Since when is BB in the academy???? *shrug*

That Iron Hide is pretty sleek.

It's acutally called "Elite Guard Bumble Bee", note the EG symbol on it. Also they alluded to new mold Classics deluxe Hound (with Ravage), and Cyclonus.

Hasbro panel report from Botcon at http://tformers.com/article.php?sid=9359 -

PRESENTATION
+ Joe Does exclusives. Thundercraker, Skywarp have been planned as toys for awhile for animated. + CN has day colors and night colors for their animation and they try and work that in to the toy as best as possible.
+ At one point Blitzwing was going to be more military.
+ Originally TF Animated was going to be called TF Hero because they wanted to be more Super Hero.
+ The Archer was put in by CN as an inside joke. Originally he was gonna be called Anger the Archer. : Arron Archer asked that he have the left hand be more robotic but he had no control of the overall look and voice - the joke was to be based on Aaron Archer.
+ DLX Stryker. Takara couldn't make out the head from the image provided by the studio. Archer drew it 5 mins before catching a plane out Tokyo and thats how his head for the toy was created.
+ Salvage' inspiration is from the Sanford & Son truck.
+ Convertible Cadillac XLR was gonna be Megatron for Alternators but never came out.
+ Skyfire Space Shuttle was based on the Shuttle from Michael Bays Armageddon.
+ Storm Cloud is a redeco Powerglide. MM-89 on him stands for Micro Master 89, the year he is made.
+ Both Powerglide and and Storm Cloud will have it so you can open his chest and see a heart. It is really for Powerglide, Storm Cloud has it cause it was molded in.
+ Animated Perceptor was just designed and is coming.
+ Universe Deluxe Acid Storm was originally named Rainmaker then Acid Rain and then Acid Storm.
+ 25th Anniversary Hot Shot deluxe class. He now has a rear window! This is how they will celebrate mini-cons cause he comes with one. No Bazooka weapon for Hot Shot. They got Dave Willis (ShortPacked) to stand up, he is a BIG Hot Shot fan. (Ed Note: Yes, this is the surprise 25th figure. @_@)
QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
+ No plans for a Universe 6 Shot right now. + Takara does design and sculpting and Hasbro comes up with the ideas on Alternators.
+ Fracture is Crasher from the Go-Bots and a female. The Wal-Mart Mirage repaint. She creates tremors with her feet. They tried to call her Crasher and then Catalyst but those names didn't clear.
+ Takara and Hasbro each do their own color guides for toys.
+ No combiners in the Universe line right now.
+ No Ultra Magnus for the Universe line right now.
+ GM Alternator Hummer, they had talked to GM extensively about that but for many different reasons it never happened. It could be something in the future.
+ According to Archer, Hot Shot was a great opportunity to re-do a guy who needed to be redone. It wont be out till around this time next year.
+ We will probably see a Ratchet repaint of Iron Hide Universe.
+ Its not confirmed what Perceptor transforms into, but he does have the microscope bazooka shoulder cannon. They don't mass shift. Possibly, he'll still transform into a microscope or maybe a telescope.
+ Cosmos Universe is in the works and they are trying to get him done. They want to have something to show for next year.
+ When asked about MP Grimlock. Hasbro says he's on their short list. If Takara do it first, he will prob make his way here. Probably be an exclusive, if he was done.
+ Galvatron was so small because the designer was told that they already had so many tanks in the larger scale so they had to do the smaller version.

Coolies! Animated Perceptor, plus a Ratchet repaint of Ironhide for Universe/Classics. :woot:

So it sounds like Takara will be releasing a Masterpiece Grimlock and Thundercracker, while Thundercracker will just be a repaint of Starcream it will be nice to have all three seekers in MP form. As for Grimlock, holy crap that would be awesome to see the detail of the dinobot.

Hi all. I just wanted to chime in a bit here as collector of the new Transformer Movie figures. For the record, I was never a childhood fan of the series but I enjoyed the movie and was impressed with the look of the figures so I picked one up on a whim. I was really impressed with the engineering behind the transformation and began slowly collecting them over the past year as I see them.

I just recently stumbled upon the 2008 Camaro Bumblebee and Barricade at Target and picked them both up. And I must say, I think both of those are easily the best ones I have (of the voyager and deluxe series) in terms of accuracy of the robot and vehicle modes. In top of that the transformation is fun and seems to flow well. They both also offer a great deal of posability.

Bumblebee is a little better in posabilty and looks than barricade and easily one of the coolest figures I've seen in a long time. The designer deserves a huge pat on the back for getting this one to look so good and offer a incredible flexibility.

To top off my collection I'm looking to add the leader version of Optimus Prime. Looks like I'll have to settle for the newer stealth color scheme though as red and blue scheme is only available on ebay for more money than I'm willing to dish out.

The first wave of TFA deluxes are out in Canada. I just got Lockdown. :woot:

I did find a copy of the Nightwatch Prime leader figure. I'm really impressed with that one. The posability is incredible considering how beefy he is. The ankle ball joints give him the most flexibilty in terms stances of any of the figures I have so far.

I found the conversion much easier than I expected as well. I think I had him converted to a truck faster than I was able to convert barricade deluxe figure the first time. :wow:

My only gripes with all the different variations of figures so far is that the scale is inconsistent. I've actually grouped the figures I have in terms of which ones I think fit scale wise to each other. This is what I've got.

smallest scale: Voyager Blackout and Deluxe Brawl
middle scale: Deluxe Barricade and Deluxe Bumble Bee
largest scale: Leader Prime, Voyager Ironside and Deluxe Jazz

The scale on Blackout and Brawl is way too small to fit with any of the others as Blackout is supposed to be the biggest decepticon.

The BB and Barricade scales are very close to each other but seem too small to fit with the other figures.

Leader Prime looks about right with Ironside who is much too big for the other figures. Jazz seems to fit best with these two as well because he appears too big in vehicle mode when paired with the BB and Barricade vehicles.

I'm most disappointed with Ironside as I can't get a natural looking pose out of him. The lack of adjustment in his ankles makes him look too rigid no matter what I do, which is a real shame because the conversion is cool and he looks great. I also don't like the Brawl figure as he also has limited leg adjustments and his arms just won't stay snapped into place.

I think the Prime, BB and Barricade figures do the best job of looking like the movie characters and all three offer enough articulation to really make some convincing looking poses.

Blackout looks great and is pretty posable but the large tail section of the Pavelow is cumbersome and detracts from the movie-like look. Same is true of Jazz, overall he's pretty good but the large car top just doesn't look very good on his back.

Ratchet is on order from the Hasbro site. And I'm actually trying to win a bid on ebay for a Premium Prime. The last time I was into collecting figures like this was when Star Wars Ep 1 came out. These are some great toys with some rather impressive engineering behind them.

Maybe i'll see some TFA figs Thursday morning when i go to TRU to hopefully nab a unmasked Batman.
