No film will ever be the next Batman & Robin. Not even Batman & Robin 2 could do that. Batman & Robin created a ripple in reality and a whole new film subculture where it sits by itself.

Agreed. Comparing these two is just ridiculous. Batman & Robin destroyed that franchise for awhile. TF:ROTF is going to do the opposite. I personally loved TF:ROTF, so i might sound biased here, but i think it puts the Transformers movies in another level of action movies, action movies where some geeks and pretty much the entire general public can go and have fun for two plus hours.

I haven't seen TF 2 yet, but I can't imagine it's as bad as Batman & Robin. The only scene in the entire film I remember liking was the end credits, partly because of the Pumpkin's song, but mostly because it meant the movie was finally over...

Still, I have to say in Schumacher's defense - at least the bat-suit didn't have testicles...

TF:ROTF is an emmy nominee compared to B&R. Hell in my theater when I was at a midnight showing, people applauded the film, and I heard nothing but "this was awesome" from people as I exited the theater. I liked it for what it was, Michael Bay makes exploisions, big fights, shows off hot chicks, and doesn't really do much in the way of characterization.
