Just to ***** and whine but I was watching the trailers for :ff: and realized they had cut much more out of the film than just the conference before they go into space (which I still havent seen...grrr), I wanted to see the scene where Alba says "People want us to solve their problems, we can't even solve our own."

Notice how there wasn't any talk about deleted scenes in the commentary other than "this scene is a lot more mature than the planetarium scene." (which, if you followed the comics, is actually a better place, I guess, and, film-wise, it was where they had their first date, etc. Personally a much better scene ... in my imagination)

But still, I can't believe FOX, who obviously had full control of what the film contained. Why can't we just get a GOOD :ff: movie (not that it's awful, it's great fun).

Gossip away :o

Into The Blue used the same music in their trailer as well.....they do that alot in trailers....

There is also a scene where Ben gets mad goes through the door and Sue says "Great, now we need a new door"....its in one of the character TV spots...

If you look at some of the books that were given away with the DVD's at Circuit City you see the scene where Ben saves the cat....

Hopefully we will see these scenes in the DC.....

but I wouldn't hold my breath...

It's stupid. Why don't they include them on the DVD?
Did I mention it's STUPID!?!?! :o

If they want true fans, give them what true fans want: EVERYTHING!

I've estimated (based on the script, stills, trailer scenes etc.) that there are probably close to 40 minutes of things we haven't seen yet (and I think the best stuff was left off the DVD).

I think that's a pretty clear sign that they're saving it for the director's cut. . .

. . . now if we could only find out WHEN THAT's GOING TO COME OUT.

Good God you'd wanna hope so. Wow...a two and a bit hour :ff: film. I'd ****in' buy that!

You know how they should advertise it?

"The Fantastic Version of the Crappy Film Fox Released Last Summer, NOW ON DVD!!!"

But don't get me wrong, I'm pro-F4.

there's...lots of things that weren't even in the script(which we know that were filmed) that were edited out of the movie. more than 30 minutes. even more than DD

FOX is paranoid about cutting down runtime so they can fit in more showings each day and bring in more cash- its just the way they are, putting money before film quality. They did it with Daredevil, they did it with X1 (thank god that film was all character-driven anyway), they did it with Fantastic 4 (Story's commented on a LOT of material that he would like to restore for a DC), and I'm pretty sure they did it with X3 too.

When they get the film handed to them they edit the **** out of it, trying to prep it for the general film audience- which they assume is a child requiring flashy shots and explosions every few minutes.

FOX is just waiting now for the sequel so they can double-dip with an extended cut of the original. It's pretty much their dvd policy now with big-budget films.

they did with X-3. but probably only about 15 to 20 minutes cut out of that. but it escaped in much the same way X-1 did IMHO

I said that a long time ago and was shot down for it. Now Hunter gave 18 mins worth of deleated scenes, and I know I have heard that there was about 35 to 40 minutes cut. The whole scene before they go into space. Victors press conference, Ben going thru the door, We can't even solve our own problems, Ben getting the cat out of the tree, just to name a few. Hope we see them ALL on the 2nd disc of the DC.

Why see them as a separate feature? INCLUDE THEM IN THE FILM, FOX-*****ES!

I agree with you. 100 %. I want to see them all in the cut, but that's not useually how it works. Also Story said there were some things he would like back in. And the more you put in doesn't mean a better version. We will prob see the scenes with Ben and Alecia at the Kirby gallery, and the party at the gas station. Besides that, I don't know. I would love to see the as filmed version. Victors press confrence explains who Debbie is. There was a scene with Reed calling Debbie before they got in the cab, telling her they we're going to the bridge. Explains what Debbie was doing there. The scene where Leonard finds Ben sitting on a bench. Explains where Leonard got Ben from. What did he have him in his back pocket ? We got the highlight reel. Tim Story filmed a good, cohesive film. Unfortually Fox hack men left most of it on the floor. If we had seen the movie in It's unedited form, would have been a much different outcome.

