This newer trailer wasn't that bad, we saw more of the Watchmen and best of all no whiney background song from Smashing Pumpkins.

Saw the trailer with Transporter tonight with a pretty rowdy crowd, and some guy yelled out, "that movie looks gay as hell!", which was met with laughter, which I'm sure made him feel pretty damn good about himself. Hopefully that is not the average joe's opinion of the flick before seeing it though.
Muse is awesome...I've been listening to more of their stuff here lately.
Muse is a poor and shameless carboncopy of Radiohead, and Smashing Pumpkins was just the playground of one grown, bald man.
Hehe - ironic, seeing as he was there to watch Transporter 3...

The first thing I noticed is the same thing that Lord Falsworth noticed that Rorschach calls the main characters collectively Watchmen even though the term watchmen in the milieu of the comic is use to criticize or insult the superheros through graffiti done by protesters and rioters. Suggesting they think their above the law or morally superior. The group the main players tried (and failed) to form is the Crimebusters and it is a dumb joke of a name because the comic is serious but its characters are ultimately sad silly men in pajamas. They are called the Watchmen in the same way Neil Gaimans Dream is called the Sand Man or the same way Batman is called the Dark Knight (Jim Gordon calls him that once at the end of the movie). Its letting us in on something no one inside the book knows. And calling them watchmen sounds rather trite and shallow in that context.
The second thing I noticed is that Rorschachs gravelly, guttural and oddly loud voice sounded too much like a cartoon character than say a mentally broken, sociopathic vigilante. Dr. Manhattans voice was also missing its sense of electric, mechanical and alien distance although the actor did seem very well suited to the role.
The story in the trailer went by too rapidly and it felt forced rather than natural. In comparison to the trailers for the dark knight or even batman begins Id say this new Watchmen trailer doesnt even come on the same scale and gives a rather flat, simple, blocky mess of an impression to the film and comic it advertises. If I didnt know any better I wouldve thought they were advertising another vulgar action movie cash-in (like daredevil) or a rather dumb made-for-TV movie (or just maybe an ugly cable mini-series). I hope this movie rocks the world Dark Knight style and the posters theyve publicized are a great way to start ball but that trailer was a flash in the pan so to speak.
Oh and the squid is an off color H.P. Lovecraft reference and it tends to confused the ending just a little I would cut it too.
You know, I was just wondering, how will the changed ending effect the scene were Blake is ranting and crying in Moloch's bedroom?

Well how will The Comedian discover them replicating Doc Manhatten's powers rather than the island were they made the squid, see what I mean?
