What do you hope to see in the trailer and when do you think it will come out? I say it comes out with Tron.

Your thoughts..

Iam thinking the same however many will be in an uproar when the cgi(including suits and constructs) don't look as good as they expect. Simply because by december they will be in middle of post meaning that a lot of the shots in the first trailer will be unfinished. The second trailer however is the one I'am expecting the most because it will be the one to show what things will look like in the finalized film.

Green Lantern trailer:

"Hal Jordan of Earth..."

Blake Lively's ****

"You Have The Ability To Overcome Great Fear..."

Blake Lively's ****

"Welcome To The Green Lantern Corps..."

Blake Lively's **** and a boxing glove construct

Movie title

Fade to black

ANy movie that will have that trailer attached is guarenteed to break Twilight's opening day record :awesome:

Edit :
Seriously though i think that maybe we won't be seeing the trailer with Potter or Tron as both movies are 3-d releases. Although the theaters could show 2-d trailers before the movie starts , i think that the trailers attached will be 3d trailers and as such WB and the VFX studios will have to create a 3d trailer .
I dunno if they have enough to pull that off till next year.
If not WB might look at other big 2d releases for the debut of the first trailer.

First of all, "Tron: Legacy" is a Disney picture (which is basically a competitor). You feature the trailer first on your competitor's film and you might give them a few more $eat$ for them to boast on their box office numbers. "Harry Potter and the Deadly Hallows Part 1 on the other hand is a WB production. It would behoove you to feature it there first while getting a few more intrested fans to go see HP than to do it a month later and let "Tron" get the extra revenue. My bet is November and Harry Potter.

Yet studios also attach trailers to movies that aren't their own.
Recent example : Harry Potter and Deathly Hallows trailer was attached to Twilight.
Inception's first trailer was attached to Inglorious Bastards
Although the first trailer for Half Blood Prince was attached to IMAX prints of TDK , the first "proper" teaser was attached to The mummy 3

So to say that WB wouldn't attach the trailer to non-WB movies isn't true. You are correct in saying that WB could attach the GL teaser with Potter but if the shots aren't finished , they probably won't do it. And again if the 3d isn't finished then both Tron and Potter can be dismissed as possible candidates.

My guess would be with Harry Potter, but like many I think it'll just be a teaser. by the way matrix, I like your location. Made me chuckle :)

There's time for them to do enough CGI for the 'money shots' in the teaser. They've been working on the CGI since production (remember, CGi isn't just a post-production thing)

Oh i don't dispute that they can't get some money shots for the teaser. The question or better yet questions are
1) are those shots ready for Potter or possibly Tron
2) are those shots ready in 3d

I know that when Avatar was released Disney had the 3d trailer of Alice in Wonderland attached . To my knowledge at least there is one BIG difference between AIW and GL.
AIW was largely a green screen shoot whereas GL has it's fair share of real location footage.
In the latest issue of Cinefex they were talking about how Sony Imageworks rendered the VFX in stereoscopic 3d ( because of the greenscreen) and converted the live-action footage to 3d. Because they "only" had to convert the live-action footage , it made their work easier to crank out the 3d shots.

With GL it's different . Even though Sony Imageworks is also the lead vendor and most likely are using the same method of creating the 3d shots for GL , fact is that the teaser will have converted footage. And you don't want crappy 3d at this stage. Look at the CC footage of Thor. We all saw it in 2d and it looked pretty solid. But those who have seen the footage at CC said that the 3d really was bad.

Mind you that this won't be an issue if WB opt to show the first trailer in 2d and hopefully has the theatrical trailer in 3d next year.

Not to derail this thread but i really hate that guy's movies post Pulp Fiction. Really really hate them.

That does happen, but you have a situation now where Harry Potter releases about a month before with probably just as large a turn out in its opening week as Tron. November is about 3 months away. That's plenty of time to have the voice overs done and have a trailer ready for HP's release date. That is still my prediction.

Lol I thought that was funny, as I agree with you. And so as to not derail this thread, by November there should be plenty of time to get at least a decent teaser trailer together, like dnno said.

attach a teaser to TRON:Legacy[2]

or attch to the last Harry Potter in the end of the year.

It has to be with Harry Potter.

I think some kind of teaser is a lock with Harry Potter. Might even be with very little actual footage, but I think we'll see something.

It is almost obvious that it will be Harry Potter. HP7 is extremely hyped and a teaser to wet appetites would be perfect.

And I think the perfect teaser would be a pan from Earth to space while Hal announces the GL oath. "Beware my power...Green Lantern's light!" then we see Hal zooming towards the camera in space followed by some quick cuts of characters with one huge money shot involving the ring. GREEN LANTERN...June 17 2011.

Don't know if you guys know this, if your a Karate Kid fan then you probably do, but Blake Lively is the half sister of Robyn Lively, who played Daniel's awkward, I just wanna be friends but i'll flirt with you first, co star in Karate Kid 3 & she was in Teen Witch, with that rediculous TOP THAT video which can be seen on Youtube.

Steve

Remember when teaser trailers showed no footage and it was just a teaser of the upcoming film? We should go back to that.

If you really want to get trivial, Robyn Lively is also the sister of Lori Lively, who could easily play herself in a Superman film.

Before I even opened this thread I knew my answer was Harry Potter as well.

In terms of what I'd like to see?

a lot of setup - like a whole minute of it, and then a *strong* reveal of Reynolds in the suit (not like the flash we got of Batman in the Begins teaser). And then like a 10 second montage of some action stuff.

I definitely think that we'll see something with Harry Potter. But I think it'll probably be a very simple teaser trailer. Perhaps something along the lines of the teaser trailer for The Dark Knight that was released in 2007. Would be okay with me, the TDK teaser trailer got me pumped up just fine and it didn't even show any footage from the film!

Maybe so, but there has to be some kind of reveal or footage for Green Lantern. With TDK, Batman was already established.

The average movie goer or person has no clue about anything Green Lantern. None of my close friends know who he is.

To plant an idea on what you are saying batlovescatDC, maybe we can see the ring powering up while we hear Hal reciting the oath and then the ring lights up the screen to cut to a FULL reveal of Hal Jordan in his GL glory...that's it. Short but effective.