Probably a much better movie, if the scenes you mentioned EXPLAIN stuff. If it explantion they are in for, and not faster paced action, then count me in. I'd rather a story and emotion rather than explosions and special fx (sometimes not good fx either, like Reed reaching under the door). That way, you care more about the characters when they are in trouble. I never ever felt they were in trouble, no matter how much I liked the movie, I knew they would get out unscathed.
I know, though, many of my friends would prefer the explosion-a-minute type of movie. Many of them hated King Kong or thought it could be better, but because of the long introduction, def. for me, it made me care about Ann when the T-Rexes attacked her, it made me cry at the end of the film.
Off-topic, but my brother and I went to a movie marathon including Poseidon, V For Vendetta, and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. My brother's friend came as well, but didnt stay for Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. He didn't like Poseidon or V For Vendetta, and he talked about V, saying how he didn't like it because it was confusing. My bro said it was filled with symbolism and metaphors etc, and my friend just said "I only like movies you just sit there and watch". And I was all "well he should have liked Poseidon :o". That's the attitude most of my firneds have against movies, it's stupid, and they don't get the movie-going experience. Sure, there are movies that are just entertainment, but a good movie (and I mean a GOOD movie) makes you connect with the characters and lets you care about them. A movie is an illusion. If we aren't entranced, we give up.

Please, whoever is out there making a comic book movie, please think more of a good story and character development. Trust me: you'll turn out with a lot better movie.

Wow. That'sprobably the longest post I've ever written!

Precisely. The general mentality now-a-days is "man, stories are stupid. i just wanna see action and boobs...and laugh at stuff. hehehe".

I hate the majority of teenagers and I hate where society is headed with them at the helm.

I'm really starting to think that it's not their fault: it's societie's fault for dumbing them down.

Or maybe it's just because they don't like movies I like, because the movies I like are more intropsective than the ones they like (seriously, my friend gave Date Movie 4.5/5...no. Just, no.)

Anyways...lol. What was going on in the scene where Sue is lying on the ground and Reed is over her? In the teaser

someone just get this dude the file with the 30 minutes of deleted scenes:o I uh don't got it at this moment.

...no. I want the ********s at FOX to give me the full F4 film we were supposed to get. They want to own the rights and release various films of it? They give me the one I want.

The scenes I'm looking forward to are the key character development scenes. There are several Doom scenes that were cut including some with him and Sue that help explain what's going on with them, and some with him and Reed that explain what's going on with them. There are all the Alicia/Ben scenes (not just the one where she's cleaning him off) that actually build a realtionship between them rather than just having them somehow end up being boyfriend/girlfriend in the end. There's the scene with Ben and the tape of his Birthday party showing what his life was like before the accident that humanized him and will help make the audience empathize with him. There is the key scene with Johnny in the bar in which we see he is something more than a cartoon character.

After reading the script with all those scenes and then seeing the film I was almost in shock at how half the film was left on the cutting room floor, and what we we're left with seemed slapped together and disjointed.

True, but I hope that people are not looking to the DC as the epic/action/family movie we didn't get, because I don't believe it will be...

The scenes that I think would have made a difference that were in the script and or shot, but not in the movie are....

  • the Ben/Alicia scene (the cleaning scene was alittle weird to me) but the other scene at the art show was excellent...
  • the restaurant scene withe Victor and Sue, it shows once again that Sue is not interested in Victor, and shows her loyalty...
  • the bar scene with Johnny was an unbelievably pivotal scene for his character and for anyone to think that they needed to cut that out was ridiculously stupid....that one scene alone makes me not want Hoy back...
  • Not sure if this was shot, but the make up scene between Sue and Johnny was very sweet in the script, and needed to be the bookend scene for their fight....
  • The planetarium scene should have never been changed....excellent bookend for the spaceship line from Reed...
  • There is a scene also where you realize that it is Victor who is funding everything and therefore sees the machine as his....and its when Reed realizes there is something indeed wrong with Victor.....in the background Sue sees Victor as he truly is as well......to me a pivotal scene. This was also where we are supposed to see how Victor got the cameras into Reed's Lab.
  • Finally, the scene between Reed and Sue where Sue realizes that people are now wanting them to fix their every problem and how big of a burden that will be...

The deleted scenes that we got a few months ago, include the deleted scenes we got on the DVD. They are about 17 minutes worth of deleted scenes....take out the elevator scene, and alicia cleaning scene and its probably about 14 minutes.....add back in a couple of scenes we did not see but know are in the movie you have around 18 - 20 minutes of footage that could have made a difference...Would they have made the total difference?....no......there are still other problems that need to be fixed....but they would have made the movie more enjoyable in my opinion....not GREAT, but definitely more enjoyable, and much more complete.
