportunity for population control and carrying out aerial strikes on the ******s lined up waiting.

I also don't get how so many people don't have the patience to wait and can afford to pay over $1,000 on ebay for something that will be available at about half the price pretty soon after.

I just read in the local newspaper about the PS3. Almost everyone they spoke to was planning to sell it on EBay. Only one guy was actually planning to keep the system for himself.

Same here, everyone I have heard of plans to sell it on ebay. I haven't heard of too many people prepared to buy on ebay for such a lot of money but there's obviously a lot of rich impatient dudes out there with a dislike for queuing.

I would laugh v.hard if ebay crashes until the second shipment arrives. :yay:

I notice a lot of people are selling on Ebay, the market is going to become oversaturated.

Just how is it Sony's responsibility for people's moronic activity. The last time I checked, it's the people who do stupid stuff who are responsible. And it's not like Sony is telling 300 people to camp at Best Buy when there are only 10 units being sold.

I'm with Blas. Half of this is to blame on Sony themselves.

The short supply, the high price, the ads.

None of the blame of people's actions falls on Sony at all. Sony is guilty of being arrogant jackasses and f**king up the launch, but not people robbing stores and beating each other up.

That's like saying the guy who beat up the kid who got the last copy of Gears of War is Microsoft's fault.

Its not Sony's fault. People act this way for concert tickets, sports events, and all kinds of stuff. this is just getting more publicity.

1.- I didn't say that, AICN did.

and B.- I'm sorry, but Sony also has some of the blame. They knew DAMN WELL people were going to act like this. You know, because they're ******ed.

I agree with the article saying that they should have postponed their launch until they had more units to satisfy the costumer. I can almost guarantee you no one would have gotten shot :down

It's the same difference, like my grandma used to say.
They're not directly responsible for people's action, yet they know what's gonna happen. And don't feed me no "Nah, how would they know? They're just selling the product?" BS either, cause I won't buy it :cmad:

But yeah, we can certainly agree that people are just ******ed most of the time.

Sony aren't responsible for the actions of individuals who should be individually punished (shot) but they should take responsibility for creating an unnecessary situation like this. It's not exactly hard to predict what will happen when there is a shortage of a product in high demand and suddenly worth a lot of money on the second hand market.

Honestly, it's not Sony's fault people are suckers. But they do know that people are suckers. Microsoft will get this same result when Vista is released. Not from the mainstream PC users, but from those hardcore PC-philes that have been studying Vista since it's announcement.

Maybe Sony should release their consoles directly on ebay auctions, taking the profit for themselves and avoiding these stupid incidents when supply is too low.

It's going for 2000 about. That's not bad. Less than the 360 even.

If I thought I could get lucky and find one in a store somewhere, I'd definitely sell it on ebay. If there are people stupid enough to pay $2000 for something that costs $600, there's no reason why I can't exploit them.

Why WOULDNT you sell it on ebay?

****, the three I got are going on Ebay sometime within the next month. Not right now, but before christmas, I'll tell you taht right there.

It has nothing to do with anything other than it's a KILLER money maker. I paid a total of ~2000$ for the three. I'm expected to get at least 10k+ easy. Not per, because I'm going to throw the BIN price at probably ~3500$ so they get bought right away and it'll help those families that don't have the (and trust me, it will go this high right before christmas) 10grand to spend on it. Morally I can't sell it for that much, it's just way to rediculous, but I'm still going to make a few bucks off this deal.

Oh, and I'm actually supprised eBay hasn't stepped in yet. They were supposed to not allow the auctions to go for more than ~700$. What a sham.

I agree. If someone is dumb enough to buy a PS3 period, I support the exploiting of them. Maybe it will teach them a lesson. And if not, hey, funny!

God, I'd love to be able to make 10 grand off these things.

Should of planned your **** like I did once I saw how much the X360 went for.

I have two brothers and a free-loading roommate. I pay for all my brothers ****, so I told them all they need to do is camp out and BE SURE to get a 60g PS3 the day it comes out. I already had three different presale tickets from three different stores around my area. Each brother went to one, and my roommate guy went to the third. I'm still waiting on getting all three at my current residence, but I do have in hand. My brothers just havn't come over yet.

Sony dropped the ball with PS3's launch, there's simply no way around it. Now it's all a question of wether or not they can make more consoles faster than these idiot scalpers can buy and resell them.

I don't see how they dropped they ball. They're going to sell every console they can put on the shelves for the next 6 months, despite all the reasons why people shouldn't want anything to do with it. I'd say they did a pretty good job.
